A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

REMINDER: I WILL DELETE "ANONYMOUS" COMMENTS AND THOSE I FIND GRATUITOUSLY VULGAR, INSULTING, INCOMPREHENSIBLE, OR JUST GENERALLY ANNOYING, IN MY SOLE AND UNREVIEWABLE DISCRETION. GRIPES ABOUT CONSISTENCY WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.
I'm not a Dumb Zone subscriber, but I thought I'd check in on how subscribers it has. I haven't kept track over time, but it would seem to be hanging in there with 6500+.
I was struck with its tag line:
Dallas based sports and "comedy" podcast
"Dallas based" should be hyphenated, but I'm not here to nitpick that.
My puzzlement is over putting "comedy" in quotation marks. This would suggest to most third-party readers that the Dumb Zone, or whoever composed that tag line, believes the podcast intends to present itself in that way, or believes it is comedy, but is not, in fact comedic.
However you interpret those quotation marks, putting "comedy" in quotes calls the show's characterization as comedy into question.
Maybe it's the same person who composed "We say what we want."
PM: The placement of quotation marks around “comedy” is likely a reference to one of the very first episodes. If memory serves, Dan was taking Blake to task for not putting the show in the comedy section of Patreon. I’m sure another commenter might be more specific.
If true, that alone is problematic in both the smaller and bigger pictures. A self-created encapsulated existence is delusional. Their numbers peaked at roughly the 8 month mark of their endeavor. This is not merely trending in the wrong direction. This is on an inevitable collision course with failure.
Kudos to those DZ bros for somehow convincing their Fams once again that they must make the trip out to Oxnard/Ventura for essential work content! I guess maybe grab a seafood burrito, since it'll be close! If there's enough Time!!

DeleteThis is some hard hitting investigative journalism.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you understand what the term "journalism "means, Micro. But that's par for the course for you.
DeleteI'm still awaiting all those new and dynamic shows, the great expansion of No Puppet and all the rest that Jasmine and Co promised.
ReplyDeleteBy the by, did the CdS reboot already die on the vine? Nada from them lads of late. Axin' for a friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about. Cirque put out 2 episodes this week, like they have every week since the reboot.

You left out the next, most apropos line: ,"And it's getting more snd more absurd."
DeleteB+, bud. Gotta finish strong, no matter how solid the idea.
