A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

Reagor-Dykes CFO Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud
https://www.lubbockonline.com/news/20190618/former-rdag-cfo-shane-smith-admits-to-federal-wire-fraud-charge
Interestingly, neither Reagor nor Dykes has been indicted, and there is apparently some reason to believe they did not know about the massive fraud scheme.
However, they both personally guaranteed the dealerships' indebtedness to Ford Credit Co., and a United States district judge has just ordered ol' Bart to pay up his portion of the $110 million indebtedness. Dykes settled with Ford for around $58 million.

He and his wife have also been sued on personal guaranties of around $2.5 million by other creditors of the company.

Culpable or not, this episode has exposed Bart as something other than the warm-and-fuzzy guy who can magically make "any car U want" appear before you. If anyone were misled on that score.

And I don't know who he's talking to here, but check this out:

Maybe Tony Romo can lend him a few bucks.
New punch out alert! Corby karaoke!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning. It just came on the top ten. I was able to avoid permanent ear damage.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what a Bart Reagor is. What's this got to do with the Ticket?
ReplyDeleteReagor-Dykes Auto Group ads, featuring incredibly cheesy low-fi phoned-in self-testimonials from Bart himself, aided and abetted by adolescent teenage girls and Tony Romo, were ubiquitous on The Ticket (and elsewhere) for several years until the whole thing came crashing down last year.
ReplyDeleteIf you are a 100% stream listener, perhaps you never heard them, I don't know. But terrestrial radio was clotted with these cruddy ads for months and months.
Interesting. I remember lots of ads from the Little One. Meador was the worst. Good contractors, that lady with the high-octane voice who sells insurance. But I don't recall Reagor dykes.
ReplyDelete"I've never thrown a touchdown pass, but I can get you any car you want."
ReplyDeleteMike talking about the first record he wore out was good radio. Really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it?
ReplyDeleteDerek and the Dominos. THL's music segments are my favorites. I am not really a sports fan, I am a baseball fan and casually follow other sports.
ReplyDeleteI remember when that album came out. I thought the songs and performances were great, but the production was muddy and raucous, kind of a painful album to listen to. Unquestionably a classic, though.
ReplyDeleteDuane really could have used a tuner.
ReplyDeleteYup. Vocal mix a mess, too.
ReplyDeleteThe album was not a big hit on release and was only indifferently, and sometimes rather negatively, reviewed. (Can't believe the thing is almost 50 yo.) Critical estimation has elevated with the passage of time.
Cover art by Frandsen de Schomberg.
I think the messiness adds to the art.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the reasons it was not a hit when released was because it was marketed as including Eric Clapton.
ReplyDeleteThe quality of the recording was probably not an issue to the rock and roll consumer. Have you heard the original Woodstock album?
Dammit. NOT marketed as including Eric Clapton. NOT

ReplyDeleteNot quite. Jim Gordon (murderer) was the drummer.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: Gordon did play some piano on the album, including the coda to "Layla." My error.
ReplyDeleteAnd he only murdered his mother. He's still in prison.
ReplyDeleteGordon also beat up the woman he and Eric Clapton most likely cheated out of a songwriting credit (and thus millions in royalties) for co-writing the outro piano melody, Rita Coolidge. Bad Dude.

Had to laugh at the Corby karaoke comments. That was pretty brutal listening. Hope we don't get a second helping of Corby singing today with summer bash rehash.
ReplyDeleteThat documentary didn't hurt Michael Jackson one bit Corby!! Not one bit. Last nite, Amy Lawrence was having people call in with their favorite Jackson songs. She was a huge fan. That documentary has been totally forgotten.
ReplyDeleteGordon did another story on the Billy Chemirmir case today. A civil suit describes six more murders attributed to him, bringing the total to 18. (Goes without saying that civil-suit claims are not convictions, or even, in this case, indictments.)

I caught the tail end of the top ten tonight. Eh...Danny, I guess that "comedy" thing isn't as easy as it looks huh? At least Corby's fake laugh was on par!
ReplyDeleteYou're talking about a new segment they have introduced, Danny's Pig Pen, or something like that. That was also the Corby's Karaoke. It hasn't been good. Danny may want to stick with slapping a bass.
ReplyDeleteI almost start crying when they play old vintage ticket bits from back in the day. We didn't realize how good we had it. THL Bob Ley bit took me back to those great times. There were days the Ticket was the only reason to get out of bed.
ReplyDelete@anon 9:21, I start crying too but mainly cuz I'm so much older now. It was good times. You had THL 11-2 (if I remember right) followed by D&M. If your job required driving around all day, it was great. THL today is a lot of Corby Schick, which I agree isn't worth the time. I listen to Stephan A but he's full of crap too, like when he suggested that maybe the whole Jussie Smollet thing was so he could bring attention to gay violence...Yeah right!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know why Jake-Z is not on the NBA free agent special? Demaris and Norm are just alright; Jake would have brought a lot to the table.
