A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."
As you know, at the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting (“Woodstock for Capitalists”) Saturday Warren Buffett announced that he will be stepping down as one of the two co-chairmen of Berkshire Hathaway. He told the international throng who flocked to Omaha to hear the words of its Oracle, that his successor will be his current co-chair, Greg Abel.
I happened to be in Omaha this weekend, and I happen to own one (1) share of Berkshire A (inherited from my sainted mother). So the day before – Friday -- I went down to the exhibition hall where some of the Berkshire constituent companies had set up temporary shops where shareholders could buy their products for reduced prices and snagged myself a credential.
Thinking that something might be up for the shareholder meeting the next day, I tracked Greg down on the shopping floor to give him some tips. I pointed to the bags of swag Mrs. Plainsman and I had accumulated and told him that we’d thought he and Warren might need a little help. He thanked me.
Good for you Plainsman. Anytime I get on Southwest I let the pilot know I got my private pilot license in 1979, have about 500 hours and haven't flown in 20 years. However, if something comes up and he needs some help, this is my seat number.
I hope Mrs. Pman woke you up in that special way. Nothing says, "Love you, hun" like a trip to Omaha. I fondly recall the time I picked up this waitress at a Grandy's in O-Neb back in '88. Sugar T's to the T. Lemme tell ya. Ah, the life of a louvers salesman back in the 80s. Great times. Best of times.
Yeah, those are some bad pants. Those are my sitting-on-airplane jeans. In addition to being more comfortable when folded into Southwest seats, my recent weight loss means they ride a little lower and puddle down by my shoetops. If I'd known I was going to have a consult with the guy who was going to be named the Chairman of the first non-technology company to be valued at over $1 trillion on the list of public corporations by market capitalization the very next day, I'd at least have worn a tuck-in shirt and maybe slapped on a spot of moisturizer.

But Gus, I wanna get on the right bus. No need to discuss. Tell me how to set myself free. You seem so full of good information. Really needing your guidance on this one.
Looks like the Nashville Hot Chicken foodie fad is fast fading. Why the joint down the block, the toast of the ‘hood merely two years ago, is now changing over to a burger joint. Pretty cool, huh.
Not my ticket……. no All Hands Round Table after one of the biggest moments in Dallas Sports history? Too big of an inconvenience for the Tier One Boys. Moments like this are what made the little AM station into what is became. Down hill slide.
It wasn't exactly nuanced sports commentary, but I did get a kick out of the Hardline's reaction to Dallas getting the #1 lottery pick. Davey's damaging his voice was a highlight.
Well Plainsman can delete that comment for sure. I wonder if the Iheart suits look at Dallas and ask WTF. If memory serves they have 5 top tier fm signals and an AM signal. And they regularly get their ass handed to them in both ratings and revenue by Cumulus. Who has 1 decent FM signal, 2 top tier FMs and a motley collection of rejects and misfit signals. What does it say about the popularity of other stations in town when the top ratings grabber is an FM signal that’s non existent south of I-20, and a bad AM signal that's up in (to quote the OGW) the enchilada end of the radio dial. C
DFW sports media has to be feeling pretty lucky right now. The storylines/drama that these pro teams have had in recent years rivals anything that a NY or LA could come up with. Good for business for The Ticket and even The Fan
Did the Dumbzone do a broadcast after the lottery announcement? I looked, but don't think they did. Those are moments that I just don't get why they don't capitalize on. The news came out, the hardline was on for 30 more minutes, why not do an emergency pod?
Told y’all. They don’t care. Some of you are finally getting the message. The steady subbies are consistently ebbing. The eppys, fewer, shorter. But fret not, just like their Nelson remote, their summer bash will save the day. Kinda like the Rangers outing did last year. Oh. Yeah. Not.
Whos PUMPED for the Campound?!! Sean and Mino kicking it off with an epic Sweet Spot. Can't wait for the early morning Mino wake-up appearance, McClearin and all of his wacky antics, Sean doing the all-night midnight-6a shift.
It is. Loving your enthusiasm, Sam. Sucks you’re not here, but thems the breaks. Say, when are you going on TDZ? Seems they have on all disgruntled former employees. Not you, though. Huh?
Honest question. Why does TSS bother you so much? It’s just a radio show that’s on a mere hour and a half M-F. You have countless other options to fill that space. Not getting your constant harping on about them. You’re every bit as tiring as the Sam? idiot who replies to your comments. I must say that at this point it seems personal for you. Why? Again, it’s a flipping radio show. Do you think you’re going to alter others’ listening habits? Any sort of explanation here would be appreciated.
Whoa whoa whoa! Ox Dude, thou hast pierced mine bowels with thy cruel arrow. Man. Try to do a public service, and this is how you’re treated. Just funnin’ ya, O-Man. We’re good. Skin as thick as blue whale’s duck.
All the same person. This is bad. No one buys it. They don’t, either, by the way. Truly, it’s never seen. So. Again. What’s the end game here, honcho? FWI. You are terrible at playing this game. New hobby perhaps? It(you) gets worse as it (you) goes along.
I've enjoyed most of the round tables during the day but the night time stuff has largely not appealed to me. Again I feel like this is largely due to familiarity breeding contempt. I often feel like the Ticket is my friend from college that never grew up. I still love the guy but I just need a break when he gets too wound up.
