Confessor Gypo Nolan commented: "Hold on to your butts. Big time."
That sent me into a frenzy of DFW sports media source checking, some of whom have tentacles into The Ticket.
Know what they all said?
Ain't nothing happening. Hosts tied up. No reports of rebellion or departure or retirement or unhappiness. All good at 1310 AM, 96-7 FM.
But . . . what about Cumulus? I asked.
What about it? they replied. Next deadline with the lenders is sometime in 2019.
So Confessors, I did my due diligence, and came up with borscht.
Gypo, you got some 'splainin' to do.
Unless you're reporting on the Tony Romo thing, or something happening at ESPN or Fan, in which case if you don't say any more than "Hold on to your butts. Big time" on a site dedicated to The Ticket, you haven't teased much of anything at all.
Give, Gypo, or forever lose your MTC cred.
OK...So Cumulus isn't broke. I have an idea for what they can do with all the cash they have stashed in a drawer in the kitchen: Wire up the studio for webcasting. I just love the behind the scenes stuff. It would be fantastic if occasionally they could let us see the broadcast as well as hear it. I'm very interested in and always try to catch the training camp and Superbowl broadcasts that include the webcam. Is it just me?
ReplyDeleteI realize it would mean more work on the tech side, and I'm sure there would be some additional costs as well. Plus the hosts don't really want to been seen scratching their balls and what not. Also, obviously, the 8:40 bit, and others, would have to be off limits with the fake characters.
I'm just suggesting that its an option. Use it occasionally when appropriate. Is anyone else interested in occasionally "watching" the broadcast?
I would still really like to hear the Sirois/Monty audio. Anyone have any idea where I can listen?
ReplyDeleteLadies and Germs, hold fast to yer buttocks. TONY ROMO IS RETIRING AND WILL TAKE OVER FOR PHIL SIMMS IN THE CBS BOOTH. Was that it, gypo? Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteWell, Pmensch, maybe said connected folk know that you run a Ticket fanboy site and are therefore reticent to let you know anything of the sort????
ReplyDeleteNothing going on folks, move along.
ReplyDeleteMy sources are aware of my identity. But nothing in it for them to mislead me. I think Gypo was thinking Cowboys stuff was of butt-holding interest to Confessors.
ReplyDeleteNaw, can't be. He/she/it/xe/self-identifying macaw has been around this site far too long to know that THAT ain't hold onto your butt stuff. Something's happening. Gotta believe, man. Gotta believe.
ReplyDeleteSo Danny and Mike and Sirios and others think Romo is going to rush back to the football field whenever a top QB goes down. What 37 year old family man with a sweet gig presented to him on a silver platter would give up said gig for 6 weeks of an NFL pounding and no guarantee of Super Bowl glory. If he left CBS in the lurch like that, he would never get a broadcasting gig again. The days of Romo playing football are over! Not to mention the fact that Tony is going to lose weight and not be in playing shape. It is well known that he gained weight to protect the frame. I would imagine he is in the process of losing that weight to look presentable on TV. I can't believe these guys don't get this. Corby has actually been the most reasonable one regarding this and that is saying something.
ReplyDeleteI work at The Ticket and posted as GypoNolan like 3 or 4 years ago because I thought it'd be fun to give you guys some insight into things happening around here. The responses and attitude of the posters wasn't fun, as I expect them not to be for this post as well. So, for the record, I haven't posted under that name for 3 years or so, and anyone doing so is an imposter. Good luck with your bottoms.
ReplyDeleteWhile 218 is harsh, I have to concur with the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteNot only am I a D1P1 Loop Listener, I'm also a D1P1 Confessor. So, let's get our facts straight, GypoNolan, shall we?
The only "insight" you ever gave was to advise us to "hold onto [our] butts." You never explicitly said X is about to occur or Y was going on behind the scenes that will soon entail Z. As well, no one, and I mean, NO ONE, asked you to offer up your "insight." You took it upon yourself to do as such. When one posts up cryptic, ambiguous statements (especially during a time of outward turmoil (such as was the case during your first appearance) to a fansite's comboxes, what exactly do you think is going to happen, GypoNolan? I'll tell you: speculation. Some good, some bad, some way out there, some skeptical, but yes, speculation will occur. With the exception of a few pissing matches between Confessors and a certain 2-3 trolls who made is seem like there were a million of them, this site, as far as the internet goes, is rather congenial, well self-policed, and on the whole a nice place to hang out. So forgive me if I chuckle at your preemptive strike against anyone who might deign to say "hey, you're not being fair."
To use a phrase our dear leader is want to toss out from time to time when a commenter is too full of him/herself: "Thanks for shopping at My Ticket Confession." But let me add another phrase Greggo was fond of: "Don't let the backdoor hit ya where the good Lord split ya."
