A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

WEBCAM QUICK HIT: My Lord, with Corby's Hair Long, Parted in the Middle, and Smashed Down on His Head with the Headphones . . .
. . . he DOES look like Ruth Buzzi!
Sorry, I don't know how to snag images off the webcam. If anyone does and can grab one of Corby, pass it along and I'll copy it in here, with thanks.
Or, if anyone has any pictures of Corby looking like Ruth Buzzi.
PS: Confessor triplespluscv (many thanks!) was kind enough to snag an image of Corby that gives you a bit of a flavor. The head-on shot would show Corby's very nice part in the middle, which adds to the Buzziness of the look:

Plainsman,
ReplyDeleteYou're making me laugh out loud! I have to check this out!
Seriously - what the hell is he thinking?
ReplyDeleteI think both Corby and Danny suffer in differing degrees from an acute case of midlife crisis. Hence they often adopt styles of dress and coif that are more suitable for someone with a, ahem, younger face.
ReplyDeleteChristy, I think The Ticket has been reading your comments. It's really picked up its game on the webcam. The cam tries to find the scene that's happening and it's even synced up with the moving mouths a fair amount of the time. Good work.
ReplyDeleteQUESTION: I can't seem to find the Jake/TC interview with Danny on It's Just Banter. Can anyone zero me in on it? Jake, you out there?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Confessors.
I was under the impression it was iTunes. It's Episode 7. If it's not on iTunes, you could try going to itsjustbanter.com and hitting "older posts" until you get there. If that doesn't work, let us know and we can email it.
ReplyDeleteI will say it is tough for me to direct traffic to that episode, because I was fairly intoxicated during the recording. That was back when I was still convinced no one would ever hear any of our podcasts, ever, and I think I come off like more of a jackass than I really am. I would implore you to listen to the one we just did with Mike Rhyner. That one offers a pretty accurate portrayal of my level of jackassness.
Thank you, Jake. I had been looking for it on your website, hadn't tried iTunes. I heard that the Danny episode was very informative so I wanted to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteThere's no hiding it now, Jake. Word is out you're a jackass. Hell, I heard you don't like the Rolling Stones! What a jackass!
ReplyDeleteHey, the damn podcasts on iTunes only go back to Ep[. 32!
ReplyDeleteBTW, Danny is on episode 9.
ReplyDeleteI am going to assume that the "Jake/word is out/jackass" comment is a light-hearted jab at his Hardline debate with Corby, so it does not fall within the prohibition on ad hominem remarks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Anon.
Haha, I'm sure The Ticket boys figured out the webcam aspect all on their own.
ReplyDeleteTo grab a screen shot - pull up the webcam footage, press "Print Screen" on your keyboard (it should be near the top of your keyboard, possibly one of the 3 on the far right). Paste/Control+V into Paint (part of your default accessories on your computer - go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint) and save the image (if you're savvy enough to cut it to just a pic of Corby, then cool!). Then upload!
Or, someone should just send you a screen shot themselves...
And, I am very interested in your latest musing on Dan...
Btw, I think the Colt McCoy interview with BaD Radio just now flowed better than the Sam Bradford one with The Hardline. In fact, the Sam Bradford one was sorta a letdown because they didn't ask him anything outrageous and the interview just died. There was an awkward, long pause before Mike ended the interview.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone think the same (not the Colt interview being better, but The Hardline one was weird)? I thought there was a lot of build-up, and I was really looking forward to Corby meeting his hero and for good times being had. Or, maybe Sam's not as fun an interview as Colt is...?
Who is Ruth Buzzi & why is he talking to Cookie Monster? COS.. just listned to the Jake Kemp & T.C. Flemming ITS JUST BANTER podcast w/ Mike Rhyner.. great stuff! Such as, Which LEGENDARY radio personality said The Ticker would fail in six months, or my favorite what was Ian Kinsler's theory as to why T.C.'s ex switched teams....
ReplyDelete@ Christie's last comment. That should be proof that Corby brings very little to the table as a host.
ReplyDeleteRuth Buzzi is a comic actress who came to prominence on "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" playing a variety of characters, including that one the picture, who, I lean from the Interwebs, is named Gladys Ormphby. Ruth Buzzi is frequently mentioned on The Hardline, although I am not quite sure why.
ReplyDeleteMaybe That Nice Young Michael Gruber knows.
But if you've seen Corby on the webcam this week, you'll see the resemblance instantly.
It's mostly Ty's bit. I know she lives in the DFW area, but I don't know the inspiration for his obsession.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to listen to It's Just Banter but I had yet to get around to it until today. I've only listened to the Rhyner episode, but I really like it. TC sounds like a completely different person, Jake sounds intelligent and interesting (sorry, Jake, but my impression of you has been limited to drops and the Top 10) and Rhyner was able to talk like a non-asshole to a couple people that I assume he'd normally dismiss as spares. I'm definitely going to try out some of the older, drunker podcasts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cancer. By "TC sounds different" do you mean the actual sound of his voice? He just sounds better on his pod cast....
ReplyDelete"[D]o you mean the actual sound of his voice?"
ReplyDeleteI mean he sounds like a different person completely. He sounds opinionated and personable, not at all intimidated or overwhelmed. He has some moments of hesitation, but he stands up for himself, interrupts when he has a point to make, completes his sentences and projects his voice (a bit more). I'm hoping his confidence he gains doing this podcast will translate to the Ticket.
IJB isn't bad; it's just WAY too long. I dig listening to some young spares that may someday be Ticket contributors, but 90 freaking minutes? I have better things to stick in my ear holes.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought Corby looks like Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees (Dolenz back in the 1960's). Well, maybe not quite as much now - now that he has grown his hair long and in the style it is in now - but he did look like Dolenz before then.
