A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."
Jerry had a "Did you like those three Super Bowls?" moment on that other station today (WFAA has a summary.
He got real testy, not with a caller as in the classic Ticket moment, but with the hosts when they asked if there was a leadership void in the team. He tried to smooth things over later then he ended with a hilarious threat: "There's an old adage. Don't piss an old man off with a little money. It'll get you."
Gopher - Anon said it was the other station. I have noticed that The Fan is more scorched earth against the Cowboys organization than The Ticket. Agree with Anon 8:59 that The Ticket should dump their promo campaign as 105.3 is harder hitting even if they are the Flagship station of the Cowboys.
Between the hosts and Fake Jerry, the Ticket roasts Jerry daily. The Fan doesn't and can't do that. You'll never hear the Fan talking about Jerry's toupee or that Jerry bought Gene a boat because he was cheating on her.
And, the Ticket crushed the Fan in the October ratings. Funny how all the people who have been acting like the Ticket is dying are suddenly silent on this page. Now that Nielsen is combining the stream and over the air numbers, we're finally getting a true ratings picture, and it says the Ticket is still #1, by a big margin.
Didja ever stop to think that that particular topic, at least the terms in which you put it--that is tantamount to a false dichotomy--is ooooold hat around here and that might be the reason? Or better yet, the ratings Peter posted just came out and this thread is two days old and folks haven't gotten around to discussing it?
Naw. Not after your nuke. Drop. The. Mic. Brutus. Whew! I'd hate to get into an argument with you! You'd wipe the floor clean with any interlocutor!
In the end, it's singular personalities with opinions. Some guys are harder on the team than others. I'm not sure comparing stations is appropriate. When it comes to roasting the team, there are examples of hosts on both stations going in harder than others.
TC’s recent 11-minute YouTube video with Bric on his ranch his extremely well done, in my opinion. It obviously helps that Bric is a very compelling and thoughtful dude, but TC’s production and editing work is superb.
I am also impressed by the new IJB videos. I am a D1P1 of IJB, have listened to every one, but would not have thought I would care about video of these two guys talking to each other. But it’s actually pretty cool. And again the “production values” are great for an independent product, especially on the outdoor video where they must have a third person handling the camera switches? Hoping to see the owl one of these days.
I thought Bart Reagor was a once in a generation d-bag dude bro sales guy the likes of which we would not see pushing product on the little ticket again but the double whammy of the d-bag dude bro sales guys for BoE is right up there. They sound like Chris-Chris' long lost brothers after snorting a mirror full of blow.
Something tells me that we've probably seen the last of Mike for a long while, if not for good. He's a master at knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. I bet he's folding and going off into that good night--perhaps popping up from time to time on The Ticket, especially when baseballs rolls around and/or another classic rock icon bites the dust. But even those pop on Jers will be very few and very far in between, if they ever occur.
Mike can now apply to himself what he used to say about some old broad or old band: "In her/their day..."

So much for the Ticket promo boast that they are not the mouthpiece station for the Cowboys.

ReplyDeleteThat happened on the Flagship station, 105.3, not the Ticket you know.

ReplyDeleteOh boy..."Snake $hit", just another of Corby's many, many unfunny bits!
ReplyDeleteRemind us why you listen every day if you hate Corby so much
ReplyDeleteMan, 323, what a drop the mic statement!

Lots of hugging girlfriends on the couch just like last time
ReplyDeleteMike just tweeted out his new podcast on a Google Drive link.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/theoldgreywolf/status/1324849751532179457?s=20
Does this mean he's self publishing, so to speak?
ReplyDeleteFYI, that Tweet is no longer available. That is, it was deleted by Mike.
ReplyDeleteI think the comment from the last thread about Peak Mike and Peak Ticket being some time ago might be more correct than not. Guess we'll see.
It's his big episode with Hansen. Looks like he didn't take the time to edit it at all either, as it still references The Athletic