I second that, 4:31. Amen, brutha.
ReplyDeleteSirois v Monty won the E-brake this am
ReplyDelete@tangent
ReplyDeleteI have been begging for the same for awhile now, I would gladly pay a nominal monthly fee if it meant I got a non-delayed audio feed or a live video broadcast, but alas I don't know the FCC legalities of something like that.
I believe there was a time in the early 00's where the internet stream was not delayed and we got to hear everything, it was great to play everquest and listen to the ticket.
My hunch is that the Masters coverage on K-Ticket will be much more tamed tomorrow vs. had JS won.. Just a hunch :)
ReplyDeleteGeorgio will be in full JS CYA mode explaining how he is still absolutely the greatest of all time, meanwhile Jordan continues to hit it in the water inexplicably on the 12th.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion for those lately complaining about stupid ads during their favorite Ticket shows - use the DFWSportsday app and skip through commercials. You can go back 1 hour and condense shows down a bit. When I catch up I use commercial breaks to make calls, do actual work, grab a bite to eat, live life etc and then go back when I have 30 to 60 minutes queued back up. Not sure I ever listen to ads anymore and usually don't miss any show content. Phone App is the only way to listen IMO.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is the only app I use now for streaming. Just to be able to start it up and immediately go back an hour had me sold. Just wish it had a better forward option besides the slider bar.
DeleteFirst off let me state that Gordon Keith is my leader. He pretty much single handedly created the line of humor that made the ticket the enormous success it became and still is today. But, man, I was so put off by the way he acted toward sirois during boom in the house recently. I'm referring to the audio segment where Mike recorded the females in his family completely wasted, questioning them if they think Rhyner is a good looking older guy, or some such. First off, Gordo QAS basically questioning whether Mikes mom was a loose lady in her day, which is 100% asking if "your mom was a whole?". Could Mike had responded better to Gordo being a complete jerk? Sure. But when it comes to mom's and all that that entails it's easy to understand how tensions can flare.
ReplyDeleteThe kicker is how gordon responded to comments on Twitter about the whole thing. What a pussy, unprofessional way to act. And this pains me to say this because I have admired the guy for most of my life. I know, I know, his mother recently passed away and it obviously took a huge emotional toll on the guy, but cmon, man. Grow up. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. This certainly does wreak of someone who has sat high upon his high horse for so long, isolated from any kind of criticism, that he just didn't know how to handle being called out for going too far.
5:11
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said. I enjoy Gordon and his line of humor, although I will say that at times he can pick on people too much for my taste. But the hypocrisy in that interaction is incredible. Hearing more from Sirois pulls back the curtain to show you how, behind the scenes, Gordon was a big baby about the whole thing. Sirois did to Gordo what Gordo has done to 1000 other people, and Gordo couldn't handle it. It's the classic "can dish it out but can't take it" situation.
I believe it's been pointed out here before how Gordon loves to dig into a stranger's personal life, into the depths, and even look for the bear traps in the process...however he reveals nothing about his own personal life, and misleads the P1 whenever possible (e.g. I was working on my 2-bedroom condo, cleaning my apartment complex's pool, etc.). The Sirois situation just illustrates that none of our heroes are perfect, and that Gordo has a much thinner skin than he expects those around him to have. I can't believe Norm (NOT my leader) is the one who sums this up perfectly: "stop pretending to be little red riding hood skipping through the forest...just stop"
T4, where the heck have you been? Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThanks Plainsman, just been wondering around here and there.
DeleteColor me shocked that Corby and Danny had no problem with the Romo/Mavs stunt. I'm glad Mike stood his ground on that one. It was an embarrassing moment in Dallas sports history. What the heck has Romo ever done to deserve all this?
ReplyDeleteAnyone attend\attending Jub Jam? If so, how was\is it?
ReplyDelete@11:55 Really? I'm trying to understand the romo animosity on this one. "What the heck has romo ever done to deserve all this?". Man, I don't know, maybe be a franchise leading quarter back for the most prolific team in the most popular league in America for a decade? And doing so with absolute class and grace the entire time? Did he make some costly mistakes along the way? Sure. It's true, he's human. But the opinions given by Mike and Jr Miller this past week have disappointed me a good deal. Yeah, he never won a superbowl. Which has become the gauge if a quarterback is a complete, 100% success, or failure as a professional. But let me ask you, will Phillip rivers be this scrutinized once he hangs it up? He's been an elite level qb for nearly a decade now but doesn't receive a tenth of the hate tony has, despite their career numbers basically mimicking each others. Are they hall of famers? Nah, no way. But were they unbelievable leaders for their respective teams? Yes sir. And if Cuban wanted to acknowledge him for being that, more power to him. And I thank him for doing so.
