I like it when Confessors have inside information and share it with us. Or claim to have it. Truth to tell, persons claiming special knowledge in this space do not have a great record. Many years ago I heard from a Ticket person who said that he got his laugh for the day every time he would see in social media someone claiming to have inside information. But I'd love to have a reliable pipeline, even if anonymous.
In the last thread, we had one confessor saying that Bob Sturm was going to move to The Hardline.
More recently, another said that a Muser, tired of the early mornings, was going to move to PM Drive.
Either would be fine with me. Even if Jake ended up being a Muser, I'd absolutely listen to an AM show with a George/Jake/Gordon lineup. I think the sparks would soon fly between Jake and Gordon -- Gordon isn't always . . . welcoming to other funny people on the show, and Jake has done some fantastic bits filling in when Gordon's gone. But that would be a good Muser lineup for me. And would love to hear Craig on PM drive, when I can hear a bigger chunk of the show most days.
Ditto with a Jake and Dan show.
But I think those scenarios are not likely. One show was blown up by Mike's departure. I do not see the CTO blowing up another historically successful show.
Unless . . . contract time is coming up for the likes of Craig, and he has the leverage of his own retirement. But wait -- didn't the Musers all just re-up a month or so back?
So my money is on Jake to The Hardline. Transforms a stale show with a jolt of energy that "the kids" who, we hear, are deserting The Ticket, find lacking in the aging hosts.
The real controversy Cat will have to deal with is: Who will replace Jake as BaD producer? My money would be on either Justin Montemayor or David Mino. I'm a fan of Justin's "radio sound" and attitude, but David has sharpened up his act on Work in Progress. There are some other JV guys, Ticker and board op guys, who will probably toss their chapeaux in the ring.
Good luck to all. The Ticket is in for a wild social media ride. Stay tuned to My Ticket Confession, Your Source for Quality Ticket Journalism.
No disrespect: Kobe Bryant, RIP. |
So Jake in Miami, but not on BAD Radio. hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWell yes...Corby isn't going to host a show solo for 3.5 hours...
ReplyDeleteTrue, but when Jake was +1 last week, he still produced BAD and did the 1:30 news
ReplyDeleteCorby just introduced Jake as experiencing "his maiden voyage at the Super Bowl," which may be taken in a couple of different ways.
ReplyDeleteDuring the segment about his football uni bet, Dan said earlier today that Jake would be sitting in with THL all week. That to me at least doesn't sound like permanent membership. I don't think he'd have even mentioned it if Jake was making the move. There's no way Cat or any other CTO would've allowed for any utterance that might tip their hand. I'm starting to think that last Confessor's confession re: Junior and Jake might not be so crazy after all. Because I also can't believe they'd have Jake pictured with the Varstity of the website if he wasn't about to be involved. Something's up, for sure.
ReplyDeletethe hosts know that we all are hoping to hear an announcement about Mike's replacement, so they are saying all kinds of stuff to tease us. I've heard it from Junior, Corby, Donovan, and others. So if they're willing to joke about it, I'd say that anything that sounds like a hint is probably them danging the yarn in front of us kittens.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but why would they pair Jake with Corby all week and not go ahead and kick off Superbowl week with potentially bang by announcing him as Mike's replacement? It doesn't make sense to me, unless that's not what's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the case, I'm champing at the bit.
As I said pointed in an earlier posting, Jake is definitely "Tier 1" if he's doing "All Pro Foundation Repair" ads. They pay top dollar for the main guys. Now, where will Jake land? I'm not sure. Listening to Junior this morning he seems like he's going to stay a Muser (at least from the comments he made). I don't think breaking up a team like George, Junior, and Gordon is a great idea unless Junior is just wanting a change due to his marriage. I imagine his schedule is pretty difficult to deal with on a week day basis as he has to go to sleep early and get up early. It might mean he's missing quality time with his new bride, so I get that he might want a change.
ReplyDeleteAs to the rest, I'm just worn out with the conjecture. Jake is obviously going somewhere, so I'd guess "The Hardline" as it's the only show that is missing a host. As to who replaces him on BaD, it will probably be Mino, but Justin would be fine, too.
Jake tweeted something that indicates that perhaps Corby got banned/lost credentials because of his wireless interview. But the tweet (and subsequent replies) are kind of cryptic.Anyone have the scoop on this?