Corby says he doesn't understand people like me who have mixed, or negative, emotions re: getting the #1 pick/Cooper Flagg. Here's my POV: Luka said it in his initial Lakers press conference, "Loyalty is a big thing for me." As much as I've soured on Nico and Dumont, it's not really wishing failure on them, and Cooper Flagg may be the greatest player ever. It's about me making massive emotional investments in Dirk and then Luka. I'm clearly overly invested because all through the Flagg glee, I keep thinking of Luka. My loyalty remains with him. Gotta swallow the bitter pill with that uniform, but it remains with him. It feels disloyal and even more disrespectful to Luka to go crazy for Flagg. I wanted to go on the full journey with Luka like we did with Dirk. Regardless of Flagg's abilities, it feels cheap to throw in so fast with him on the heels of the trade. It also all feels incredibly stupid to care about 18 and 25 year olds this much, but here we are. As baffled as Corby is re: the above, I'm equally baffled by his not considering it. I appreciate Bob naming it. #stayhardbob
SeanR, while I completely get where you are coming from and I feel mostly the same, I think we were all completely spoiled with Dirk. It is so rare that a player stays in one place his entire career, especially in today's NBA. I have talked a few people that think Luka would have eventually left at some point and I kind of feel the same way, he would have headed for brighter lights at some point. It is really easy after the fact to say you wanted to stay somewhere your whole career because we will never know the truth. He very well may have stayed here for the entirety and we would all be happy with our Dirk/Luka run. I think most Mavs fans would trade this #1 pick to go back and reverse the trade, but that isn't going to happen.
As with all sports, I have always been a laundry guy. I hate the trade, but I can't change it just like I can't change the owner back to Cuban or the GM to someone else. And I completely agree that it feels stupid to care this much about kids playing a game, but that is sports and it is really irrational.
^^^^^^ Somebody is seeing the end-game. Finally. Not sure if you really do. But if so, bravissima to you, toots. Took long enough. Bunch O dummies. I'll keep jammin'. Won't stop 'til I get the desired result. L8R G8R
Hello Friends! You may, or may not have heard that Danny, Mikey and me are bringing the Cirque show back. It will be live every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 8-10pm CST...and it's going to be pretty nuts. So many bits already planned and we are nowhere close to ready for the fist night tonight...but if you'd like to join us for opening night jitters and chaos please come by our Youtube page. Discord, guests, cocktails, insanity, Chef X, Marbles...all of it....love your buns! https://www.youtube.com/@CirqueDuSirois
We may be sorry they're no longer with The Ticket or unhappy with the circumstances surrounding their departure and subsequent employment, but these are all guys I enjoyed listening to and got no issue with them giving it a shot in this way.
Thanks plainsman…yeah it’s all good, and you don’t have to delete anything on account of me…it’s a free country. TBH Cirque never got to have a goodbye anyway. Totally cool if people feel like picking a side for some reason, we don’t look like that at all…just wanted those that might be interested to know that our stupid little thing, with Dingu added starts tonight…so if you felt like pouring a glass of vino and stopping by, we’d love to see ya! Vida loves you
I put the URL in the URL place and, shocker, blogspot doesn't really display it very intuatively that way - so, old fashion link here ya' go. https://www.reddit.com/r/theticket/comments/1krydyn/april_2025_ratings_update/
It’s obvious KTCK can put anything in daytime and get decent ratings. They aren’t gonna pay those hosts shit. All the money goes to drive time. I think most people are finally realizing that.
On today’s podcast of Cirque Du Sirois, Danny mentions something very interesting. The lady who was behind starting the Freak was fired 8 days before the station started. Since he didn’t come on until after they launched he had never met her. He first met her at a Dumb Zone remote. If she was at a Dumb Zone remote, she had to have been close with Dan and Jake. Just more proof that the original plan was for them to join the Freak, but their plans were foiled when the station went off the air.
Who cares? They LOST! What a bunch of losers trying to grasp what little relevance they have left. They were irrelevant the second they left The Ticket. That goes for everyone who has left or was fired. Cat knows talent.
Watched/skimmed through the first 2 episodes of CdS Redux. I'll give it a few more shots, but I have to say they haven't seemed to have learned a damn thing from their Freak experience. Lists, subject matter that might've been entertaining in '12 (when they and most of their audience was 13 years younger), little inside baseball nuggets about the Freak, and... wait for it... TICKET TICKET TICKET stories. Oh, and Mike's hair. Not sure if it's a sign of mental health issues, urban attention seeking, someone more into substances than they ought to be, or a combo platter thereof. Bottom line is that once again, you're only appealing to a very niche audience, who, once the dirt is all dished up, the stories of yore told, and the aggressive to passive-aggressive jabs are done being thrown at former employers/ees, that's all she wrote. There's nothing else to say. This point will be reached within a month, perhaps two weeks. After that, the tank is empty. Hope I'm wrong, but I've seen this short film before. I highly doubt there's a surprise of a twist ending.
The whole “Cat knows Talent” argument is so weak. He didn’t fire any of the people who left. There were not spots open for them to be hosts which is why they left! Sirois would be a host right now had he stayed.
It’s been stated and it’s very clear that Sirois was not guaranteed a host position once Norm Retired. Cat did not see Sirois as a team player and was not going to give him a host spot.
SayWhatYouWant about Mikey S, but the dude is funny, a bit machine, & quick on the quips. -I found the Goalie names back&forth pretty funny, as it was just an In the Moment bit. "Marty Party". "Cujo". "Are we just naming goalies now?" "Hockey Genuis showed up, got any other questions?" Very glad for the Cirque Redux - - looking forward to a Chef X visit!
