  3. So it is actually official. I thought this was just loose talk. Here's context, for those like me that didn't understand what this post was about: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/7/prweb9667867.htm

  4. If this press release hasn't been read on air, then it needs to be. "the ticket sports radio"....hurts to miss that one. Just an amazing job by this PR hack.

  5. Anyone know what Ticket guys get for promotional appearances? I'm sure it varies based on the host and the sponsor. Just thinking about George and Gordon at the Raising Cain's opening today in Rowlett. Getting a major host has to be pricey -- getting two, that's a lot of secret sauce.

Still wonder if G&G really like those things anywhere near what the deranged enthusiasm in their ads would seem to indicate.

  6. George DeJohn was a good radio name.

    DiGianni? Not so much.

  7. GD's an odd duck. Seems to forever being on some search for self discovery. And does it in a very public way. His show is a stop down for me. It's amazing to listing to a now seasoned host, week after week, go absolutely to town on everything. The man has no internal governor on his throttle. Highly recommended radio. And of course, after that power hour you have the mix with The Tee Box.

  8. I get a kick out of George D. Last Anon's account is pretty accurate. He's hostile to "organized" medicine (but is careful not to warn his listeners off of it entirely), and enamored of various supplements, "real" organic food, burst-training, and, of course, frequent and vigorous "cleansing." I'm up early a lot of Saturdays, and The Train Station Fitness Show is always on the Philco.

Frankly, if you followed George's advice every day, you'd probably look a lot more like George than you do.

And you gotta love a guy who uses the old "George of the Jungle" theme as his opening music.

And yes, that Tee Box mix has yielded some real gold over the years.

Although I believe George is unwed, why do I get the feeling there's a babe behind this name-change somewhere? Just a hunch, no evidence.

  9. GDG has no problems saying anything and everything on-air. I once heard him stop down the shop, mid-interview, to tell a sleepy and mush-mouth guest doctor to raise his energy level because he was putting the listeners to sleep.

    He's got balls, that guy.

  10. Anyone catch Gordo's revisiting of his marriage segment today? I'll be damned if he didn't confirm what the 1:15 anon wrote yesterday. I wonder if that anon emailed Gordo what he wrote or if Gordo himself saw the post on this site? He sure seemed to be aware of something that was said or written. Kinda on the defensive a bit. Probably from all the emails I imagine he got from people scratching their heads and wondering what fantasy world he lives in. I can always tell when Gordo thinks he might've looked dumb. It's when he revisits a controversial segment and uses his NPR voice. where he tries to gently tell you that you didn't get what he was saying. If you're out there 1:15 anon, I'd like to get your take on the follow up.

Remember when he got kicked in the balls on the air to prove he could take it? Good times.

  13. The Tee Box is my favorite show, after The Morning Musers. It embodies what The Ticket used to be like in its halcyon days. That is, you have a couple of guys who truly are like you and your buddies, who like to give their honest HSOs, aren't afraid to dish on behind the sport's scene rumors, and talk about day to day stuff that we all have to deal with. Excepting, at times, The Musers, none of the other shows do that anymore. It's a shame, but I guess that's the price of local B-List fame. Not so with The Tee Box boys (or with the newly minted Digianni). WSIWYG all the way.

  14. 104.1 FM The Ticket completely off the air as of 3:57 p.m. I don't have AM reception where I am right now. Can anyone advise re 1310 AM The Ticket?

  18. Don't know if you've noticed, Plainsman, but for the last couple of weeks, whenever a station ID break occurs, there is no longer a mention of 104.1 fm. Only the am and the HD signals are given out. Maybe they chucked the signal?

    ReplyDelete
  19. @6:15 Anonymous: No, I had not noticed that, but it is the most interesting piece of news this site has seen in a long time.

My travels take me north a fairish amount of the time, and I will tell you that 104.1 FM is the way to go. And, of course, in some parts, its the only way to hear the station clearly overnight.

So it is extremely interesting if what you've described is, as it is reasonable to assume, a way of de-emphasizing the availability of that signal in preparation for . . .

Signal change. One of Your Plainsman's strong interests from a fairly early date.

Of course, who knows what goes on in the mind of the CTO? Could mean nothing at all, in which case it's just strange.

But I choose to think that it is the most solid piece of evidence we have to date that change is in the wind. Many thanks for calling it to The Nation's attention.

  20. HOLY MOLY!!!!!! Anyone out there listening to Jerry Jones's state of the team address? Well, good old Jer Jer just proclaimed that not only would he like to get back to them "glory hole days," but also that he "wants him some of that glory hole." WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dictating from remote. Glory hole does have a meaning in oil exploration. However, it does not mean a glorious discovery of oil. The ticket guys suggested it is a wildcatting term but i think it has ro do with underwater production. So it does seem deeply weird and jerry=clueless. Not an expert and would welcome advice.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, it also has two other, related, meanings: one has to do with the vajayjay and the other with a hole drilled out in a bathroom stall...if you know what I mean and I think we all do. Whatever way in which Jerry meant it, he's a flippin' idiot for using the term, period. He is officially Al Davis.

    ReplyDelete
  23. They've already turned it into a promo.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Plainsman, seriously? You have no idea as to why people are making fun of Jerry's use of the term gloryhole?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Name: Of course I do, as does everyone who reads this site. Which is why I didn't feel the need to explain it. In a city where I lived there was a gay bar by that name. The point of my comment was -- it doesn't make sense even as an oil/gas term because there is nothing glorious about the oil/gas reference that would equate to the glory of having a team like those Jerry likes to remember.