ReplyDeleteThe Ticket itself tweeted "someone got in big trouble at media day again" with a picture of a crestfallen Corby. Killer tweeted: "Someone has a warrant out for him by the NFL police" with a similar snap.
ReplyDelete“Two credentialed “reporters” were ousted from the floor after crossing the line with their off-color questioning, according to one team official. One of the banished men asked a question involving profanity; the other one referenced drugs.”
ReplyDeletehttps://theathletic.com/1566454/2020/01/28/media-night-mood-49ers-tight-end-george-kittle-explains-his-greatest-prank-patrick-mahomes-salutes-kobe-bryant/
Jake added to any show as on air host will be an immediate punch out for me. He's got nothing. He's nothing more than a Cowherd or Jim Rome starter kit.
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll have to go someplace else for my sports talk from 3-7 if this does happen.
Happy for The Old Grey Wolf but sad for what 3-7 may become.
I'm right there with a few of the commenters from this and the previous thread. Like Euronymous, I too am kinda worn out with it all. Just make a move and announce it already. I'm also wondering, like some others, if the obvious choice (Jake) is going to take Mike's place. That photo on The Ticket site is somewhat mysterious. On one hand, it would seem Jake being a part of the Varsity group photo is tantamount to a not so hidden Easter Egg. On the other, the photo is a group photo of the Hosts who will be at the Superbowl. That is Jake's role for the week. Sirois is still producing\hosting with Donnie and an at-home Norm (man, that's such a weird situation-not just for this week but pretty much at all times since late last year-what is the station and Norm thinking?) so it makes sense that Sirois wasn't in the photo. In short, the enigmatic photo doesn't overtly tell us anything other than for certain Jake is in a host only role for Superbowl week. So who bleepin' knows the who(s) and when the change will take place. Like I said at the top, echoing Euronymous, I'm getting to the point where I'm losing interest. That's not good, and that's the thrust of my comment.
ReplyDeleteEither The Ticket knows what it's going to do or it doesn't or it has an idea but can't quite come to a decision. Whichever it is, coming up on a month since Mike's departure, it is IMHO total and utter bulsh and even arrogant.
I say this because it has become tiresome to me and every P1 I know. It's begun to have taken on the air of Mike's infamous quip during the post Greggo plus one days: "We owe you [P1s] nothing" in reference to P1 inquiries about Greggo's abrupt firing and where the show was heading. I understand at that time there was a plethora of legal issues to contend with that prevented anyone from discussing the situation. This time that is not the case, on any level. If it is Jake, just say it. What is the point of dragging it out? He's cohosting THL this entire bleepin' week! If he's it, say it! What could possibly preclude them not making the announcement if Jake is the choice? Do they think dragging it out will boost ratings-ooh, they'll keep tuning in every day to see if an announcement is made? If so, how misguided. It's not working. In fact, it's rather annoying. However, if Cumulus has no clue or is unable to come to a decision, well that's just pure arrogance and stupidity. "Ah, we'll figure it out when we figure it out. Meanwhile, the P1s will eat up whatever we do because we're The Ticket."
Make a decision, Cat. You've now past peak interest and give a shit. Now you stand to lose listeners. And from the past half year of ratings books, you can't afford that loss.
Oh great! A travel story from Corby where he exaggerates their restaurant experience to make it sound more interesting than it actually was. He's very talented that way, but unfortunately, it's his ONLY talent!
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't a popular opinion, but I think Jake and Corby together will become very annoying, hard on the ears, and finally, unlistenable in short order. Jake is super talented and merits a host spot. This pairing is not the right fit for him. I see indicators that portend this. I also firmly believe that once the Superbowl week, the shock of Mike leaving, and the Kobe news cycle fade and everything is back to what will be the new Post Mike norm, this duo will soon get under more listeners' skin than not. The '20 election is nigh upon us. That alone might drive this thing into the ditch....from which it'll never recover.
ReplyDeleteJake needs to be paired with Donnie. As the antepenultimate commenter said, what's going on with Norm and his role/absences/contribution is plain getting weird. Move Jake in and respectfully find an emeritus role/graceful exit for Norm. As to Mike's replacement, either go outside the station or just give it to Corby solo and have Danny and the crew play a larger on air role. Corby can easily be on his own.
I can easily see Corby sporting a Jack Boles Valet jacket as employment!
