If memory serves, and I said at the time, that had to have been a sound check from before the doors opened. There were over 1000 at that one. Needless to say, it stands to reason that over, say, 8 months, The Fan couldve built a bigger crowd. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577236709648198825.post-90395679488259952892013-12-30T21:30:03.348-06:002013-12-30T21:30:03.348-06:00Sorry slinky, I don't see the connection betwe...Sorry slinky, I don't see the connection between Cora Snake and RW, either. Count me amongst the "I wish Corby was paired with a host who would take the lead" crowd. I've yet to hear him come off as a total know it all jackass who speaks out of his posterior about things he knows little to nothing about when he's paired with, for example, Bob. I honestly think it's the fact that he's partnered with Mike, who has totally ceded the reins of the show to him, that he's become the insufferable personality that many have come to know and cringe over. Basically, because of his co host's apparent desire to only react to topics that he himself doesn't initiate (and even then it's a rather limited involvement-he has his spiel and once said, that's about the end of it) he's forced to fill segments. Each and every day, five days a week, roughly 30 weeks per year, year in and year out. So in a way I understand how and why Corby is so, well, Corby.

RW, on the other hand, is merely a self-promoter going through a public midlife crisis (public by his own doings; one no one has asked him to publicize; one that is quite boring and more than a bit sad-like all midlife crises). I also think RW is one of those individuals who seeks out those who will give him the advice he desires in order to justify whatever path he's going down at that particular time and circumstance. Hence his GW partnership after knowing firsthand darn well what he was getting himself into. Anyone who has followed him from his Observer days till recent can see this pretty plainly.

Machine, if that's really you (and I'm sure it is), kudos for the offer. More than a bit ballsy on your end. The offer could be read by Cat and others (who obviously read this blog and its comments) as and act of subordination-implicitly or explicitly. Maybe Plainsman has taken you up on your offer? If he or anyone has, perhaps he'll/they'll share at least the gist of their question and your answer (?).

Myself, I find Ladies Be Trippin' condescending. I believe the vast majority of P1s are pretty smart. We get the "2nd and 3rd level" humor of the Gordons and the Jakes and the Machines; we know when it's time to be sports and otherwise serious; and we also know the reality of the dating world of your average Ticket Chick and her ilk and the partners they seek out/"hook up" with/date/have relationships with/marry. While I'm not going to shout in caps like The Syllogist, what he (from the comment I assume TS is a he) said was absolutely right.
