Just an Excuse for New Thread and New Redhead
If the apparent continuing decline of Dak Prescott is a material factor in the Cowboys' suckage, can we look back on the promotion of Kellen Moore to quarterbacks coach as the preposterous move it seemed at the time?
Ah, one might say, that's how Jason Garrett began his own dizzying ascent in the coaching ranks after his own undistinguished career as a Slinger of the Big Pigskin.
Yessss . . . . one might say that. And what might one's point be?
Best. Red. Ever.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is directed more towards the last thread; sorry Plains if I'm continuing the subject. I did not know Russ Martin was even still on the air. I tried to listen to RM years ago when he was somewhat popular. I absolutely could not stand that guy. The constant stopping of his taped bit to make unfunny comments. The constant unfunny berating of the little producer guy Spiddle. Now I'm seeing that he stalked Rhyner's trash?! What a loser! Anyone that listens to this idiot must be a loser! I mean, I can't stand Corby either, but give me THL any day over this R M clown!
ReplyDeleteLoser here.
ReplyDeleteRuss also runs a foundation that gives thousands of dollars to the families of fallen police officers. The only thing Corby runs is his mouth.
So, 539, are you RM, part of his crew, or a fan?
ReplyDeleteI guess I would call myself an all day P-1 who has started looking elsewhere from 3:30 to 7:00.
ReplyDeleteAnd what did I say at 5:39 that isn't true?
Because Slinky addressed RM and his listeners as losers. Was covering all bases.
ReplyDeleteActually, Corbles does do a lot of charity work. He, unlike others, doesn't run his mouth about it.
ReplyDelete@ 9:53
ReplyDeleteCan we get a bullet-pointed list?
If you'd do the research online like I did, maybe you wouldn't have asked the question.
ReplyDeleteThe "loser listener" may have been a little harsh, but that guy came off as a supreme jerk! And didn't he have some violence against women issues?
ReplyDeleteUnclear. Wikipedia entries on minor figures are often unreliable (because created or edited by the subject himself/herself), but here's what it says about that:
ReplyDelete"Southlake, TX, police arrested Russ Martin while at Larry North Fitness on July 18, 2008, for charges of aggravated assault-bodily injury-deadly weapon following an incident occurring on July 14, 2008, concerning his then girlfriend Mandy Blake. Martin was accused of pulling her hair, kicking her, and brandishing a pistol. His charges were later reduced to misdemeanor assault. Two weeks prior to Martin's scheduled court date he accepted a plea bargain and pleaded no contest. Martin was placed on two years of deferred probation, and was required to complete a batterer's intervention program to clear his record. On Feb. 10, 2009, nearly eight months after the incident, Mandy Blake filed a complaint with the Southlake police department, claiming she had been coerced into making a statement for what she considered a very minor incident. In an interview with Janet St. James, Martin stated that no one from the DA's office or Southlake police had ever contacted him to get his side of the story."
Hey Hardline, want to chase off listeners? Start the show with Corby talking about some of his music shows.
ReplyDeleteDo Corby and Jason Garrett have the same amount of disdain from the P1s?
ReplyDeletePman, I know corby isn't everyone's cup of tea. He's easily the most criticized host on this knee slappingly fantastic blog you've built here... But I'll be dog gone if in damn near every thread, the 9 out of 12 anti corby posts aren't by the same lonely as hell fella who doesn't have much else to do. I know there's really nothing you can do about it and at this juncture it's pretty easy to spot and ignore. But man oh man. I can't imagine what happened to that guy that made him so gosh darn bitter and/or jealous. To each their own, I suppose.
ReplyDelete@2:16
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as one of the people who has posted criticism of Corby, I can assure you there is more than one of us.
It still amazes me that after how many years Gordon has to be on radio silence during the Troy Aikman segment. Was Troy that upset about it? Good grief. Get over it.
ReplyDeleteDid Craig participate in the Troy segment this morning? My attention wandered, but I think it may have been George only.
ReplyDeleteCraig participated. Asked some good questions. I think they basically tag-teamed him.
ReplyDelete8:54, can you elaborate? Why is Gordon on radio silence during Aikman's segment?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theunticket.com/gordo-pisses-off-troy-aikman/
ReplyDeleteI don't believe this is why he's radio silent with Troy, although it's probably why there's no non-football talk with Troy
I think anon 2:16 would be in for a rude awakening. Buddy, go to any forum, social media forum that is, where the subject is the Ticket, and you will find plenty of Corby backlash. Go to reddit, the unticket, and type in Corby, then tell us there are only a few people. Corby probably isn't a bad guy, he just doesn't relate well to a lot of listeners. I'll turn that around, I think it's only a couple of people, I'll bet Ticket employee's, that come to his defense.
ReplyDelete...anon 1:11 pm here again, I was curious how many threads on here that mention Corby, lol, you have to go back to Aug 8th post. At least Corby moves the needle.
ReplyDeleteThat’s what Mike from Duncanville told Jake before their fight.
DeleteRe: Corby
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, I had my fill with him and got my old iPhone out and loaded it up with podcasts for my commute. I haven't listened to the Hardline since. Yes, he was the reason that I stopped being an afternoon Ticket P1.