ReplyDeleteAnnouncement of Mike's replacement would make a nice centerpiece for Ticketstock.
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with 5:30, but I think Jake/Corby has done well so far. I do think they need something to temper things because both are absolutely capable of getting wound up in a way that will result in one or both alienating a huge chunk of the audience.
ReplyDeleteAnd in other news, Ferrall is no longer with CBS and no longer on The Ticket. Shot n a beer, puke.
ReplyDeleteQuick question: I heard the replay of the interview that got Corby bounced on The Hardline yesterday, but had to leave the car before he said what it was that triggered the lifting of his credential. Was it the "angel dust" question?
ReplyDeleteSo long Ferrall. You will not be missed. What a tool that guy is.
ReplyDeleteJust another case of Corby trying to be funny and falling on his face.
ReplyDeletePlainsman, yes it was the "angel dust" question.
ReplyDeleteI have it on excellent authority that the Meador Auto commercials continue to be bad.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to hear Grubes. What was the announcement? Please tell me he's coming back to produce BaD!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleterewind the sportsday app and you can hear it
ReplyDeleteThe announcement was that they're showing a movie at Alamo that Grubes likes. I think it was Stepbrothers.
ReplyDeleteI still get Grubes and Gribble mixed up.
Hardline today is BOR..OR...OR...OR...RING!!!

ReplyDeleteI do wonder if Mike shows up at Ticket Stock and announces his successor? I can envision the Time Wasters playing "Keep on Rockin' with The Hardline" as Mike makes his grand entrance. The crowd's going wild, Mike finally gets them to quiet down with a patented "heeeya, heeeya!", and then he tells them how much he loves The Ticket and especially the P1s. After that roar of applause and huzzahs subside, Mike then calls to the stage his successor. Who that'll be, at this point I haven't a clue. But what a cool and memorable way to usher in the new era.
ReplyDeleteIt will be announced Monday

ReplyDelete@2:26 Whoa, dude, lighten up on The Plainsman. He seems like a good dude and has supplied us this blog/forum. Sorry you have a beef with Surly, but as a fellow UT alum, I can say we're not ALL bad.
ReplyDelete@David Dodenhoff - you made me spit water all over my computer screen! LOL! Charlie what's is face is a beating.
Keep up the good work, Plainsman. Don't let 'em beat ya down.
Surly, fka Shaggy, is one of our more grumpy observers and sometimes speaks to other Confessors more sharply than I would like and I've had to bounce him once or twice, but generally he doesn't cross the invisible civility line. Goes right up to it, but, as you know, I have a soft spot for Confessors who have been with us for a long time.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about his website. Yeah, I wish he weren't so harsh, but he's contributed usefully from time to time. Besides, if I banned him, nothing would prevent him (or anyone else) from re-entering under another ID.
226, your two blasts did cross that line. 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . .
As of this afternoon, a source I regard as fairly reliable tells me there is no plan to make any Ticket personnel announcement on Monday, nor has any other date been set for an announcement.
ReplyDeleteThe source did not disclose whether a final decision had been made, although another pretty good source says that it has been decided. The source did not know why it was not being announced.
If that changes over the weekend, I'll look pretty silly, but that's the latest I have.
Thanks for the info, Pman. I'm beginning to come around on the idea that this is going to be a jaw dropper. I do recall that toward the end of the first day back from Dry Dock, that is, AM (After Mike), both Corby and Danny said the final configuration will go online in the near future and that when it does we will absolutely know it. They both said it with one of those chuckles that says "hod onto your butts." So I'm starting to get my head around a whopper of a move. Maybe that enigmatic comment here and on the reddit page about Junes isn't so far fetched after all. Like several have said already, if it's Jake then why are they dragging it out? That makes zero sense. None whatsoever. Hey man, fill in three times and go to the Super Bowl and cohost, hell, RUN The Hardline (because he's more than ably captained many segments, entire stretches of the show) for a week. But let's not go ahead and announce you got the job. Sorry, that's plain silly. I would've bet the farm on Jake, but now I wouldn't lay a dime. He's not it.
