A close second to Jeff Catlin as My Leader.

  3. So Cat, the guy who puts his own ego in front of the betterment of the station, is your leader?

    1. The station has and continues to kill under his management. What fucking planet do you live on?

That, and stop posing as others. You fucking creep.

    2. You could put a monkey in his position and it wouldn’t make a difference.

    3. oh, please "TC", do give examples of this alleged Catlin Ego Front. we'll wait.

    4. Not mentioning Jake or Dan's name at Ticketstock roundtables and scrubbing their drops from the station.

Not hiring Justin as a full time host

Not letting shows pick their own producers

    5. First off, moron, both Dan and Jake were mentioned on-air last week. Second, THEY NO LONGER WORK AT THE STATION. THEY QUIT. THEY QUIT IN A DISINGENUOUS FASHION THEN, ALONG WITH THEIR "LEGAL DREAM TEAM", ATTEMPTED TO MAKE CUMULUS THE FACE OF A LANDMARK LABOR CASE. AFTER ALL THAT, AND GETTING EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED, THEY PROCEEDED TO 1. CONSTANTLY TAKE DIRECT AND SIDEWAYS SHOTS AT THE TICKET, CAT, AND CUMULUS; AND 2. HAD AND CONTINUE TO HAVE ON GUESTS (INCLUDING THEIR LAWYERS) WHO TAKE DIRECT AND SIDEWAYS SHOTS AT THE TICKET, CAT, AND CUMULUS. ONE FORMER TICKET EMPLOYEE WHO ALSO QUIT IN A DISINGENUOUS FASHION, DANNY, EVEN PENNED AND PERFORMED A SONG DENIGRATING CAT. Does any of this compute with you, sport? I can guarantee you that Cat did not ban any mention of Dan and Jake at Ticketstock. Why would an employer celebrate former employees who quit and went on to do what they did? Answer: THEY WOULDN'T. NO EMPLOYER WOULD. I'll ask again. How old are you?

    6. thank you "TC" for your honest responses.
that's what the rest of us needed to know.

    7. If that’s really TC, explains a lot about him, and even more of some folks complete misunderstanding of the correct way to run a radio station.
When Greggo left there was a threatened lawsuit over NIL before NIK was a thing. They pulled all those drops until resolution was imminent. From what I’ve been told none of the H z audio was purged, it’s just fallen out of favor. Thsts what happens when you quit.
How does not hiring Monty as a full time host elevate cats ego over the good of the station? Did cats ego get hired ?
And good programming theory tells you don’t want the same personality types on the same show. If your hosts are wildly and wacky, you probably be an OCD meat freak to balance it out and keep things under control.
But just think how huge a blow TCs pathetic overblown ego it must have been to not get the THZ producer gig.

  5. Hard to imagine someone liking Jeff Catlin and thinking the Sean Bass/Mino show is actually good, but the owner of this site does. For those with any appreciation of the history of The Ticket, Bruce Gilbert is the one who should be your leader. Not the guy responsible for Ladies Be Trippin, charging for Ticketstock, and running off anyone with a hint of talent under 40.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Sweet Spot numbers are commensurate with THZ numbers. I know that's a difficult thing for your myopic purview to handle. Who did Cat run off under 40? Sirois? Danny? Dan? All were over 40 (Danny over 50). Julie. Oh yeah, that's some talent. Bullsh. Jake? Jake was not run off by anyone. He got his dream job then fought for and got the compensation he felt he deserved. And when it came time to reup and make more money, he and his bae decided to bolt. Did so in a disengenuous manner to boot.

    2. You guys treat a radio station like a 5 year old treats his mommy. Like she can do no wrong and is perfect. You may find it impossible to believe, but I think The Ticket is a shell of its former self *and* the The Dumb Zone isn't great either.

      Delete
    3. Why would you think that "we" find it impossible to believe that you feel TT is a former shell of itself? Utter incoherence. And what an ego! Cluster B, this one. Chief, you're entitled to your subjective opinion. Me, I'll go by the hard data that says TT is as strong as ever. I believe in science, love is love, love wins.......

    4. When this under 50/40 talent left did they take radio jobs? They I’m sure if they were talented , really talented, they got great ratings. Can someone point me to their top ratings?

    1. Sean isn't my cup of tea, but he's not riding Jake's coattail. Sean is a perfect example of staying the course, hanging around long enough to get your shot. But I do agree with your last statement. TSS and TDZ are pretty much a toss up. By the way, TDZ isn't quite hemerrohaging subs, but its numbers have been and continue to slide. Peak DZ has already happened.

    4. Yo, Orlie. 2021 called. It wants its approach to "winning the internet" back. Why don't you do the leg work and tell us the sub #s? Exactly. You're either lazy or you know but are hoping they aren't stated because it hurts your butt. Take that back you're both.

