Ask, and Your Plainsman Shall Deliver Sometimes

The Confessor World was rent asunder in the last thread by competing opinions on the narrator on some ads appearing in The Ticket stream, and, I suppose, on the air, although I don't have a list for you.  Confessor Boo! did not much care for it, another found it fetching.  I have since heard from others who very much like the sound of this woman's voice.

AMENDMENT 5-1-16:  At least one of the ads in question is for The Local Ticket with DJ Mark music show.

The talent community must know who's doing what -- and have the occasional cup of coffee at My Ticket Confession -- because it wasn't long before I heard from someone who gave some indication of knowing what he was talking about, and our voice actress was identified.

Her name is J.J. Jurgens.

She has a Masters in Journalism/Sports Broadcasting from the University of Nebraska and played on the Cornhuskers women's basketball team.

She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Promotional Announcement.  No, really.

Her favorite drink is Widmer Hefeweizen

She played professional football for the L.A. Amazons.  Wide receiver and corner.

[Close as I could come.  LA Amazons didn't leave an extensive photographic footprint on the Internets.  This is from "Tarzan and the Amazons" with Johnny Weissmuller and Brenda Joyce.]

So there you have it.  More at her website.  Your Plainsman has a special fondness for her birthplace of Omaha, Nebraska, and My Ticket Confession wishes her the best.

  1. Uh yah, this is a weird post, Plainsman

  2. Do you think we could get a crowdfunding going to bring Shon Gables to the Campout to wake up Corby? She could probably use the gig.

  3. Agreed 8:39; this post is weird. We have had the April Fools Open and the NFL draft and Campound is quickly coming up and these posts recently haven't reflected anything happening at our Little Ticket! Where is the recap and posts reflecting the station antics? The golf tournament was the funniest thing on the radio since before Greggo left!

  5. Slight correction Pman...I don't mind the lady voice over, in fact she's pretty good...I was talking about a brake commercial where they literally play a long drawn out creaky brake sound.

I'm sorry for all the confusion, I though it was your birthday.

  6. It was me that finds her voice annoying. I guess I'm the only one...oh well. On a positive note, I'm looking forward to the campound coming up this week.

  7. Thanks P-man! Not the 5'2" blonde hair blue-eyed gal in my mind but not bad.

  8. You're not the only one, debased. I've found her Ticket promos very annoying. Oddly enough, I listened to some of the work on her website and it was a lot better. She has some sort of weird affectation in her Ticket promos.

  9. Maybe it's just me, but if I was being payed silly money to talk about local sports teams on the radio I would have known by the time my shift started at 3:00pm that Josh Hamilton had been pulled from his rehab assignment the day before.

  10. Anon 4:50 - I thought the same thing. Just another "un-preparedness" (there's no way that's a word) with our little hosts.

Apologies in advance for the caps.

  11. I should be doing a lot of stuff right now but am stuck to my laptop until this is over. Hopefully the unticket is getting jubjam as well.

  13. Not that I don't personally love the pics of all the reds and sundry vixens, and not that any are pornographic, but for Pete's Sake, Pman, I can no longer look at MTC while at work. Anyone who might happen to glance over and see a post (specially a female) and its attendant photos....well, you can imagine that it's not a positive thing.

If you feel the need to always post up a red, great, but do they all have to be so large and up front and center? Used to not be that a way.

It'd be nice to be able to shop at MTC at work again.

  14. @Anon at 4:50 PM,
Preparedness of THL was entirely not in effect when Corby and Danny tried to say that Leicester City won the Premier League title yesterday despite telling the listeners that the team was relegated last season, then told us they finished 17th last season, when in reality, they finished 14th.

  15. You can't be serious anon 11:50. Where the hell do you work?

  16. Different Anon here. I can believe it.

  17. 1:12--Another different Anon here and I definitely agree with 2:38!

  18. Yes, 112, I'm serious. I work in an environment, like most professional environments, where HR and all that that entails is not to be taken lightly. It's a brave New world out there, sir or madam.

  19. has anyone else noticed several tobacco stocks jumps 5% every time Ray Manzieri tells us about the awesomeness of Statewide Remodeling? He sounds like one of the NASCAR fan/campers Gordo loves to harass at various times of the year.

  20. Is Cat or someone else in management reading this? Why are you guys running extra ads during the breaks in the Stars games? You're coming back to a game in progress. Unacceptable in a big time market!