ReplyDeleteJake is getting promoted one way or another. Do you really think he wouldn't have quit if he was told he was staying producer on BaD? If not now then when would they promote him? Jake will be a main host whether he joins Donny and Norm steps aside or he joins The Hardline
ReplyDeleteI really, REALLY hope it's not the Junes move. But if it is, I'll give the new morning show a try anyway.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe I should look at it like this: I may get a chunk of my morning back and not be tied to my earbuds at my desk until 10ish
@8:19 Man, I just cannot see breaking up a three time nominated Marconi team in The Musers (or is it more?), but if Miller is forcing the move, then whaddya gonna do? But, I'm with you, I HOPE it's not the case. Also with you that if it IS, BaD Radio might be the only saving grace of The Ticket for me. No, Junior in morning drive time might be the end of that show for me. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteJust to be clear, I wasn't claiming that Junes is taking Mike's spot. What I am claiming is that I no longer think Jake is getting that spot. And I base my claim on the fact that Jake has plus 1'd three times and has now cohosted the entire Super Bowl week. Yet he has not been named the permanent replacement. There are no legal reasons for this, a la Greggo. There is no (at least no longer) any sort of ratings getting/listener grabbing reasons. I also toss in what was said and the manner in which it was said by Corby and Danny at the end of the first AM show. Adding that all together, I've come to the conclusion that not only is it not Jake, but also that whatever the move is, it's going to be significant. The only reason I tossed out the Junes scenario was because that had been put out there-not because I think that's what's going down. But I do believe that something along those lines might be heading our way. And because I believe that's the case, I have to admit that the Junes move isn't so far fetched after all. The only good counter to the above that I've read (so far, at least) is that they're waiting for Ticketstock to make the announcement. That does make sense. But even there it's inane to have someone cohost 3 times, go to the "in-club only invite" Super Bowl week trip and cohost that entire week and be treated and very much act like a Varsity member, and, yet, not make the announcement. As I implied, this narrative lost its cache a week or so ago. Any Jake announcement by this time is anticlimatic, at best. So, putting all that together, again, I say it's not Jake. And if it's not Jake, then I contend it's going to be a (the) shocker.
ReplyDeleteAs regards Jake: The guy is an obvious talent with, barring doing something stupid, a very bright future. IMHO he absolutely merits a spot on the Varsity squad, and a move ought to be done post haste to make it happen. But the idea that he has the leverage to force a move, threatening to leave or anything like that does not comport with reality. The presuppositions behind such a claim are numerous and quite frankly pretty much non-existent in the media industry. Especially for someone with zero skins on the wall-no matter how talented he might be (and he is).

It could be awhile before an announcement is made. As far as I know, there is no fixed time set for that.
ReplyDeleteI wonder . . . I wonder if Cat is waiting for the next ratings book to come out. There is considerable uncertainty in the Dallas radio community over the accuracy of Nielsen's procedures in recent months, and not just because of the improvement in The FAN's numbers. If the trend continues and looks "real" rather than as an artifact of some screwup by Nielsen -- pure guess here -- Cat might be more tempted to make a more radical change than just filling Mike's slot.
This would argue for the announcement not being made for awhile.
I caught an interesting moment on The Hardline a week or so ago. Jake was +1. Corby threw out a general question, and Danny and Jake responded simultaneously.
ReplyDeleteDanny said, "Sorry."
In the recent past, of course, that question would have been directed to Danny so his response would be expected, even if Mike were there (because Mike had become unresponsive). But with Jake there as a real co-host, Corby more than likely was directing the question to him as a full (and not nonresponsive) co-host.
No big deal, the moment passed instantly, but I thought it was just the eensiest bit telling.
Anon 12:38
ReplyDeleteOutstanding points although I dont agree that a Jake announcement at this point would be "anticlamtic" as you said. I dont think Jake has anything to do with long term weather trends. :)
Yeah, typing with one finger on a digital/touch keyboard on a tablet, well, typos and whatnot will occasionally occur. OK, will often occur! But thanks for the props.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletePersonal opinion: Anyone that thinks it makes themselves look smarter by pointing out an obvious typo is kind of douchetastic. Kinda like Corby, in fact. I think we all know what is trying to be conveyed. Pointing out little errors seems petty to me. Not really directed at 12:38, but I have had certain other individuals *cough cough* take the opportunity to correct me. It's not cool, man.
ReplyDeleteEuro, I should really put that in the Rules of the Confessional.
ReplyDeleteHere are the Rules of the Confessional, first published in 2015.
