A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

Back
Man, terrible wifi in Europe, even in places where you would expect it to be good. I didn't opt for an overseas phone plan during my stay, so wifi was it.
Which basically meant -- no Ticket.
Of course, Mrs. Plainsman would not have tolerated much Ticket listening on this voyage anyway. The Musers would begin the broadcast day in mid-afternoon, prime depressing-ancient-cathedral and dreary-small-towns viewing time, and heading into the less-flavorful-foods-than-one-might-expect dinner hour.
Doesn't look like much of interest went on during my absence, judging from the comments.
Except, of course, the new Summer Bash song. Doesn't ring a bell with me -- what is it?
Anything else?
Thanks for not blowing up the site during my absence.
To celebrate, I offer you a notable redhead from the past:

ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteMr Plainsman,
ReplyDeleteDid you have a steak while in Europe?
Darren
I did not, but I heartily desired one. "Europe," in this case, means Portugal and Spain. I thought the food would be more interesting than it turned out to be.
ReplyDeleteI also don't need to see any more cathedrals in my life.
Welcome back, Plainsman. I felt the same way about castles last time I went to Europe. Once you've seen several castles, you've seen 'em all!
ReplyDeleteYou did miss a huge major storm on 6/9 after which Corby complained on Twitter that he had no advance warning of, and then he basically got flooded with criticism for not paying attention to our esteemed local DFW weathermen. The Musers actually had Pete Delkus on last Friday to talk about the storm. Pretty good stuff.
Again, welcome back.
I keep hearing the station playing the chief Kunkle bit. Apparently the Hardline did a bit, that featured Kunkle on the show, analyzing that day. Are you serious? I remember that day, and Greggo was hosting alone, and it was Greggo basically...just being Greggo! There was no cryptic intentions on Greggo's part to trick up anybody. But I get it, they have to kill segments. What it was, was a segment from the days when the show was enjoyable and fun to listen. I think the only thing that will ever be analyzed about Corby, will be how he ever got a job on the Ticket.
ReplyDeleteNone of my ginger-loving readers going to tell us who the dame is?
ReplyDeleteThought sure I'd have some interest in that tease.
Madelyn Rhue?
ReplyDeleteDirk Day is probably my favorite Ticket day of the year. Man I just absolutely love that guy. I’m still thrilled by the fact that I got a head nod from him at a Nuggets game last season when I walked behind the bench and yelled “Dirk you’re the best, you’re our hero!”
ReplyDeleteI didn't know we were supposed to guess.
ReplyDeleteSuzy Parker
Wow. That hiker interview.
ReplyDelete731, correct. No requirement to guess, just thought it would provoke some curiosity.
ReplyDeleteP1Rick, Madelyn Rhue was not a terrible guess.
I would feel better about buying insurance from Sharon Moore of City Credit Union, or whatever affiliate of CCU sells insurance, if she knew how to pronounce "insurance."
ReplyDeleteI have not noticed how she says it. I will start paying attention.
DeletePman - Suzy Parker was considered for the role of Cleopatra that eventually went to Elizabeth Taylor.
ReplyDeleteQuite correct, 1053. One of the hottest models of the 1950s, worked into the early 1960s. Did do a spot of acting here and there.
ReplyDeleteI told my wife "once you've seen one ancient European cathedral, you've seen them all". Unfortunately, she didn't agree. Saw about 6 of those things on my last trip. I was definitely ready for the bar every night.