Mikey can't have been both "not host material" and stupid for leaving instead of waiting for a slot to open up. If Cat didn't consider him host material than Mikey had to leave to get a chance to be a host. It didn't work out but if that was what he wanted than staying at the ticket as a producer would have been a mistake. There are still a lot of bad bits being driven into the ground here.
So you don't think Cat had anything to do with putting The Hangzone together? Or The Hardline 5.0, with the addition of Davey? Or adding Donnie to BaD and thereby giving him the on-air time to build up his chops, then pairing him with Norm to further build his chops and become an Alpha? Or seeing Jake's abilities and making him a host when the spot opened up? And so on. I think you're claim is weak, actually.
I couldn't disagree with you more, Dru. I find him to be a one trick party pony. The milk turned sour on that one damn near half a decade ago. To each their own. Will say that you sound like an info-mercial. But you be you.
Here's what I think the issue is with all these Bet on Myselfers. They live in a myopic bubble world inhabited by a small cadre of genuine fans, kiss ups, and hangers on. When I say small, I mean small - specially when compared to the group(ies) they had while at TT. These folks mostly reside online, which is where the BoMs mostly reside these days. Though I do know of at least one local wateringhole several of them call a second home. And it's there where they get the IRL love and feels. Upshot is this The World Needs You More Than Ever, You Brilliant Ones, You echo chamber that they've in part created and in full have fostered, nay encouraged, has them believing any and everything Them is endlessly fascinating. Problem is, it isn't and They aren't. Well, unless you're one of the bubblers. Thinking you probably are, Dru. But that's OK. Have at it and have your fun and your "access" to Them. Nodding toward Oxey's point, it is this very insular mentality that caused The Freak to fail. From what I've seen, none of the BoMers (ooh, so close to boomers) have yet to learn from their colossal past mistake. I don't include Jake and Dan here because they have basically tried to recreate TT in miniature. That's another bizarro world thing in itself, but hey, more power to them, I guess.
I do wish all BoMers the best of luck. And I say to the Bubblers, "Enjoy the ride while it lasts, because it's 'prolly gonna be a short one." I raise one up in hopes they figure out merely existing and opening your mouth isn't enough. One final thing: There's a reason why the Cavanaughs of the world are able to continue to earn a living in the medium, while others keep talking about and try going about recreating the past.
1. How do you know it was Bennett? You'd only know if you are some sad sack current or ex employee creeping around a station fan page.
2. Let's say you are a current or ex sad sack. Hell, you might've just got lucky. You ought to check the charts, my dude, because you'll see the other examples I listed are correct. There's more than those, to boot.
You're always getting bested around here. Yet you keep coming back for more. Silly goose.
Bennett called the hire in the first place as well as the pairing with Norm:
“By the time Cumulus took over the Dallas stations, much of the on-air staff was already in place. However, there was still a bit of the unorthodox gambler in Bennett. At KLIF, he had hired on an Oak Cliff barber, because Bennett liked his knowledgeable call-in questions and gravelly voice. He found a more recent hire for The Ticket, Donovan Lewis, in the company cafeteria. “I would walk in and there would be Donovan just lighting up the room,” Bennett says. “He had everyone laughing.”
Lewis went from production and board operator to on-air personality, with advice from Bennett to “just be yourself.” From 2006 through 2015, Lewis was part of the noon to 3 p.m. broadcast on The Ticket. Bennett wanted him to join National Radio Hall of Famer Hitzges in the 10 a.m. to noon slot. But it was not an easy sale to Hitzges, who had gone solo for nearly 40 years. And Lewis didn’t want it to be “Norm Hitzges, with special guest Donovan Lewis.” Forced or not, the 2015 marriage worked.”
While not as impactful as Grubes boardop work, Donnie got his on air start as Kevin McCarthy's board op. Kevin started his show with a daily 'staff meeting" (a bit he stole from Ron Chapman) got Donnie air time and noticed by the higher ups.
The elephant in the room might also be the fact that management had Leon Simon and Donnie on air as an attempt to lure more black listeners to the station. YMMV
How do you know it was Cat that made all the other personnel decisions? The hearing made it clear it was Bennett that viewed Bob as ready for prime time and Dan not. So how do you know Bennett didn’t make that call?
There was a time when both Jake and TC would frequent here. I shit you not, at one point Jake dropped a link to his Masters thesis. This was back when he was still JV. It was right before he became BaD’s producer. Comment above is correct about the Sirois twins and Sam. Cat’s been here a couple of times throughout the years, as well.
I always heard three stories. One was he and Elf had a falling out. Two was he didn’t see a future in it and had other things taking up his time/ actually earning him money. And three (tell me if this sounds familiar), their weekend/fill in show, The Bottle Rockets, thought they were ready for prime time. But whereas Elf knew the industry and the reality of how it works, Shaps did not, became frustrated, disgruntled, and eventually left. Addendum to this last one is that his behavior caused a fallout between the pair. My guess is the real reason is a combo of the three.
Last I heard he was working for Westwood 2 in N Dallas as a country jock, but a quick google tells me he’s either working for one of the rimshot R stations in FW (ranch, range, etc) or just took the OM job of a country station in Stephenville.
