CONFIDENTIAL TO ONE OR ANOTHER SIROIS: Have I Got a Guest for You
I don't know if Mike or Cash ever have a cup of coffee at MTC, but if they do:
Mike/Cash:
I couldn't help noticing that lately you have been talking a lot about the movie "The Meg."
It will feature a gigantic extinct shark known scientifically as Carcharodon megalodon.
I believe you intend to feature more megalodon talk on future Sirois-based programming.
I have a special guest to suggest that I am able to procure for you.
An actual megalodon.
Now, of course, there are no live megalodons left, suspension of disbelief in connection with "The Meg" notwithstanding.
In fact, there is not much of any megalodon left, alive or dead. As a shark, it was a cartilaginous fish (i.e., no actual bones), and cartilage is only rarely preserved in the fossil record. We have a very, very few fossils of some spinal bones, some coprolites (fossilized feces) . . .
. . . and teeth.
Most of the known megalodon teeth come from underwater sediments off the coast of the Carolinas. They are not particularly rare, but large, well-preserved teeth are somewhat unusual and costly.
Cue Vivaldi.
I have one.
This isn't a replica. It's the real thing, albeit fossilized, much of the original material replaced by phosphates, which give the tooth its black color. It's about six inches long and the serrations are intact. The root is well-preserved and the bourlette (the chevron-shaped structure between the root and the tooth) clearly defined. It was found by a diver who spends his days looking for these teeth off the coast of South Carolina.
It won't be much of an interview. In fact, it would do very little to enhance a radio presentation.
But it is pretty much the closest thing you can possibly get to having an actual megalodon in the studio with you.
Contact me at theplainsman1310@gmail.com or advise in the comments below. I will arrange for its secure delivery to you. I believe I can promise exclusivity for this appearance.
Hey, Confessors -- if you own a megalodon tooth, send me a snap and I'll post it here.
How much is it costing Eatzi's to run an ad in EVERY ad block?
ReplyDeleteJunior mused this morning what would happen to him if he yanked off Jerry's cap to reveal he wasn't wearing his hairpiece.
ReplyDeleteFireable offense?
He'd probably get banned from any and all Cowboy's related events, perhaps have charges brought against him for assault, and yes, fired.
ReplyDeleteWell it looks like old Bart Reagor is gonna need any bankruptcy lawyer u want.

Thanks for the breaking news, CLOSED. Amazing. Wonder if RD is current with The Ticket.
ReplyDeleteLooks like RD has been selling "Ford Credit" vehicles -- maybe repossessed cars that Ford needs to liquidate to get paid for bad loans to consumers who bought them in the first place, just speculating here -- and not remitting the proceeds to Ford, to the tune of about $116 million with $41 million due right now.
We know he didn't spend that money on production value for his ads.
Plainsman,
ReplyDeleteYour Megalodon offer to the Sirois twins is very interesting. You seem to know a lot about prehistoric life on earth. I am just curious with respect to the Megalodon - when did it live given the fact that the earth is 6000 years old? Did it live in the time between Adam and Eve and Noah's great flood? Obviously Noah only would have had to take all the 100s of thousands of land animals on his wooden ark and not sea life so perhaps the Megalodon lived until the time of Jesus? I am just trying to fit this into the context of our young earth.
I don't want to be disrespectful of anyone's beliefs, but suffice it to say that the Bishop Ussher chronology of the earth's history is a distinctly minority view, even among theologians.
ReplyDeleteThe Meg was around for a darned long time, from about 22 million to around 2 million years ago. Of course, according to the movie they're still around.
And folks, let's not get into a big megillah over creationism, what say?
Bad bits: The California Pizza Kitchen thing and Coco and Rick S. Both have been run into the ground.
ReplyDeletebe certain to buy tickets to the cirque showing of the meg. there are many surprises in store. here is link.
ReplyDeletethe 7pm show.