ReplyDeleteGeez, 1:04am, do you work for the Cowboys? Are you Mickey Spagnola? Are you Candace or Hawkins?
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty one side of the coin summation of Tones Rome's career. You left quite a lot out. Indeed, you left out the entirety of the other side of said coin. Perspective, buddy, it's all about perspective.
@1:04 anon. Ton Romes was a solid NFL QB on the most high-profile franchise. I believe he is also a very good egg, and I like and respect him. IMHO the recent criticism is being brought about because of the immediate A-Team analyst position he was offered with CBS. I don't understand what he has ever done to get that job...Notwithstanding how awful Phil Simms has been. The Cowboys have 3 recent HOFers: Troy, Emmitt, and M Irvin who have gone into broadcasting and even Troy Aikman had to practice for a year before he got the number 1 spot. Daryl "Moose" Johnston is on the C-team.
ReplyDeleteAnd also, if his career numbers match Phillip Rivers, that is exactly why he is criticized as a QB. It would be better if his numbers matched Peyton Manning or some such.
I thought the Mavericks thing was cheesy as a slice of pizza (with extra cheese), regardless of how great he was. Tony already has the experience of suiting up as a pro athlete. I'm glad so many people liked it for Tony's sake, but that type of thing should be reserved for Make-A-Wish kids dying of cancer. As Bill Parcells would say, "no disrespect" to Kids dying of cancer, that's just why I think it's cheesy.
Enough with the merits of Romo. Thanks.

Gordo's a genius, Gordo's a hack, Gordo's a tortured artiste, Gordo's a pseudo-intellectual, Gordo's inconsistent, Gordo's the smartest guy in the room (wait, am I thinking of Jake?), Gordo Gordo Gordo.
ReplyDeleteGordo's a dude on the radio that offers up some grade a mimicry, some rapid fire quick hitty comedic bits and pieces, and the occasional insightful comment on life. He also, at times, writes a moving/thoughtful piece in the local paper. Not everything he says is funny, insightful, or even correct. Not every article he's written is Pulitzer worthy. And like all of us, he's full of paradoxes, inconsistencies, and capable of less than stellar behavior. But for the love of Goldie's Vigor Fit, just enjoy the good stuff he brings to our listening experience and let him be.
BTW, The Shake Joint is plain awful. From the cooler than thou regular callers with the right sort of "take," to the worlds biggest blowhard this side of Mike Fisher, Sean Bass, to Dylan the Obnoxious Teen Who's Now In His 30s: it is the worst. Give me Country Force, please, Cat. Hell, gimme the guy who comes on afterwards who uses the term "showgram." Anything but those two Rome and Fish starter kits.
I agree with the Gordo points. But I actually think TSJ is quite listenable weekend entertainment. Tuned in this morning, and Jake and Sean's chemistry is miles ahead of months ago. These two don't get much space to take the mic and run with it in their weekday roles. So it's interesting that when they do, they oftentimes bring some legit substance.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have to agree on their regular call-in fanboys. Sometimes funny, sometimes a tired bit.
ReplyDelete120: Re Gordon, since you've described him in every conceivable way and your point is "take the good with the bad" -- one could say exactly the same thing about every personality on the Ticket and in the universe. I'm not sure what your point is -- that we shouldn't engage in criticism, or, for that matter, praise? Just don't understand what you seem upset about.
ReplyDeleteRe Shake Joint, I'm with 219. I tuned in today and thought the show was good. I've always thought the chemistry was better than average, although I would like a better balance between Jake and Sean. I don't know that I'd classify Jake as one of The Ticket's mic hogs (it has a 2 or 3 certified, at least), but Confessors have observed that sometimes Sean is too ready to concede points of disagreement and they may have a point. I think maybe he needs more "Sean segments," most of the assigned slots seem to go to Jake. But overall, I think the show is real good when it's not wandering off into sex and politics.
And absolutely -- give Country Force a whirl in a regular weekend slot, O Feline of the New World.
Did anybody else enjoy Justin on BaD as much as I did? More Justin, less Corby!
ReplyDelete@it's a man's meat:
ReplyDeleteI hardly listen to BaD but had the radio tuned in when I got in the car and the 1:30 NEWS segment had just started. It was INCREDIBLE!. Everyone asking Justin how he lost his leg and he went along with it all and gave all the details.
SPOILER ALERT: SPOILER ALERT.
I am going to summarize some of the points below for those that don't want to go back and listen on one of the alt web sites.
.
.
.
.
.
.Good P1's, please correct me if I got things wrong.
.
1. Justin had a growth on his knee for a few months when he was around 14. Hurt it bad (playing ball?) and went to the ER with what he thought was a fractured/broken leg. X-rays showed it was a tumor.
