If you read those comments, mine might make more sense to you. Regardless.....I think it's fine to criticize and praise a host's handiwork. But to get genuinely peeved because they aren't the model of your eyes' perfection is silly. It's one thing to criticize show presentation and all that that entails (attitude, bit quality, and all that jazz); it's another to call a host a "pussy" (5:11's choice term) for not showing the decorum you'd have him. The thrust of my point is that if a host is such an existential "pussy" then what are you doing wasting your time bitching about him, much less listening to him and following him on Twitter?

I think neither Sean or Jake is existentially a "pussy," therefore I do tune in from time to time in hopes that they've gotten better. Sadly, they haven't. They've only gotten worse. Seeing how 80% of the show is about politics (if not outright, then by way of not so subtle political jabs and undertones) and and of that 80%, 60% is about sex (oh how Jake wants to be naughty Rant era Gordo--see, it all comes back to Goofy Deer!), I'm not sure what you find so agreeable about the show (?). Some of the sports HSOs are solid. But even those are usually delivered in a Rome cum Fish manner-which is about as off-putting as it gets.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577236709648198825.post-90273808170962049082017-04-16T20:54:01.934-05:002017-04-16T20:54:01.934-05:00That pretty much summed it up East! Everyone asking Justin how he lost his leg and he went along with it all and gave all the details.

SPOILER ALERT: SPOILER ALERT.
I am going to summarize some of the points below for those that don't want to go back and listen on one of the alt web sites.
.
.
.
.
.
.Good P1's, please correct me if I got things wrong.
.
1. Justin had a growth on his knee for a few months when he was around 14. Hurt it bad (playing ball?) and went to the ER with what he thought was a fractured/broken leg. X-rays showed it was a tumor.

2. Went through chemo for several years but did not cure and had to take off the leg. (I think around age 17.)

3. Got to do a "Make-A-Wish" and this scared him because he thought he was dying. Finally got explained to him that kids with life-altering illnesses also got a M-A-W; not only those that were/are terminal.

4. First choice for M-A-W was to see Michael Jordan. Was explained to him that this is so popular MJ basically lines up 50 kids at a time and shakes their hand. So he went with his next in line, Kevin James.

5. Justin was a big "King of Queens" fan and wanted to meet Kevin James. Went on an all-expense paid trip to LA for a week. Sat on the couch on set and BS'd with KJ for about 30 minutes. Got KJ's work uniform from the show and it is in his (Justin's) closet right now.

6. Leah Remini is a "c___". Took a picture with Justin but not she was not really interested.

7. Conversation about getting KJ in studio on the GBL and seeing if he, KJ, remembers Justin without anyone giving KJ a heads up.

Thought this was one of the best segments I have heard lately. I'm not sure what your point is -- that we shouldn't engage in criticism, or, for that matter, praise? Just don't understand what you seem upset about.

Re Shake Joint, I'm with 219. I tuned in today and thought the show was good. I've always thought the chemistry was better than average, although I would like a better balance between Jake and Sean. I don't know that I'd classify Jake as one of The Ticket's mic hogs (it has a 2 or 3 certified, at least), but Confessors have observed that sometimes Sean is too ready to concede points of disagreement and they may have a point. I think maybe he needs more "Sean segments," most of the assigned slots seem to go to Jake. But overall, I think the show is real good when it's not wandering off into sex and politics.

And absolutely -- give Country Force a whirl in a regular weekend slot, O Feline of the New World. The Plainsmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09312877844275731926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577236709648198825.post-78777041670362557602017-04-16T14:21:07.240-05:002017-04-16T14:21:07.240-05:00Although I have to agree on their regular call-in ...Although I have to agree on their regular call-in fanboys. Tuned in this morning, and Jake and Sean's chemistry is miles ahead of months ago. These two don't get much space to take the mic and run with it in their weekday roles. So it's interesting that when they do, they oftentimes bring some legit substance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577236709648198825.post-56129195672395409612017-04-16T13:20:18.847-05:002017-04-16T13:20:18.847-05:00Gordo's a genius, Gordo's a hack, Gordo...Gordo's a genius, Gordo's a hack, Gordo's a tortured artiste, Gordo's a pseudo-intellectual, Gordo's inconsistent, Gordo's the smartest guy in the room (wait, am I thinking of Jake?), Gordo Gordo Gordo.

Gordo's a dude on the radio that offers up some grade a mimicry, some rapid fire quick hitty comedic bits and pieces, and the occasional insightful comment on life. He also, at times, writes a moving/thoughtful piece in the local paper. Not everything he says is funny, insightful, or even correct. Not every article he's written is Pulitzer worthy. And like all of us, he's full of paradoxes, inconsistencies, and capable of less than stellar behavior. But for the love of Goldie's Vigor Fit, just enjoy the good stuff he brings to our listening experience and let him be.

BTW, The Shake Joint is plain awful. From the cooler than thou regular callers with the right sort of "take," to the worlds biggest blowhard this side of Mike Fisher, Sean Bass, to Dylan the Obnoxious Teen Who's Now In His 30s: it is the worst. IMHO the recent criticism is being brought about because of the immediate A-Team analyst position he was offered with CBS. I don't understand what he has ever done to get that job...Notwithstanding how awful Phil Simms has been. The Cowboys have 3 recent HOFers: Troy, Emmitt, and M Irvin who have gone into broadcasting and even Troy Aikman had to practice for a year before he got the number 1 spot. Daryl "Moose" Johnston is on the C-team.
And also, if his career numbers match Phillip Rivers, that is exactly why he is criticized as a QB. It would be better if his numbers matched Peyton Manning or some such.
I thought the Mavericks thing was cheesy as a slice of pizza (with extra cheese), regardless of how great he was. Tony already has the experience of suiting up as a pro athlete. I'm glad so many people liked it for Tony's sake, but that type of thing should be reserved for Make-A-Wish kids dying of cancer. As Bill Parcells would say, "no disrespect" to Kids dying of cancer, that's just why I think it's cheesy.Tangentnoreply@blogger.com