Btw, watched the two CdS episodes. Now that they’ve spilled -at least their version of- the tea on The Freak, what’s next? More Ticket stories and innuendo? I ask because everything else was a continuation of their MO whilst on The Freak. An MO that flopped spectacularly, regardless of their given narrative. But unless this is merely a hobby, a podcast weekend warrior softball team if you will, I really think they ought to look hard into the mirror and figure out what they’re doing, and more importantly, why. To put it into a language Danny most certainly understands: It’s akin to wanting to write and record an album without a single idea other than that one song you tracked years ago. A track, if you’re honest with yourself, that hasn’t age well. But you like the small amount of buzz talk of new material brings into your orbit, and in truth it’s that buzz and not creating music that now keeps you going.
If it is just a hobby with no aspirations beyond something to do whenever they feel like doing it, OK, I guess I get it. Maybe. If there are goals beyond that, man, that’s kind of wild. Regardless of the intent, it seems like there are certain people for whom the need to be in front of others, to have their attention, is a tractor beam of sorts.
Yeah, OK. But sharp for what? No one is gonna hire any of these folks. If there was real interest in any of them, they’d be at their new job—either in this market or elsewhere. The shit pulled when exiting their OG job plus the shit pulled at their last job plus all the shit talked about all of it all along the way ensured them to be un-hireable in this industry. Their only option is podcasting. And doing it DIY or at best with friends who have their own DIY “podcasting network.”
That sums it up tidily. Someone else said there’s a reason why Jeff Cavanaugh has a full time gig. Whether you like them or not, there’s also a reason why Ben and Skin keep hanging around. It’s called not burning bridges. Keeping your powder dry. Going about your business professionally and acting as if you actually care about having a career and being a good employee. They all thought they were Rhyner and followed his lead. Their way was through him. Or so he led them to believe. His arrogance. Their foolishness. Even long after realizing his way is not theirs, they continue to act as if they are him. No lessons have been learned.
Hey all! Good to see you all chewing up the details of the who's and why's from the past, as well as what we're cooking up. If you don't dig it, thats all good. We're just going to keep doing us and if you happen to like our ice cream flavor, have a scoop. That passion is what makes this site so special so, again, tip of the cap to the Plainsman. One of the biggest reasons we wanted to bring Cirque back in this nighttime form was for live watching parties like we're going to have during tonights Stars Game 4. So, if you like, come try synching the Stars game up with our stream. We'll have Kelly Forbes, former Video Coach for the team, and Julie's husband watching live with us. Breaking down controversial calls in real time. Or, if not? It's a free country. Here's to 2-2
Now worries even if they were. It's all good. Just trying to let those that might be interested know what we've got cooking tonight and, if not interested, please disregard! Thanks, Oxey
Why would anyone want to inform Mike Mikey Sea Cow Fate of Man Sirois of your opinion? Since you’re a reg redditor fan girl, why don’t you do your own dirty work?
That’s just, uh, sad. Really stirring shit up with that one, scooter. Got anything better in the hopper, or did ya blow yer trickle of a wad with that masterwork?
So…Sirois and Dingu mentioned on their podcast that they haven’t talked with Rhyner since they stopped doing a show with him. Shocker. The Old Gray Wolf sure has some thin skin. Who has he not fallen out with at this point? Grubes, you’re next!
Mike gets it. Their way wasn’t through him. In fact, believing the Oak Cliff Con Man was one of the worst decisions they have made in their lives. Danny would still have cache and connections; Sirois, well, he’d be doing 9-1, a full fledged host—loved by all. But they were all in on it from the onset. It was in the works before Rhyner’s faux Irish Goodbye. They all played their parts. Deception, Inc. Should’ve stayed on the farm. Should’ve listened to my old man. Should’ve. Thought they were Rhyner. Still, no lesson learned. Still blaming others. Still listening to an ever shrinking cadre of ass sniffers. Mirror, gents. Find one.
I’m very much liking your offering. Next time, however, how ‘bout throwing in a semi-colon? Or even a semen-colon. Just sayiin’. On the whole, good shit.
Yes, Dog, deceit of the highest order. A charade that began 2 years prior to its ill fated launch. One the two workin’ class dogs cum heroes were in on. Well, until the initial sortie fucked it up so bad, that they had to scotch the OG plan and settle for far less. Oh so far less. ‘‘Twas gonna be the pm drive battle of the ages. But this time ‘round the bunker was forged in entitlement, faux-self-generated-false-narrative driven spite in service of justification. Such a foundation is more fragile than a house of cards.
You are aptly named. As Socrates, later St Paul, said: “ Gnosi seauton.” Know thyself. And you most certainly do, Moron.
Socrates also believed that arguments must be backed by evidence. So prove it, if you know all of this as fact, offer up some proof. Without proof all of this on both sides of the narrative is just hot air. Cold air by now given how long people have been spouting the same vague ramblings about what did or didn't happen.
Actually, no, he didn’t. He proffered a syllogistic form of argumentation, which has nothing to do with facts. Truth is a secondary even tertiary consideration.
And how do you know that I don’t know what I’m talking about?
Because you and everyone else on here who claims to know what happen have never offered any verifiable proof. You've never sourced your information and never put your name on it. I don't know that you don't know what you're talking about but in the absence of proof I reserve the right to doubt you.
Your cocksure implementation of something you don’t understand-Socrates/the Socratic Method-disqualifies you from this conversation. Sorry, themselves the rules. I don’t make ‘em, but I do abide. Now continue to tell us how you no longer like this show or that host every 2-1/2 weeks.