ReplyDeleteI may update and repost.

Scattershooting while thinking....
ReplyDeleteWhile the PC haters have been around, it's been interesting to see from afar how barstool sports this week had a $450MM valuation.
Certainly, the ticket has been around far longer than them but wow. If only they had thought to go independent. I certainly tune in to the uncensored barstool channel on Siriusxm.
Why is Work in Progress playing Sonny and Cher's "I Got You, Babe" for return music for each segment? Must have missed something on the news.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie Groundhog Day every day when the clock radio comes on it is playing "I Got You Babe"
ReplyDeleteThanks, 516. Finally figured it out when I saw the Bill Murray Jeep ad. Oddly, never saw the flick.
ReplyDeleteSo, uh, Jake is...............producing BaD today. He even wound down the opening with the Radigan "I was living the dream but now I'm back" clip. I'm supposed to believe that Jake's first day as the official HL cohost starts off with producing BaD? That and Craig was still cohosting DnM this morning. On the whole, it's been nearly a month long barrage of "if you don't think it's Jake, you're a____fill in the epithet__".
ReplyDeleteI think So Anonymous is by far the most correct: "Everything's possible."
No sooner than Ticketstock.
ReplyDeleteShakira is hot!
ReplyDeleteI'm done.
Whoa, I thought Surly said today was the day? But it isn't. Shocked! Shocked!
ReplyDeleteI was just going by what Corby said originally. This is idiotic.
ReplyDeleteHe never said that. Never. Stop making things up.
ReplyDeleteShakira's hip rotation and rhythmic pelvic thrusts are so mesmerizing that you enter a state of euphoria when watching the talented Colombian beauty.
ReplyDeleteHer red highlighted hair was a nice touch, dont you think Plainsman?

ReplyDeleteBen and Skin going to the Eagle 2-5. It's on.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the Eagle? All sports?
ReplyDeleteGeorge was a whip today between his gushing of mahomes and his anti super bowl halftime show.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe "Eagle" is 97.5 (or was). It used to be a rock station but I believe has become more talk radio than anything else. I haven't listened to it in years, but at one time it had Nikki Sixx's morning show on it and, I think, Russ Martin as well. Quite honestly, I have no idea what their format is anymore.
ReplyDelete97.1. As of yesterday, at least, it was/is a rock station that plays some classic rock like ACDC, but mostly stuff from the 90s, forward. Including whatever the latest crap that passes for hard rock and the lighter side of metal. And inexplicably from 3ish-6ish they air TRMS. Next week, RMS will be replaced by BnS, but beginning and ending earlier in the day. What this means for KEGL's format, I've no idea. The station has been a mess for two decades now. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteI should add that KEGL'S two decades long downward spiral goes hand in glove with the demise of hard rock (and rock in general).
ReplyDeleteMark this: We are today, and have been for the last month, listening to The Hardline. The Plus Ones were pseudo-tryouts, right along the lines of what happened when Hee Hoo lost his mind and was finally and rightfully 86'ed. Indeed, this has played out exactly like it did back in '07 (goshamighty we're coming up on 13 years this October, I believe, since that crazy time!).
ReplyDeleteThe Hardline moving is Corby and Danny. There will be a game of musical chairs played out amongst the JV.--there's a reason why Mr. Medellin keeps popping up everywhere. . . . . .
The idea that they're waiting to a time of their choosing (Ticketstock) to announce Jake as the new member is downright preposterous. Superbowl week, either the Monday or Friday, was the ideal time. That has come and gone. You don't move someone into a position, a life changing career move, like that in such a way: "You've got the job! Now go back to your old one for a few weeks so we can make a splash announcement; an announcement that every consumer of our product already knows about and has for weeks now." Preposterous. I don't say that in judgment of Jake as a person or his ability. He seems like a good dude and his ability goes without saying, I believe.
So get your head right with ball, P1s, because what your'e hearing right now is The Hardline.
If that’s the case I’m out, the current hardline with Danny and Corby is a dumpster fire. Think they are taking their listeners for granted by stringing us along and not making any announcement.
Delete@anon 4:41 pm...I've been listening sporadically lately, and personally, I find Corby with Jake...very dull. I'm listening today, and if Corby stays the beat, it HAS to be with Danny. But you're very wrong; we're not listening to The Hardline...and haven't been for several years. Hee Hoo (like it or not) was the driving personality for the show. They still CONSTANTLY use Greggo drops to prop up the show. Even Mike's departure did didn't move the needle the way Greggo's did.