    5. Why would I do the leg work? That’s not how this works. A claim was made, and it cannot be backed up. I’ll wait.

    6. OP here. The data comes at a price. The price of a sub. A price I pay monthly. Therefore, I'm not giving it out. So either you're a sub and have access to it and don't want to engage honestly, or you want something for free and-or are an asshat. So go shove it up your backside. FWIW, I agree with Oriel. Your sad sack attempt is just that. Sad.

    1. That was a little taste of how sports talk radio used to be. It was awesome. As a listener you felt so much more connected with the host and station. It's also the way The Ticket was in its formative years. Perhaps its best years. Yes I know the received wisdome says taking callers turns off listeners. Unless you're a bits, more bits, all I want is bits listener, it doesn't. Taking callers and actually talking sports in a "my eyeballs and my inside sources tell me this" manner along with excellent bits here and there is what made The Ticket the force it is. I miss those days. I feel sorry for those who never got to experience them. You truly felt like you were a part of the station and that the hosts were your buddies. It's why I understand on a certain level the sometimes fanaticism DumbZone listeners display. It's also why there are still ride or die Ticketheads around. Some show up in this space.

A happy New Year to everyone.

      Delete
    2. Counterpoint: 99.9% of callers have a deep, Felix-the-cat style bag of nothing, and they generally bring the show to a halt unless meticulously screened. And then when you get screened-to-the-point-of-scripted calls, you're kind of left wondering why the guys didn't just make a segment out of this to begin with. The only exception to this rule is Norm taking post game calls that are designed to set him off. That's always hilarious.

      Delete
    3. You’re the “enlightened” exception, not the rule.

  12. I really enjoyed the Normathon this year. The last few years I haven't really been able to listen to it due to work or family issues. It was nice to hear Norm again. There were some rough spots of course and Norm is showing his age, but heck he's 80. The Galloway, Hanson segments and the Travino segments were the standouts. All of those men are great storytellers and local treasures. It was a good day on the little Ticket.

-there will be a Big Shakeup in Ticket midday programming.
-OGW will attempt to stay relevant by dishing dirt on Ticket exit/ former cohosts. It will get to Bless His Heart cringe levels.
-the Boys of TDZ will no longer be the Boys of TDZ. (sorry, DFs)
-tc Ragonk fleming might possibly pick you up from the airport.
-besides the aforementioned shakeup, The Ticket will actually exceed numbers previously set - it'll be gangbusters.

I just don’t think 2 adult men in the particular stages they are in their lives, bet the farm without a safety net. One has young kids & one has serious medical issues. The other has kids in college. You can say they saved or the wife makes bank or whatever, but I believe it when I see it.

I've no dog in this hunt. Could care less if they succeed or fail, I'm good either way. In fact, I think Dan is a true talent. Regardless, this is the truth of the matter. It's happening.

Say, Eat it/He can't even read, here's a pro tip: They. Don't. Read. This. Any of it. Ever. They don't care about you. Period. Full Stop. Find another, more productive way to fill your free time. Perhaps supporting Atletico Madrid would suffice? Go on, you. Give 'er a try.

Capisce? Good. Glad I could clear that up for you!

    4. The history of prediction and "inside" information here is pretty poor. Once the ratings were out predicting the failure of the Freak wasn't really difficult. Even then I recall multiple times that someone posted absolute facts that the Freak was going to be off the air by the end of the week and were wrong. People predicted DZ failure at various time frames that have not happened so far. Before all of that people were predicting the imminent end of the Ticket on a regular basis. The new Hardline wouldn't make it to Christmas, Corby was going to be fired or moved to midday any day, A member of the Musers was leaving at summer / winter dry dock. None of those happened. Mike and Norm's exits were not predicted before they happened. The fact that something was going on with the HZ was pointed out fairly early but vehemently denied by people with "inside" information. "So Anonymous" was right often but I think we know why. As a wise man once said: "Always in motion the future is."

  21. Another boffo book for TT. Congrats to THL and to TI and TSS too. I thought Sean and Mino sounded great today, btw. I know that for many of you they're not your cup of tea. Sports is their forte, not bits. Truth be told, they're pretty awful at bits. But their sports talk is great, and I listen to TT for sports not bits. I have no idea what numbers TDZ or DLL are pulling in, but it seems like a lot of people still listen to T middays. I saw over on the reddit page where someone claimed the TI/TSS' very good numbers reflect how bad the competition is, and not the quality of the shows. That might be true to some degree. But if it is, then you have to apply that to both BaD and THZ' runs. Both went up against the exact same competition.

  22. With all the talk about midday ratings I was curious what it looked like if you actually compare before and after to the Musers ratings. Definitely a significant difference, HZ most always closely mirrored but a bit below (and sometimes even ahead). https://imgur.com/a/LC9Hyhg