There are no such rules in effect here so you are not following anything. Nothing disqualifies me from any conversation here. You are more than welcome to pass on by anything I write. I will grant you that I did make a generalization on Socrates and should have stated he expected reasoned logical arguments. I do not believe that you can have a reasoned logical argument without facts and evidence. My mistake for projecting onto Socrates. However, none of that changes the fact that no one has ever offered a shred of evidence for their claims on either side of the discussion about the expats. If people have actual facts that they can use to back up their alligations and innuendo it seems only right that they do, in order to have this conspiracy exposed and the truth brought to the light of day. I would think that it would be an actual moral and intellectual imperative to do so.
I frankly don't care if Dan and Jake succeed or fall on their face. I stopped listening to THZ when Bob left and I haven't heard a single minute of the TDZ.
I do make comments on the current shows on the ticket, that is what the site is about. You are of course welcome not to read anything I write. I always use the same log in, so it would be easy to skip anything I I write.
Mike Rhyner. He went from a Drive-Time host on the number 1 station in town to doing a podcast no one listens to with Grubes. He brings in a guy who was relevant 20 years ago (Greggo), to bring people in and it still doesn’t work.
“You can never be unfaithful to your one true love. You’ll always come back to her.” - Norm Petersen (RIP, George Wendt)
Rhyner is comfortable again. He has absconded to a once very real but now self created Never Land of sorts: The Halcyon Days. To being hero worshipped, to being thought of as wise, one not to be trifled with, one who suffers no fool. A time before Mike emerged (the real Mike), shattering the illusion. Toto struck once more.
Don’t you worry about Rhyner. Like Nick Faldo, he’s in his happy place. He’s with his one true love.
Seems like some of you are finally catching on to big pic items. Wait until they begin to turn on each other, and not just OGW. That’s when things will get interesting. That’s when little by little the actual truth will start to come out. They basically rat themselves out in service of throwing one another under the bus. The Freak? Oh, buddy. It began in ‘19. A new Bunker was constructed. The Special Ones were handpicked. The down low was so low. So low. Narratives were forged, then alternate narratives. They convinced themselves they were maltreated. Why even The One came to think he was shunted Ed aside. All lies, of course. Then the dominos began to fall, beginning with that cataclysmic opening gambit.
The truth, eventually, always, outs. Usually in an unexpected way. This particular tangled web will be no different.
I guess it depends on what one cares about? I personally don't care to assign the highest degree of failure to anyone. I would care about verifiable facts about the hows and whys of their leaving, but we aren't going to get that from either side I guess I care about the posters here that are sure they know the "real story" and assure us that it will all come out but never post anything but vague innuendo. I care about that because it is annoying AF to see the same meaningless nonsense posted again and again. In this thread we once again have two seperate posters (maybe) both claiming to know the inside story claiming that Mikey S was both never going to be a host even if he stayed and another insider claiming that he would be hosting 9-1 if he had stayed. It just seems like a huge waste of energy on the part of the people posting such things.
It’s a fuccin fan site for a radio station, KDF. You’re expecting people to be coherent? You’re expecting a seamless narrative? Get outta here. Ticket and DZ Reddit would best suit you. Both are echo chambers.
Remember when they would sub in Jake during vacations/out sick.... Wish they would bring in Monty to join Gordo and Craig for a few of these shows. But, that would also prove just how far better he is at it than some. Kinda? I don't know. Wow.
I think its a little early to make that call. You may be correct but Junior said this morning that they'd have a different fill in every day that Jub was out. We might still get Monty before its said and done. We are only two days into Jubs time off.
As you know, at the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting (“Woodstock for Capitalists”) Saturday Warren Buffett announced that he will be stepping down as one of the two co-chairmen of Berkshire Hathaway. I told him Berkshire Hathaway should buy Cumulus.
did you ask him for a bad radio liner?
DeleteGood for you Plainsman. Anytime I get on Southwest I let the pilot know I got my private pilot license in 1979, have about 500 hours and haven't flown in 20 years. However, if something comes up and he needs some help, this is my seat number.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I'm sure most Confessors exhibit the same spirit of helpfulness when others are in need.
DeleteI hope Mrs.
DeleteGreg's gonna need your list of Top 10 Ticket JVers before he's gonna be willing to buy Cumulus
ReplyDeleteYours first.
DeleteHell, you could just about buy Cumulus with your 1 share of BRK.A. $2.6 Milly mkt cap
ReplyDeleteIt’s not working. New angle, please. You’re a bore.
Delete"I dont know if they're listening, ha ha"
ReplyDelete"Probably not, ha ha"
Unfortunately for Monty Ham & Lando, they Have to be listening to those 2 stumble their way thru interviews and segments.

DeleteUnlike you, who is unable to advance. They won, Sam.
DeleteI’ve never given much thought to what you might look like, but I’ve somehow always known those would be the jeans.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best comment in the history of this website
DeleteYeah, those are some bad pants.
DeleteCMLS: Single digies here we come!
ReplyDeleteIf a bit is dropped and no one cares…. Sam?
DeleteHave you checked out iHeart lately?
DeleteSshhhh, Gopher. Don’t spoil the narrative.
DeleteIHRT market cap is literally 100x higher than CMLS
DeleteTT is done. Gus, tell us what to do next. Where should we go?
