A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."
Did Rhyner express his condolences on Carol Doda Plainsman? I don't remember him ever mentioning her. But he certainly would've noticed her had she walked by, I'm sure.
I know it's been beat to death but I don't think it should be left unnoticed what corky said re: Greg Hardy yesterday. He actually said Hardy needs to be better in order for his behavior to be tolerated. After all that berating, even corky admits he could turn a blind eye if Hardy were "Lawrence Taylor-esque." Corky finished his Hardy segment by saying, "He's always been a bad guy, but he's always been the best player...for me, he has to be better than he's been. Not just a guy that goes out there and gets a sack a game, I mean... a guy that controls the edge in the running game...more disruptive...more hurries...You have to be Lawrence Taylor, all the time."
After all the condemnation, there's a standard Hardy could exceed in which corky would approve! Un-blankin'-believable!

This type of Corby attitude makes me sick to my stomach. He also seems to be OK with Oklahoma keeping Joe Nixon. I preface that by saying I haven't heard him saying anything negative about it, although I have possibly missed something.
On a different note, I did agree with his saying today that the media shouldn't be allowed in the NFL locker room. This after the last childish Dez outburst. It wouldn't have happened had the media not been there but he's a guy you have to walk on eggshells around, constantly.
@blergoyen Does our esteemed College Football Blowhard realize how unreal a sack a game dude is? I mean that is elite level D-end. He is not a terror against the run, but he is paid to sack the QB. When you are surrounded by slaps you are going to look bad against the run.
So, the hosts at The Fan have apparently enacted "Hardy Rules," whereby they can't even speak his name anymore. They claim that they're tired of talking about him and their fans are tired of hearing about him. Okay. They also claim that it's not a management or Cowboys directive. Sure, guys.
Regardless, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. What happens if Hardy gets in trouble again? What happens if there's new news to report. I'm sorry, but it just smacks of a direct order from the team. Even if it isn't, to purposefully neuter yourselves from talking about an important, timely topic is just idiotic.
This is yet another reason why the little Ticket is still the only sports station in town that matters.
@T4 - Corby has mentioned Joe Mixon briefly, and I want to say he used the word "disgusting", but I think that was the only time and he certainly hasn't devoted a whole segment to him. Nowhere near the tirade over Greg Hardy.
Gordo is MIA today. Should I hold onto my butt? Oh wait, I'm already holding onto my butt.
The reason The Fan isn't talking about Greg Hardy is the same reason why The Plainsman should introduce Corby rules here on MTC. It's a beating hearing/reading the same topic over and over and over again.
Then I suggest that you, and perhaps 654, stop perusing and participating in that which upsets you.
The Greg Hardy issue is a "beating," huh? OK.
If, however, you are insistent upon participating in that which upsets you, might you suggest what topics you'd like to discuss/see discussed? It's one thing to criticize; it's another to do so constructively, to add something.
Actually, I have 7:36. I used to be a regular reader of the comments, even participating frequently. But lately, mob mentality/Corby bashing is taking over the comments.
Btw, that same logic can be applied to people who are constantly bitching about Corby -- if he upsets you that much, change the channel.
1018, your attempt at refutation by analogy falls flat: If MTC has, as you claim, become a haven for Corby bashing, and if one was a Corby basher, why would one go elsewhere? MTC, for such a Confessor would be his or hers "home," his or her "haven."
I logged a few hours in North Beach but I don't think I ever went to her club.

ReplyDeleteCorby thought there were six shots?

Man, it's exhausting to come here and read nothing but posts bashing Corby. You guys are being really petty with some of these complaints.

I wonder if the Fan got a directive from the team they so proudly carry to back off the Hardy talk for a little while.

ReplyDeleteLady Logic, she's a tricky misstress.
