A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

Conrad's Back?
Did I miss an announcement?
Or isn't he really back?
Gotta say, today was awesome. George having to read all day was epi. He added in the characters, even better. I know they may be passing their prime, but still, "we can do what they do, they can't do what we do"
The novel is experiencing slow but steady sales. I haven't done much marketing but will be stepping that up. I've finished a first draft of book number 2 (a Christmas novella, out this fall) and about halfway through book 3 (short stories, out this spring or summer). Mainly having fun with the process.
Also working on some songwriting with a Nashville guy. We think we may have something (don't all aspiring artistes?).
Every once in a while I think about throwing up another post, but, having retired, I don't want to be the Jason Witten of Responsible Ticket Journalism. Certainly still listening to The Little One.
Probably not the most agreeable HSO with most out there, but here goes:
I am not minding, not one bit, JaM Session on Sunday afternoons. It seems as though JJT has heard the almost unanimous complaints about the arrogant and douchey way he comes off (at leat on-air) and has done something about it. The result is, IMHO, a rather listenable and dare I say even likeable Sunday afternoon listen. JJT has scaled back, way back, the name dropping/__local athlete is my buddy, "I'm sexxxy!" crap that we all find so very annoying, unlistenable; conversely, MMc has pretty much rid himself of the TMI/cringe factor that bedevilled him in the past. All in all, it's a helluva better listen than the national feed. What's more, they (especially MMc) touch on the local nightlife scene that occurs north of Mockingbird Lane, which is nice. Because not all of us -frankly, very very few of us- run in the cool-kid East Dallas/Oak Cliff scenes that Sirois, Danny, Rhyner, Corby, and others at the station habituate.
Good to hear you are enjoying and making progress with the writing endeavor. Wish there was a way for us to support you and not "blow your cover". I understand the concern with the P1 bits that would happen in the comments. Makes me sad though.
Blogger has been unusually buggy and difficult-to-use lately after some recent changes. Hoping it becomes more Plainsman-friendly soon.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed with this latest pics. The last two were top notch.
ReplyDeletesheesh, your girl's hot as shit!
ReplyDeleteConrad was sick. He got off the sick, Cat, and returned to work.
ReplyDeleteIf you must know, she won the MTC audition owing to a strong resemblance to a former Plainsman compaƱero mujer.

ReplyDeletePlainsman,
ReplyDeleteCheckin' in on ya, bud. How goes the book writing? Life in general? Your loyal MTC commenters want to know.
Very kind of you to inquire, 836.

A happy Val Day to all, and thanks again.

So yeah, I"m down with JaM Session.
I get crapped on in 3-2-1...and...