My bad - I herewith retract my poke at Creationism fan fiction. Looking forward to the Meg film.
ReplyDeleteKul.
ReplyDeleteI'm a member of a neighborhood posting-and-comment site where I've posted pictures of fossils I've found from the Late Cretaceous in the Austin Chalk found in in construction sites in my neighborhood (100 to 65 million years ago, give or take), and you should see some of the responses I get from the creationist constituency.
So far, no interest from the Sirois camp.
ReplyDeleteI heard some of Corky's story yesterday about Greggo at some sporting event. Come on, admit it, who wouldn't loved to see Greggo slobberknock old Corky?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been made with my sacred honor.
ReplyDeleteThe Reagor Dykes Auto Group bankruptcy is juicy!
Sorry Plainsman,
ReplyDeleteThe issues with Reagor has nothing to do with repossessed vehicles. Repos are typically sold at auction, not returned to a dealer.
Most dealers don't possess the cash to buy all their vehicles from the factory. they, like most of us, buy on credit. "Floor Plan" financing allows dealers to borrow against retail inventory with a revolving line of credit. The dealer then repays that debt as they sell their inventory and borrows against the line of credit to add new inventory.
In this case, Reagor Dykes also used Ford's financing arm, Ford Credit. Ford Credit is claiming that Reagor has sold vehicles to customers but has failed to pay them back in a timely manner. Each vehicle from the factory has its VIN and value known by Ford Credit and they run monthly inventory to see which vehicles have sold. They claim that Reagor waits 55 days or more to pay for their sold cars or have falsified documents as a whole. Ford Credit also claims that Reagor took out more than one loan on a specific VIN for two different locations.
Re: Robert Wilonsky, this, of course, needs a separate thread from the Plainsman -

Funny the Hardline can't have any Cowboys audio today because the Cowboys have an off day.
ReplyDeleteIf I was 1310 management I would be pissed. The company spends the money to send them to Cali and they can't spend some time interviewing players or coaches ahead of time so that they will have show content. No show prep.......
Why are they out there ? Play golf, eat fish tacos and look at the ocean. I guess I answered my own question.
Anon 4:03 -
ReplyDeleteI did not get to listen a lot these past two days. However, I believe Corby said on Thursday they were staying over an extra day due to a kick ass concert everyone wanted to attend.
I heard today that it is due to Rhyner attending a Jackson Brown concert at the Santa Barbara bowl with a lot of the Cowboys staff. We know Rhyner is close to Garrett, concert-wise, from previous reports of concert attendance. I did not get to listen to the whole segment so someone help me out here. Appreciate you pal.
ET P1
The most disappointing aspect of this week was the relative lack of cross pollination between the shows. It would seem to me that Oxnard week would be more of an event if there were deep night episodes and in general more round tables and group discussions across all the shows. Oxnard = missed opportunity
ReplyDeleteA little surprised the cash-strapped Cumulus continues to support what must be a very expensive remote for so little return.
ReplyDeleteAs noted, nothing from The Hardline.
I could do without athlete interviews all year round, so dreary are most of them.
That leaves Gordon's ceaseless attempts to embarrass ill-educated rookies.
I have to agree -- there is very little special about training-camp week.
I do like hearing David Moore live on mic.
Did they ever get the webcam working? It was on for a couple of hours and was clearly not working right. Looks like they took it down and left it down.
ReplyDeleteFor the record I have not consumed edible weed.
ReplyDeleteI am willing to consider this possibility.
No bitching about Julie huh?
Well, that's an improvement over TC already.
Big Bob Wilonsky's big ass chevron across his belly skairt me. And he told none of it. God bless him.
If I never heard another JG presser I would not miss them. It's obligatory that they go. I could not possibly care less about the slate of interviews. Will Clay is a highlight usually.
Oh Doocy. Kudos 2 him. Stick to your guns.
Toe the line mfers.
No,YOU take off your hat you sanctimonious phony.
I was listening to CQH's yesterday. Will someone try to explain to know it all Corby that it's hard for taxi's to drop their prices due to all the fees they have to pay. They have to pay a fee every time they enter any airport, and high fee's for license and some time rental fees. Uber is exempt from practically all of that. Until there are drastic adjustments made, taxi's will probably be extinct in most metropolitan area's soon.
ReplyDeleteComing in with the high heat, Cacto!
ReplyDeleteIs it just not possible for Corby and Danny to STFU while Mike tells his Jackson Browne story?
ReplyDeleteVery cool that the Musers are at Jimmy’s this morning. Jimmy’s is one of things I miss most in Dallas, I just love that place. I’ll always remember me and the wife having lunch there as preparation for her birthing our second son; we knew she was already in prelabor and he was born just a few hours later. When I worked downtown I went to Jimmy’s about once a week for lunch.
ReplyDeleteI watched Marie DiCarlo handroll her meatballs in the store when she was in her 80s and blind.
ReplyDeleteJimmy's rocks the bells. Love their sammies, olive oils, and Eyetalian imports.
ReplyDeleteThe Hardline just played the worst audio from camp.
ReplyDeleteCorby acting as an Indian reporter with a Cowboy spare. Not sure if that still flys in this new world.
That interview had to be on the cutting room floor and they picked it up to prove that they had done something in California that related to the reason that they had been sent there.
Hold on to your butts.
ReplyDelete@ The Plainsman
ReplyDeleteWhat are we holding on for?
That interview with Big Bob was fascinating. Good for him, thinking I need to go get scanned.