There are a lot of us out there that feel that the afternoon show would be better off remade. And there are a lot of people out there who feel that it's great the way it is now. But, to say that it's one guy that is vocal about Corby and his presentation is way, way off base.
Nice tribute this morning from Norm and Donnie for their old friend and broadcast partner Leon Simon who passed away yesterday. Leon's man on the street view of sports was quite refreshing back in the day.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that's sad news about Leon. He always put a different spin on Cowboys talk back in the day. I think he had a barber shop if I remember. I know "Marge" drives some people crazy, but I laugh my ass off at "Marge"
ReplyDelete1) Count me in as another corby-detester, and 2) I agree with 1:11 that there may very well be a small band of B & C Teamers from the mothership who frequently chime in to defend him. It would not shock me if he made the interns post positive stuff and/or defend him here and elsewhere. That's the kind of guy he is.
ReplyDeleteTo those of you who have a difficult time with Corby (and I'm one of those from time to time)try this: listen to Cowherd, Francessa, Greenberg, Golic, et al for five minutes and if you haven't put a bullet in your brain pan come back to Corby and then he doesn't seem so bad. I would take Corbles on his worst day over any of the previously mentioned gas bags and everything else that passes for sports talk these days.
ReplyDelete@4:28
ReplyDeleteYou are kind of making the point. I'm a Ticket P-1 because I don't want the bloviating talking head who thinks his word is the definitieve word. Gordon can retire Guy Sports because we are getting four hours of Guy Sports every afternoon.
@ 2:16 am...trust me, there ain't nobody jealous of Corby!
ReplyDeleteIt's hilarious to see triggering when the corby hate spikes and the comments start flowing in like,"If you don't like it change the channel..." It's strange some people can't take their own advice when it comes to the comments section on any blog. I do love hearing corby complain about his wife, calling her a "roommate," or that "other person in my house." I'm sure he's got other names for her, but I can't remember at the moment.
ReplyDeleteMadame, sweetie, sugar, sweatheart and bitch.
DeleteThe real emergency brake this week:
ReplyDeleteThe Musers do a remote in Grand Prairie to promote an event that gets cancelled halfway through the show.
Great wireless segment by Gordon, though.
Who is the biggest offender of saying "this thing" on the station? It is such a verbal crutch.
ReplyDeleteThat's an old Hardline trope, if it's what I'm thinking of.
ReplyDeleteIt's Mike's phraseology that has been borrowed by others.
ReplyDelete“The Cowboys are about to go on a big run” Craig Miller
ReplyDeleteGood call.
Hilarious that the ticket hosts continue to fall for the cowboys con job.
Well done Seattle.
They're not going to do anything until Garrett is gone! The guy is a joke!
ReplyDeleteDid that Will Chambers guy get fired from ESPN 103.3? Matt McClaren was on this morning and they said he was the new co-host. And he was kidnapped by aliens previously as well.

ReplyDeletethings that make me punch out of the Ticket
ReplyDelete1) awards show talk: it pleases me when no one else on THL has listened and Corbles gets to try to justify this four hour ego boost. I can see why some of them say No Thanks and stay home.
2)any and all Cowboys pressers. I despise them all. From the State of the Team address to the Monday post-mortem or backslapping. Not one of them is worth listening to since the Biggest of Tunas left
3)Interviews that are pointless. I will give them a few moments. There have been some great ones. The 3 on 3 series recently was a pleasant surprise all around. The UFC fighters were not.
If the Fan was not wedded to the Cowboys and Rangers I might give them a listen more often. As it is I can get all the propaganda I want on a daily basis from a myriad of sources. I do not need to hear Jerry or Jason or any other representative of the teams avoid the question and disregard the issue. Jerry word salad makes me stabby.
Dez still has no job and Kaepernick does. Even if it is hawking shoes.
Hockey is on the horizon and I for one am glad of it. I relish the moments that Danny cues the music and cuts off Corby in the midst of some gibberish.
I really don't mind kickass Corby telling us tales of kickassedness. It's better when the Sirois are in the story.
There is a waiting room with some baseball card memorabilia at the Dallas VA hospital that was donated by Rusty Greer. I don't know that I have ever seen that mentioned here or anywhere else. I hope you never have to go see it.
Always enjoy Cactus Coast-to-Coast.
ReplyDeleteNobody gets their freak on like Cactus!
ReplyDeleteCactus, the only thing I don't like about hockey season [I'll admit, not a big fan] is it always knocks out "The Top Ten". I missed Fake Jerry yeaterday. Is there any site to hear it?
ReplyDeletefake jerry wasn't on yesterday
ReplyDeleteSlinky - Fake Tiger spent the night at Jerry's house and answered the phone when the Musers called. Fake Tiger said Jerry was too drunk on JW Blue to come to the phone. I am usually not a fan of Fake Tiger but this was pretty funny, if you can find it.
ReplyDeleteGotcha! I don't listen to Hardline and saw all the Stars activity down town last nite and assumed there was no Top Ten.
ReplyDeleteSpoiler alert: Musers talked to Fake Jerry today but Tiger was still there. And Koko.
ReplyDeleteCan we just stay on this thread, not start a new one for a while. That redhead!
ReplyDeleteThe Ticket . . . Marconi . . . denied.
ReplyDeleteYes, but . . . 5 more years of Stars hockey. Yay.
