Cheap White Elephant Comment String

Image result for redhead with white elephant

Pretty good so far (9:30 AM at this writing).

Corby's good on these shows.  Jake's a good writer.  Junior laying back.  Donovan doubling down on his "Magic did not have HIV/AIDS" conspiracy theory.  Stevie Wonder theory makes more sense.

Comment.

  1. At halftime I'd say it's going pretty well this year.

  2. And then Gordon showed up with his grandmother's used vibrator. Seriously?

  3. Overall a solid WED. Not an all timer, but not bad either. Now the IG with Rhyner was magnificent! Could've for that to be a semi regularly occurring showgram.

  4. Took a late lunch around 130om today. Heard killer's ad in the car and immediately looked for a brick wall to crash thru.

  5. The Gordo-led segment was awful. It was very rated R. While I am no prude, I have no desire to hear talk about vibrators, and various other similar topics. I feel bad for Julie, who sounded uncomfortable as she good-naturedly tried to go along, but I feel bad for me, as Gordo is my favorite personality on the station.
It may have gotten better. I stopped listening after 45 or 60 minutes or so.

  6. If you really look at Gordon and how he behaves on mixes with other shows, on roundtables, and during Biggest Show, you'll start to see how disrespectful and just flat out not funny he is. Juvenile and lowest common denominator, every time.

  7. I have a love hate relationship with Gordo. I think he is at times brilliant but I can only tolerate him in short doses when he is left to his own devices as he was yesterday. It brings out all his worst inclinations I think. There is a lot of punching down going on when he puts the likes of Julie, Killer, Tony or other lower ranking person on the spot for is uncomfortable fire starting. Maybe its all been cleared with them before hand but it isn't like they have the standing at the station to not go along with what he's doing. Like James I punched out of 3 to 7 when it turned into the Rant and came back for the Norm football throw challenge and IG with big Bob and The Old Grey Wolf.

  8. I totally agree with this Gordo stuff. Sometimes I love him, e.g., Randy Cody this morning, but I’m finding him more and more insufferable. I wish he could just relax and let the game come to him. He seems intent on marking his territory in situations like yesterday. He’s obviously made a great career for himself but comes off as increasingly insecure.

  9. Excellent, really outstanding, Cowboys post-games with Corby, Jake, and Donovan. They have some really interseting third-party information about Cowboys futility, and perspicacious first-party observations on the game.

When I hear Ticket presentations like this, I think -- Corby, he can be really, really good.

These three are really interacting perfectly for a post-game joint.

Damn, Donovan's "Dan Shower" analogy for the Cowboys made me giggle.

Hey, Plainsman, I alluded to the changes in Neilsen audiences on MTC back in July when news of a drop in Rangers TV ratings of 76 percent since 2012 was reported by John Ourand. Ourand also noted a drop in SF big Giants TV ratings too.

BTW, Mike/UTA basketball spots are produced horribly. Wow! Not even worth the money UTA paid.

  11. I like Jack McCall's observation that Gordon marks his territory. Good description.

  12. I keep saying, and I think there is a growing sample size that when you team Corby up with Jake there is very good chemistry. Corby has done several post game Cowboys shows with Jake and he is really funny and good spirited. I think the I dont give an F of the Hardline proper led by almost 70 year old Rhynes brings out the annoying aspects of Corby but when you team him with an ultra prepared, young and vibrant Jake then Corby shines

    1. I may be alone in this thought but I think Jake is great. Even if I don’t like what he ends up saying on air I never have any doubt that he has spent hours and hours preparing to say it.

  13. I agree. "Marking his territory" is pretty spot on.

  15. Speaking of The FAN, I flipped between all three sports stations for Cow talk. The FAN is now mentioning their ratings victories. Doing it on every show, each show claiming they've been number one in their slot for the past three months, and thanking the awfully named TOLOs for listening.

  16. I didn't listen to much of White Elephant, but enjoyed Bob, Dan, and George together. That's a pretty good team right there. George has probably become my favorite Ticket personality because he's funny, self deprecating, talented, and seems pretty tolerate to other crap going on around him. Gordo can be great still, but seems like he's trying too hard and I didn't have time to listen to much of his 3-7 segment. I thought Corby pretty much ruined the morning shift with his mic hog routine. Why can't he shut up and let others talk a bit more? Craig seems like he's half out the door most of the time, though.

  17. Not sure how many remember the "Where's Greggo?" days, but as of this writing (December 9), Greg, who has been very active on Twitter, has tweeted nothing since November 20. I'm hoping he's OK.

  18. I have been noticing his absence for some time. Just got around to posting this comment tonight (evening of Dec 9), and it turns out he just started tweeting again about a half hour ago.
Here's the first one from him:

"Heart issues and hospitals suck....I’m back and have plenty of HSO’s to catch up on......"