DeleteYou should go to where you are most interested or entertained
DeleteBut Gus, I wanna get on the right bus. No need to discuss. Tell me how to set myself free. You seem so full of good information. Really needing your guidance on this one.
DeleteAnd set yourself free
DeleteAnyone hang with TDZ at the Nelson? Any known interaction between TT and TDZ during the competing remotes?
DeleteLooks like the Nashville Hot Chicken foodie fad is fast fading. Why the joint down the block, the toast of the ‘hood merely two years ago, is now changing over to a burger joint. Pretty cool, huh.

ReplyDeleteNot my ticket……. no All Hands Round Table after one of the biggest moments in Dallas Sports history? Too big of an inconvenience for the Tier One Boys. Moments like this are what made the little AM station into what is became. Down hill slide.
ReplyDeleteHey, you’re right! EVERYONE agrees with you. The ratings across the board show this. Thank you for your service AND for what you do to your body.
DeleteI suppose they could have rounded up a table. But hard to plan for that when its odds were 1.x %.
DeleteIt wasn't exactly nuanced sports commentary, but I did get a kick out of the Hardline's reaction to Dallas getting the #1 lottery pick. Davey's damaging his voice was a highlight.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Donovan's account during the Invasion of his Mav's credential featuring portions of Amber Campisi over the years.
ReplyDeleteIHRT Market Cap $200MM
ReplyDeleteCMLS Market Cap $2MM
Thanks, Sam. Hope this makes you feel better. Though it doesn’t change the outcome: they still win.

DeleteWell Plainsman can delete that comment for sure.
DeleteI wonder if the Iheart suits look at Dallas and ask WTF.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the offial mavs station, The Freq
DeleteDid the Dumbzone do a broadcast after the lottery announcement? I looked, but don't think they did. Those are moments that I just don't get why they don't capitalize on. The news came out, the hardline was on for 30 more minutes, why not do an emergency pod?
ReplyDeleteThe Hardline was already in studio. It's quite possible TDZ were out to pasture at the time.
DeleteTold y’all. They don’t care. Some of you are finally getting the message. The steady subbies are consistently ebbing. The eppys, fewer, shorter. But fret not, just like their Nelson remote, their summer bash will save the day. Kinda like the Rangers outing did last year. Oh. Yeah. Not.
DeleteFewer, shorter episodes? How do you figure? They've consistently done 4 episodes of 150-180 minutes/wk for years
DeleteYears? Naw, bud. Check your calendar. While you’re at it, check their numbers. Not going in the right direction, skippy.

DeleteWhos PUMPED for the Campound?!! Sean and Mino kicking it off with an epic Sweet Spot. Can't wait for the early morning Mino wake-up appearance, McClearin and all of his wacky antics, Sean doing the all-night midnight-6a shift.
ReplyDeleteGonna be amazing!
It is. Loving your enthusiasm, Sam. Sucks you’re not here, but thems the breaks. Say, when are you going on TDZ? Seems they have on all disgruntled former employees. Not you, though. Huh?
DeleteHonest question.
DeleteWhoa whoa whoa! Ox Dude, thou hast pierced mine bowels with thy cruel arrow. Man. Try to do a public service, and this is how you’re treated. Just funnin’ ya, O-Man. We’re good. Skin as thick as blue whale’s duck.
DeleteI'm enjoying Cats mandate, at least for now, that headsets are reserved for Hardline, Musers, & Donnie.
ReplyDeleteOopps, sorry my bad - lemme save the Troll with a Major E some time------
Delete"Sam????"
"They Won"
Hey Seabass, Hey Mino, let's cut that back a little bit.
DeleteTrying Way Too Hard.
All the same person. This is bad. No one buys it. They don’t, either, by the way. Truly, it’s never seen. So. Again. What’s the end game here, honcho? FWI. You are terrible at playing this game. New hobby perhaps? It(you) gets worse as it (you) goes along.
Deleteper Campound, ProTip- very much read into why Gordo was not a part of 'Postgame' and who is on air when he does decide to show up.

ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed most of the round tables during the day but the night time stuff has largely not appealed to me. Again I feel like this is largely due to familiarity breeding contempt. I often feel like the Ticket is my friend from college that never grew up. I still love the guy but I just need a break when he gets too wound up.
ReplyDeleteGood comp. Same here.
DeleteCorby says he doesn't understand people like me who have mixed, or negative, emotions re: getting the #1 pick/Cooper Flagg.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same. If you didn't hear it, check out the interview The DZ did with Jason Gallagher on Thursday May 15. You will love it.
DeleteWhat’s DZ?
DeleteWho are Luka and Nico?
DeleteI don't get how people could get so invested in Luka lol. Dude was a chore to watch play basketball.
DeleteThe day either Dan or Jake get anything right, on any subject, is the day I go top tier sub.
DeleteTry'in Too Hard, weekdays 1-3.
DeleteSeanR, while I completely get where you are coming from and I feel mostly the same, I think we were all completely spoiled with Dirk.
DeleteAs with all sports, I have always been a laundry guy. I hate the trade, but I can't change it just like I can't change the owner back to Cuban or the GM to someone else. And I completely agree that it feels stupid to care this much about kids playing a game, but that is sports and it is really irrational.

DeleteHello Friends!

DeleteThere had better be no opening of trading cards. God almighty, is there anything more boring than watching a guy open trading cards?
DeleteEh, it might be boring but it's less cringe than a dude posting up pictures of redheads on his "blog".