ReplyDeletePoint taken, slinky. The Hardline hasn't been "hard" in over a decade now.
ReplyDeleteEven in it's heyday the eagle 97.1 does have talk radio in it's DNA. It was this market's carrier for Howard Stern
ReplyDeleteI just hope Cat is reading the Ticket reddit page.
ReplyDeleteIf it's just Corby and Danny they will absolutely fail.
@Anonymous @) 10:35am - 97.1, yes. Thanks.
ReplyDeletePrincess is right. They were doing Sunday night talk shows in the early '80s. They were big into the Kennedy assassination, tin foil hat type conspiracy theories and a lot of Coast-to-Coast stuff. It was a fun listen back then.
ReplyDeleteRuss Martin got his talk show hist start Sunday night's on KEGL back in the 80s. He was originally a DJ. The show had this regular guest who claimed to be a psychic. Not only did callers have their fortunes read, but she would also read Russ's. Evidently he consulted her off air too. She supposedly predicted when and how his career would take off. He would talk about it on air. Got pretty weird towards the end, but suddenly he was hosting a daily show.
ReplyDeleteCorby tweeted an announcement coming soon. Is it THE announcement?
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/corbydavidson/status/1225122007437729800?s=21
Could be The Announcement or it could be some animal related charity event that he and Danny are heading up. Dingu has become quite the dog advocate since adopting his pup. If it is The Announcement, my guess is it's going to be Danny, himself, and Jake moving into Danny's role with Mino moving into Jakes'. If you haven't noticed, Cumulus has done a cost effective thing by making the producer of each show, sans the 3 hosted Musers into a 3rd host who also gets paid producer rather than on air talent money, benefits, etc. Neat trick. So Jake will move up the rung in his already ghost-cohost role.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I think will occur. I don't think it's too far fetched.
I dont agree 1:58. Jake has an assurance that he will be promoted or he wouldn't be there. Either to the Norm spot or the Mike spot. Danny has long had "cohost" title on his email signature block if you have ever corresponded with him. He is making more than 39k per year I can guarantee you.
ReplyDelete603, you seem to have quite the inside skinny on very insider info. Unfortunately, you've provided no evidence other than "because I say so." Not very convincing, I must say. As to Danny's cohost tag,I'm going to go out on a short limb and say that's supposed to be humorous. Either that or he's inadvertently let the cat out of the bag, which doesn't seem like a type of boneheaded mistake he'd commit.
ReplyDeleteOff topic question but I missed the final Intentional Grounding tonite. Is there anywhere online I can listen to a replay? Thx
ReplyDeleteI bet if you go to either Wilonsky's or Moore's Twitter page they'll have a link. If not now, then perhaps tomorrow. You could Tweet them and ask, as well.
ReplyDeleteMajor Station Announcement Monday 2/10 at 3:30pm CST
ReplyDeleteHold on to your butts!
ReplyDeleteGotta be it, right? At the end of BaD, last segment before WTDS and the beginning of the week...gotta be the Jake move. Last segment goodbyes, then slides over to THL to begin the work week and the next phase of his career and life. Am I wrong, guys?
ReplyDeleteJust so it isn't the rumored/conjectured Junes move.
ReplyDeleteAnd 3:30 is post-WTDS, but fits your theory otherwise.
lol, it's gonna be the reveal of the Top Ticket Moment of All Time
ReplyDelete"In the 26 year history of the Ticket, we've had some pretty big moments. (Insert Norm/Mozart e-brake and Dan v Lee Corso clips) Get ready for the Mother of All Moments. This Monday afternoon at 3;30"
ReplyDeleteI think Surly is right. I also think the comment saying odds are it's going to be Corby and Danny with JV movement is right. I also think that The Ticket is making some missteps with their handling of Mike's replacement. The teasing and let's call it what it is trolling of their listeners is not a good path to embark on.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it could still be the drivetime host news, but what a terrible way to promote it if so
ReplyDelete"If you think this major station announcement is about Ticketstock, then you would be WRONG. Listen this Monday afternoon at 3:30, to be on the RIGHT side of this news.
