Unconfirmed on This Site: Sean Bass

A late comment to the last string reports that Sean Bass was involved in a serious automobile accident.  I have been able to get no additional information on this and have no desire to spread erroneous or alarmist information.  I post this merely because in the past people have come to this site for information.

Google Blogger is having a serious meltdown and it is almost impossible for me to operate with any convenience.  Apologies all around.  I would ask that comments be kept respectful and that new information either be reliably sourced or with a link.

Whatever the situation, MTC wishes Sean Bass the very best, and our thoughts are with him and his loved ones.

[CORRECTION:  Since this was posted, I received informal but reliable confirmation that this story is generally accurate, although I have no additional details as of 8:30 AM Monday.]

  1. Here is the comments from the prior post, with a link:

A poster on Shaggybevo relays that the SeaBass was in a bad car wreck on Friday night. His twitter has been silent since 558pm Friday evening. I find it hard to believe Mr. Diamond Talk would've been able to stay tweet quiet this weekend considering that crazy Yanks/A's game on Saturday, not to mention the good guys' games as well. I'm not seeing anything on Grubes' (I know they aren't roommates anymore) or Newbury's feeds that something happened.

  2. I am not a Twitter expert, but it also appears that TweetGrubes has not posted since September 21. I have made a very curosy search of Twitter and I see no reference to it. I am tempted to take this post down but will leave it up at least until morning to see if anyone has any additional information.

This, of course, is one of the dangers of the Internet, in that private and even hurtful wrong information gets instant and widespread exposure. I recognize I'm contributing to it.

So I urge all readers to take this for what it's worth, which is unconfirmed and sole-sourced from a UT fan site.

    Let's hope for the best.

  3. If this is the case, prayers to Sean Bass and friends and family affected. He's a good dude.

  4. That should read, prayers for and not to.

  5. I wouldn't have posted this, based solely on what you heard from a message board on another website. Really irresponsible.

  6. Seems unlikely that it would be a serious, life-threatening situation considering Sturm, Dick Hicks, KT, Sirois, Jake Z, etc., have been tweeting about silly stuff all day today.
Can't see them acting normal on twitter if seabass was really in serious condition.

  7. I had late confirmation that the story in its broad outlines is correct, including the fatality. Again, our good thoughts, and condolences, go out to all.

I have no other information, including the extent of Sean's injuries. However, it appears that he is not presently in danger.

1033, you may be right and I had second and third thoughts. But when I saw that Michael Gruber had not tweeted, the cirumstantial evidence that something serious was afoot became pretty compelling. I regarded my second source as reliable.

With respect to The Ticket/Tweeters not commenting, I will remind everyone that thanks to federal law (HIPAA), hospitals are not as free as they once were to give out information, and perhaps The Ticket is observing the same protocols. I have the station on now, and nothing yet. I did not hear all of the 5:30 Ticker.

  8. There is no reason to post details. For the reason alone to put to rest that this story is made up in any way let me say that there was an accident. Sean is ok. There was, indeed, a fatality involved.

Please keep Sean, his friends and family, and the friends and family of those directly affected, in your thoughts.

  9. A reader brings this news story to our attention:

  10. Norm and Bob are talking about it now.

  11. As Anon indicated, Norm and Bob confirmed the details from the blog post. It was apparently a drunk driver that hit Sean's car head-on. Terrible, terrible news.

  12. Absolutely awful, tragic news. I'm glad SeaBass is physically OK. You come to realize how much these, in reality, strangers have come to be a part of your family when something like this happens. When I heard Norm and BaD discussing it (the first I'd heard of it), I felt as if someone had just kicked me in the stomach. As if it happened to an immediate family member or close friend. I'll bet I'm not the only one that feels this way or had the same reaction.

  13. yes, duckandcover I felt the same way. Sea Bass is a strong presence on the Ticket and he's one of my faves. I have no idea how you ever get over something like that. Devastating.

  14. I'm hoping DP from The Unofficial Ticket Blog will read this and answer my question, but maybe someone who visits this site might know. I looked on his site and didn't see contact info.

So, I know you can find almost anything Ticket audio related on the UnTicket, but is it possible to save the audio to my PC?

  15. Gordo retweeted this URL a couple of weeks ago that has revitalized the TuneIn app:
    http://4713.live.streamtheworld.com/KTCKAM.mp3

I would imagine that you could plug that in to some kind of PC application that could record the audio to your computer similarly to how TuneIn records audio to the phone.

  16. Really liking Intentional Grounding. It's like Ticket for adults or something. Great interview with the guy who authored the book on the Dallas Texans and Cowboys.

  17. Maybe out of respect for SeaBass, the young woman who was tragically killed, and their friends and families...you might want to post up something else so that other comments can be made.