DeleteEasy, everyone.
ReplyDeleteNice of Cash to check in.
We may be sorry they're no longer with The Ticket or unhappy with the circumstances surrounding their departure and subsequent employment, but these are all guys I enjoyed listening to and got no issue with them giving it a shot in this way.
Break a leg, gents.

DeleteHere are the April ratings. Have a kick ass day.
ReplyDeleteI put the URL in the URL place and, shocker, blogspot doesn't really display it very intuatively that way - so, old fashion link here ya' go.
Deletehttps://www.reddit.com/r/theticket/comments/1krydyn/april_2025_ratings_update/
It looks like the redditors are starting to realize that the fate of a radio station doesn't hinge on a midday show.
ReplyDeleteIt’s obvious KTCK can put anything in daytime and get decent ratings. They aren’t gonna pay those hosts shit. All the money goes to drive time. I think most people are finally realizing that.
DeleteWowy: looks like the afternoon shift showed up. Still more of the same.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteIt doesn't look like the redditors realize much of anything. They seem to be a rather disgruntled lot.
DeleteOn today’s podcast of Cirque Du Sirois, Danny mentions something very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWho cares? They LOST! What a bunch of losers trying to grasp what little relevance they have left. They were irrelevant the second they left The Ticket. That goes for everyone who has left or was fired. Cat knows talent.
DeleteWatched/skimmed through the first 2 episodes of CdS Redux.
DeleteThe whole “Cat knows Talent” argument is so weak. He didn’t fire any of the people who left. There were not spots open for them to be hosts which is why they left! Sirois would be a host right now had he stayed.
ReplyDeleteIt’s been stated and it’s very clear that Sirois was not guaranteed a host position once Norm Retired. Cat did not see Sirois as a team player and was not going to give him a host spot.
DeleteSayWhatYouWant about Mikey S, but the dude is funny, a bit machine, & quick on the quips.
Delete-I found the Goalie names back&forth pretty funny, as it was just an In the Moment bit. "Marty Party". "Cujo". "Are we just naming goalies now?" "Hockey Genuis showed up, got any other questions?"
Very glad for the Cirque Redux - - looking forward to a Chef X visit!
DeleteHe left because he knew he wasn’t going to get the chance to host even if there was a spot. Cat told him as much.
DeleteTo, Phil. That’s a statement, not an argument.
DeleteSo you don't think Cat had anything to do with putting The Hangzone together? Or The Hardline 5.0, with the addition of Davey? Or adding Donnie to BaD and thereby giving him the on-air time to build up his chops, then pairing him with Norm to further build his chops and become an Alpha? Or seeing Jake's abilities and making him a host when the spot opened up? And so on. I think you're claim is weak, actually.
DeleteDonovan’s addition to BaD was entirely a Dan Bennett edict.
DeleteI couldn't disagree with you more, Dru. I find him to be a one trick party pony. The milk turned sour on that one damn near half a decade ago. To each their own. Will say that you sound like an info-mercial. But you be you.
DeleteHere's what I think the issue is with all these Bet on Myselfers.
Delete2.
Delete“By the time Cumulus took over the Dallas stations, much of the on-air staff was already in place.
DeleteThe elephant in the room might also be the fact that management had Leon Simon and Donnie on air as an attempt to lure more black listeners to the station.
YMMV
So the question to you:
ReplyDeleteHow do you know it was Cat that made all the other personnel decisions? The hearing made it clear it was Bennett that viewed Bob as ready for prime time and Dan not. So how do you know Bennett didn’t make that call?
Because he said he did in both his last two Ticketstock AMAs.
DeleteCheck and mate.
He also said, under oath, that he didn’t know what The Fan was
Deletelooks like both Sean and Mino were at Game2 tonight...just gonna take a looksie at the box score andddd
ReplyDeletesad. They Won. try harder. They Won. Sam? those two have won all and everything and all.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteNow you’re catching on. The stuff of a short bidder, for sure. Still. Better than what you’ve been attempting to do for lo these many months.
DeleteSam? That you?
ReplyDeleteWhat Ex Ticket people actually come on here?
ReplyDeleteSam. Sirois bros… Cash using his name, Mike using made up monikers. Others too. Specially JVs.
DeleteThere was a time when both Jake and TC would frequent here. I shit you not, at one point Jake dropped a link to his Masters thesis. This was back when he was still JV. It was right before he became BaD’s producer. Comment above is correct about the Sirois twins and Sam. Cat’s been here a couple of times throughout the years, as well.
DeleteMy bad. Peter Welpton posts here every month with the latest ratings. Very cool of him, btw.
DeleteHeard good ol' Elf this Memorial Day morning. That dude is a pro, I'm always entertained when I listen to him.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for long time listeners, what happened to Steve Shapiro?
I always heard three stories. One was he and Elf had a falling out. Two was he didn’t see a future in it and had other things taking up his time/ actually earning him money. And three (tell me if this sounds familiar), their weekend/fill in show, The Bottle Rockets, thought they were ready for prime time. But whereas Elf knew the industry and the reality of how it works, Shaps did not, became frustrated, disgruntled, and eventually left. Addendum to this last one is that his behavior caused a fallout between the pair. My guess is the real reason is a combo of the three.
ReplyDeleteWhile on the subjuect of former Ticket hosts, what ever happened to the guys from The Hot Spot?