2. Went through chemo for several years but did not cure and had to take off the leg. (I think around age 17.)
3. Got to do a "Make-A-Wish" and this scared him because he thought he was dying. Finally got explained to him that kids with life-altering illnesses also got a M-A-W; not only those that were/are terminal.
4. First choice for M-A-W was to see Michael Jordan. Was explained to him that this is so popular MJ basically lines up 50 kids at a time and shakes their hand. So he went with his next in line, Kevin James.
5. Justin was a big "King of Queens" fan and wanted to meet Kevin James. Went on an all-expense paid trip to LA for a week. Sat on the couch on set and BS'd with KJ for about 30 minutes. Got KJ's work uniform from the show and it is in his (Justin's) closet right now.
6. Leah Remini is a "c___". Took a picture with Justin but not she was not really interested.
7. Conversation about getting KJ in studio on the GBL and seeing if he, KJ, remembers Justin without anyone giving KJ a heads up.
Thought this was one of the best segments I have heard lately. THUMBS UP?
That pretty much summed it up East! I always heard KJ was a jerk and Leah was cool. Guess not.
ReplyDeletePlainsman, my Gordo thoughts, if that's what you'd call 'em, were in response to 4/10 5:11 and 4/11 9:28. If you read those comments, mine might make more sense to you. Regardless.....I think it's fine to criticize and praise a host's handiwork. But to get genuinely peeved because they aren't the model of your eyes' perfection is silly. It's one thing to criticize show presentation and all that that entails (attitude, bit quality, and all that jazz); it's another to call a host a "pussy" (5:11's choice term) for not showing the decorum you'd have him. The thrust of my point is that if a host is such an existential "pussy" then what are you doing wasting your time bitching about him, much less listening to him and following him on Twitter?
ReplyDeleteI think neither Sean or Jake is existentially a "pussy," therefore I do tune in from time to time in hopes that they've gotten better. Sadly, they haven't. They've only gotten worse. Seeing how 80% of the show is about politics (if not outright, then by way of not so subtle political jabs and undertones) and and of that 80%, 60% is about sex (oh how Jake wants to be naughty Rant era Gordo--see, it all comes back to Goofy Deer!), I'm not sure what you find so agreeable about the show (?). Some of the sports HSOs are solid. But even those are usually delivered in a Rome cum Fish manner-which is about as off-putting as it gets.
Anyone else here a non-acknowledged e-brake this am during the Musers 8ish Rangers' segment? Junes intended to say, and quickly corrected to, "Now I am ready to have some success...." It initially came out as "Now, I am ready to have some sex...." Thought they would take some time and give him a good nut-kicking like pretending this to be what the Junes says at the end of a date. However, it was completely glossed over. OR, maybe I was the only one who heard it.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like it falls under Jub's "semen possible" category.
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on old school solo Norm today? I heard the classic opening, but had to get back to work before he signed on.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Donnie, solo Norm is the best Norm. If he needs a reaction to something he will always go to his producer. He has done this since Dan Bennett was his producer at KLIF.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see him start to scale things back a bit though. Even if he was just doing the drafts, Cowboys pre and post game shows and a few fill in's some here would say it was still too much.
Gordo read a fake news story as if it were real during Muse in the News this morning, and apparently suckered George and Junes into falling for it.
ReplyDeleteGordo, you're better than this.
https://www.buzzfeed.com/craigsilverman/this-false-story-about-a-husband-and-wife-discovering
No...Gordo isn't better than reading a fake news story. He's done it several times now.
ReplyDeleteI have very little sympathy for the hosts when they make a "mistake," mainly because they do zero show prep. Granted, Gordo is no Corby, but I remember several stories like this the past couple of years that he's run with.
Gordo just tweeted that it's a belated April Fool's joke.
ReplyDeleteEr, right.
Re: Anon at 4-17 12:45p - You were not the only one who clearly heard Junior state, "Now, I am ready to have some sex." I was thoroughly surprised when nothing at all was made of it. Junes is teflon, and I love him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation Gareth Corn. I think there should be a grassroots effort to make that a drop. Maybe somehow make BAD/Mino aware of it.
ReplyDeleteLove the great Gordo but there is no faster punch out than Sports Panties.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe monthly numbers with no surprises.

@kyle foster: whoa now. Sports panties has been a long time, not used enough, favorite of mine. So great.
ReplyDeleteP.s. Does anyone else feel Gordo has really been amazing with his 8:40 bits the last few months? It seems as if he's found new life with many of them and is churning out the drive off the road level laughs that had been missing for a little while,
ReplyDeleteWhat are the ratings among the Ticket show?
ReplyDelete