ReplyDeleteI meant to add because their audience is neither as large nor as loyal as it once was. Hubris, arrogance.
ReplyDeleteYeah, on the morning show those are usually the special event announcements. What special events does THL do?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's that dog fundraiser that Corby is part of? But I thought that was in the fall....
And if the announcement is that they'll announce it at Ticketstock I think heads will explode.
Could be a two fer. 3:20 they name Mike's leaving as the number one all time moment and 10 minutes later ring in the new era. I have a feeling it's still going to be called THL.
ReplyDeleteJust listened to Mike Rhyner on It's Just Banter. It was a good listen outside of the TC over-cuss. He cusses just for the sake of cussing. It's ridiculous and hard to listen to.
ReplyDelete"Hold on to your butts P1s! It's major station announcement time. Get by the channel or stream the stream this Monday afternoon at 3:30 during The Hardline. Don't say we didn't warn you."
ReplyDeleteIf Jake is made part of the HL I may have to bail completely. He's so terrible in every aspect outside of talking actual sports. Much like the guys at The Fan... they can't do what the Ticket guys do. Jake can't either.
ReplyDeleteDid all ya all listen to the major station announcement tease?
ReplyDeleteIt was some top Gordo moments.
Prediction: Gordon joins the new Hardline (Corby + Davy + Gordo) + Danny producing and Jake joins the Musers.
They need to inject some fresh blood or shake up the soda can so to speak. Do that either from shuffling lineups or bringing in someone new. They are slowly bleeding to death. Here's what this is important if you are a P-1. You don't want the station to continue to decline in the ratings. If that happens they will have to trim salary's which could mean syndication or less contributors. The Yuk Monkey's and producers will be the first to go.
ReplyDeletebarely one baseball immortal shall make oral vapor imagery, never going toward orlando through heated earth. his aspect ratio doesn't largely identify ninety emus. although the landlord eagerly accepts shallots theoretically. another theater textbook has identified such magic. optimistic mice exhibit narrow teeth.
ReplyDeleteNow that would be a bombshell
ReplyDeleteCurious Danny quote from WTDS, after Bob jokes about not knowing Pedro Alvarez was a baseball player:
ReplyDelete“Better get your baseball game together, Bob”
Major station announcements always under deliver.
ReplyDeleteHow was Corby presented as the permanent replacement for Greggo? That's how it will come down.
Not this one. Think what you fucking want, but what's going online Monday will fucking melt minds. Get ready. You have. No. Idea.
ReplyDeleteSo much so that this will either make The Ticket what it once was or it will hasten its demise. I. Am. Fucking. Not. Kidding.
MAJOR. MAJOR. MAJOR. SEISMIC. SHIFT. DEF CON GOOGLE.
ReplyDeleteTHIS. IS. NOT. A. TEST.
THE TICKET AS WE'VE KNOWN IT IS ABOUT TO REBOOT.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
PROCEED ACCORDINGLY.
OUT.
Pretty crazy if true. I never really considered Mike leaving to have that kind of seismic impact. Makes sense if the ratings are really starting to trend downward. Mike had certainly given up somewhere within the last 24 months.
DeleteI don't like the sound of this. I'm gonna miss my little ticket.
ReplyDeleteWhat are looking at here exactly? A reboot of what? The format? The station has been nominated for, like, three Marconi's. How on earth is a total redo necessary or beneficial?
ReplyDeletegoing to go WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY out on a limb and say the dudes posting 3 min apart at 230 AM are either the same person or trolling.
ReplyDeleteIf the comments are even somewhat accurate, which I have my doubts, my guess is The Hardline is rebooting. Perhaps a new name and maybe even a piece or two on the host and JV chessboard will be moved. If so, that'll rock our P1 world, for a bit. Thing is, whatever happens, we'll get used to it in short order. Look, if we're honest with ourselves, how many of us have already moved on from Mike? And in a couple of months, if not sooner, for the most part it'll be as if Mike never existed.
ReplyDeleteMajor station announcements always under deliver.
ReplyDeleteDon't take the cheese.
all has been revealed
ReplyDeleteSidd Finch should be in the Hall of Fame
ReplyDeleteJim Rome is joining the Hardline and Dan Patrick is taking Norm's place teaming up with Donnie.
ReplyDeleteI heard L4G is Wes Coke
ReplyDeleteThey're bringing Greggo back to the HL