DeleteLast I heard he was working for Westwood 2 in N Dallas as a country jock, but a quick google tells me he’s either working for one of the rimshot R stations in FW (ranch, range, etc) or just took the OM job of a country station in Stephenville.
DeleteBtw, watched the two CdS episodes.
ReplyDeleteIf it is just a hobby with no aspirations beyond something to do whenever they feel like doing it, OK, I guess I get it. Maybe. If there are goals beyond that, man, that’s kind of wild. Regardless of the intent, it seems like there are certain people for whom the need to be in front of others, to have their attention, is a tractor beam of sorts.
My view is most of these podcasts are to keep their names out there or a way to keep the skills sharp.
ReplyDeleteYeah, OK.
DeleteThat sums it up tidily.
DeleteHey all! Here's to 2-2
ReplyDeleteThose comments, I guarantee, weren’t about you in any way, Cash. Mine certainly wasn’t But your comment and thoughts are much appreciated.
DeleteNow worries even if they were. It's all good. Just trying to let those that might be interested know what we've got cooking tonight and, if not interested, please disregard! Thanks, Oxey
DeleteI think with the amount of time that Craig takes off it is now official……Craig Miller is the stations first Tier 2 employee. Someone tell the Sea Cow.
ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone want to inform Mike Mikey Sea Cow Fate of Man Sirois of your opinion? Since you’re a reg redditor fan girl, why don’t you do your own dirty work?
Delete30 percent bonuses on annuities won't be around forever. Lock in now otherwise you will get a 40 percent bonus on next years offer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, man:
DeleteDamn this site is DEAD!
ReplyDeleteJust like the Ticket has been for the past three years!!!!
Haha! Long live The Dumb Zone!
Cat sucks!
Thanks man
DeleteThat’s just, uh, sad. Really stirring shit up with that one, scooter. Got anything better in the hopper, or did ya blow yer trickle of a wad with that masterwork?
DeleteSo…Sirois and Dingu mentioned on their podcast that they haven’t talked with Rhyner since they stopped doing a show with him. Shocker. The Old Gray Wolf sure has some thin skin. Who has he not fallen out with at this point? Grubes, you’re next!
ReplyDeleteMike gets it. Find one.

Cool.
I’m very much liking your offering. Next time, however, how ‘bout throwing in a semi-colon? Or even a semen-colon. Just sayiin’. On the whole, good shit.
DeleteI do love calling him the Oak Cliff Con Man. Turning his own words against him.
DeleteDECEIT
DeleteYes, Dog, deceit of the highest order.
DeleteYou are aptly named.
DeleteActually, no, he didn’t. He proffered a syllogistic form of argumentation, which has nothing to do with facts. Truth is a secondary even tertiary consideration.
DeleteAnd how do you know that I don’t know what I’m talking about?
Because you and everyone else on here who claims to know what happen have never offered any verifiable proof. You've never sourced your information and never put your name on it. I don't know that you don't know what you're talking about but in the absence of proof I reserve the right to doubt you.
DeleteYour cocksure implementation of something you don’t understand-Socrates/the Socratic Method-disqualifies you from this conversation. Sorry, themselves the rules. I don’t make ‘em, but I do abide. Now continue to tell us how you no longer like this show or that host every 2-1/2 weeks.
DeleteThere are no such rules in effect here so you are not following anything.
DeleteI frankly don't care if Dan and Jake succeed or fall on their face. I stopped listening to THZ when Bob left and I haven't heard a single minute of the TDZ.
I do make comments on the current shows on the ticket, that is what the site is about. You are of course welcome not to read anything I write. I always use the same log in, so it would be easy to skip anything I I write.
Who is the biggest failure since leaving The Ticket?
ReplyDeleteMike Rhyner. He went from a Drive-Time host on the number 1 station in town to doing a podcast no one listens to with Grubes. He brings in a guy who was relevant 20 years ago (Greggo), to bring people in and it still doesn’t work.
Delete“You can never be unfaithful to your one true love. You’ll always come back to her.” - Norm Petersen (RIP, George Wendt)
DeleteRhyner is comfortable again.
Not working? Hah! His last ep with Greggo registered 697 views on YouTube! Top that!
DeleteCheck it out, the Husky Hugger now looks like some shop teacher who is guest hosting with Norm on The New Yankee Workshop.
And 645 of them are Sideshow Bob and Rafe burner accounts.
DeleteSeems like some of you are finally catching on to big pic items.
DeleteThe truth, eventually, always, outs. Usually in an unexpected way. This particular tangled web will be no different.
who really cares
DeleteYou care. It’s obvious. Why else would you deign to leave a comment? Why would you even visit this site? You care. Deeply.

DeleteI guess it depends on what one cares about?
DeleteAnd they aren’t going to yours, either.
DeleteWeak, playground stuff, Vicki. That all ya got? Sad sack.
It’s a fuccin fan site for a radio station, KDF. You’re expecting people to be coherent? You’re expecting a seamless narrative? Get outta here. Ticket and DZ Reddit would best suit you. Both are echo chambers.
DeleteAnother 9 day Muser vacation, another 9 show stretch where Cat does not trust any current on-air staff to fill in.
ReplyDeleteRemember when they would sub in Jake during vacations/out sick....
DeleteWish they would bring in Monty to join Gordo and Craig for a few of these shows.
DeleteCool how you know what goes on behind the scenes and why. Tell us more, insider.
DeleteNew thread starting . . . now.
