A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

PROGRAM NOTE: BREAKING: Country Force in for That Shake Joint Thang
Might be misreading the tealeaves here, but I think some of these JVers, and Sean, while taking Rich Phillips role, is still a JVer where hosting is concerned. might one day regret their incessant socio-political HSO Tweets. They are emotionally laden, short-sighted, and often (as most emotionally fueled utterances are) hysterical in nature. We all know that employers now carefully look at and are influenced by a potential employee's social media output. Hell, this is now the case when it comes to graduate school admissions. Without exception, and yes, this means Jake and Sean too, none of the JV will work at The Ticket/Cumulus forever. Once the Musketeers are gone, lifer status, at least in that way, is over. Sean, Mike Marshall, Jake, et alia, may learn down the road that social media giveth and social media can also taketh away.
Difference is, Shaggy, that Bacsik made a single stupid and offensive mistake, apologized profusely without being pressured to do so, and publicly castigated himself, again, without being pressured to do so. He accepted Cumulus's decision to fire him without an iota of prostest, after the fact backbiting, or further comment other than he understood and agreed with the decision. And since then there has not been one misstep on his part.
What I'm talking about is a long standing pattern of derision towards others with differing views, vulgarity, and often hysterical and ill-informed socio-political HSOs, all expressed in the most public of mediums. There is a big difference.
"What I'm talking about is a long standing pattern of derision towards others with differing views, vulgarity, and often hysterical and ill-informed socio-political HSOs"
Sounds like someone who would make a great president!
I just noticed that Sean changed his twitter handle from @sbass1310 to @SeanCBass. Guess he's putting some distance between his political thoughts and his spot at the station.
I wonder if it had anything to do with the Cumulus e-mails to the host. Bob and Dan talked about reading their company e-mail and Jake made some commit about it sounding like he had his hand slapped. Donnie and Norm mentioned it too. They all sounded liek they would be paying more attention to it. Corby made the statement about clearing out 62,000 unread e-mails so he could read his.
Hey, Shaggy, I tried doing a Google search for this stunner but I didn't come up with anyone with Star Wars tats. Send me the result you got. theplainsman1310@gmail.com
Wow, wish I'd heard some of the commentary on Cat's email. Reminds me of a quotation from Peter Finley Dunne, circa 1910, speaking through his alter ego "Mr. Dooley": ""No matther whether th’ constitution follows h’ flag or not, th’ Supreme Coort follows th’ election returns.” Sounds like possibly the Catman of The Western Hemisphere, or perhaps Dan "Dan" Bennett does the same. Those reactions are priceless. Thanks to debased for his or her reportage.
I have no problem with these guys having their own political views and even expressing them on the air, however calling a large part of your audience ignorant racist hicks is probably not a good strategy. Money talks!
On a related topic, I'm surprised The Ticket allows as much porn talk as it does. For awhile there we didn't hear ads for "gentlemen's clubs," but they seem to be making a comeback.
As usual, last night after THL had passed, I switched back over to Ticket to catch the Top Ten and the great Fake Jerry. Well, here is the old-wave Davey show. Come on Guys!! Not after a Cowboy win! Anyway, I happen to love Morrissey and pretty much enjoyed the show. Heard songs I had never heard before [Alma Matters. That's the first post Cowboy game fake Jerry I've missed this year.
The "same silo" concept for White Elephant day sucks. The whole point it to get guys out of their comfort zone so hilarity ensues. Rhyner on tickers, Dan producing, TC stuttering his way through a hosting shift. This way doesn't have that dynamic... it feels rigged.
While the White Elephant lineup looks pretty interesting, it is totally rigged. Like @5:49 said, the P1 wants chaos on White Elephant day. Chaos like Fahy hosting and Gordo and Mike doing Tickers.
The White Elephant morning show will be pretty great. Not sure about George and Norm.
Wow. A Google Image Search top result for this redhead brings back a result that Ty would be proud of.
ReplyDeleteIf you want a textbook example of butthurt, check out Sean Bass' twitter feed. Quite comical! Hopefully he can find his safe space soon.

ReplyDeleteYet Fox Sports and CBS Radio employ Mike Bacsik

ReplyDeleteWonder if an edict came down to Cumulus employees? If so, it'd make sense. It maybe Sean is "moving on"?
ReplyDeleteIf course you'd make that comment, Shaggy. Low hanging fruit, orange in color.

Whatever was in it made an impression on them.

ReplyDeleteHave I detected an uptick in Mike R's involvement in his show recently?

Can we assume one or more of the players didn't want a different White Elephant gig?
ReplyDeleteIMO, White Elephant Day should not be in November!
