A home for those who love almost everything about The Ticket (1310 AM, 96.7 FM, Dallas-Fort Worth), and who would like to discuss -- respectfully and fondly -- their thoughts on how (and whether) to eliminate the "almost."

Liking Chicken
I think I posted this in a comment and not in a post, so some of you may have missed it:
Here is where George's "I Like Chicken" song comes from, featuring Rowan Atkinson ("Mr. Bean"):
Naw, I really had no idea he could be funny. I only know him as Mr. Bean or Black Adder. I loathe both characters. The I Like Truckin' song is greatness.
Okay. That's it. ANOTHER BLEEPIN' STONES SEGMENT!!!!!!! I CAN NO LONGER TAKE IT!!!!! IT'S AS IF THEY ARE DOING IT ON PURPOSE!!!!! AS IF THEY ARE TRYING TO STICK THEIR COLLECTIVE FINGER IN THE EYE OF THE LISTENER!!!!!
Whew. Glad I aired that. And now, from this moment on, I will not listen to The Start Me Up Line until they come back from dry dock. Hopefully by that time they will have made some changes/give a rat's ass about the listener.
No, actually, it's not a newsworthy topic. Petraeus stepping down is a newsworthy item; the has been, shoulda hung it up decades ago Rolling Stones putting out yet another pitiful single is not a newsworthy item.
I doubt they waste a segment purposely trying to rile up a certain segment of their listeners. That's nonsensical to even claim, much less for them to do. They do whatever the hell pleases them because they have zero competition, have killer books, have more ad spots bought during their program (making $$$) than any other show, and have done so for almost 15 years. Basically they don't care what YOU think, because there's enough of you's out there that will take whatever turd of mediocrity and stupidity they decide to shoot out, gobble it down...and say "thank you may I have another!" Like Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, the only way you'll make them start putting out quality shows again is to hurt them in the ratings.
Alvin: Nothing's going to change, so I suggest you find something else to do between the hours of 3 and 7, weekdays.
That was actually pretty stupid on Krenek's part to do such an interview. I heard it. Although he was joking when he referred himself as some sort of pot king, he shouldn't have. I doubt the owners and management of a small station in small, ultra conservative Grand Junction would find his interview very amusing. Quite the opposite, I'm sure.
Good shout out to MTC on the mix today between The Orphanage adn CDS. One of the Sorois boys (or both, maybe, I can't tell them apart) was referencing the recent Danny column on this site.
MaSS gave a nod to MTC this morning. Scot said something like "taking my cue from the blogosphere, I now give you My Cowboy Confession." Two mornings in a row, MTC is recognized. Nice!
Major props to MaSS for tipping the hat to this site and for tweaking their show. They seem to listen to criticism, constructively, as it should be. And damn it if they don't respond to points that they evidently agree with. Gone are the silly church analogies/schtick; and today, when Matt began to step off the TMI ledge, Scot gently reeled him back in, and Matt seemed to tacitly understand and change directions. They really are putting on a better show with each passing week. Good on MaSS!
Dan just had the line of Girl's Night Out: "I'd like to thank Donovan for integrating Fairview."
ReplyDeleteDan was awesome last night. At least from what I heard over the radio.
ReplyDeleteIt kinda disappoints me that the "I Like Chicken" song isn't a Georgie original. The original is funny!
Is anything real in this world anymore?
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that Rowan Atkinson could actually be funny.
ReplyDeleteHold your stances, everyone.
ReplyDeleteVery mysterious, Michael. Is something about to erupt?
ReplyDeleteOr am I missing an inside reference relating to "stances"?
Stand by, Confessors.
Was telling everyone to hold their stances so they wouldn't be drawn offsides by edfes's comment.
ReplyDeleteOffsides is a problem in this metro, so we are grateful for the reminder.

I'm done. Going to tahk gahf.
The answer is yes - they are doing it on purpose.
ReplyDeleteJust like Mike enjoys drawing orangebloods offsides.
BaD Radio had Krenek on to discuss Colorado's pot law vote.
ReplyDeleteThere was reason to do a Rolling Stones segment. That's a newsworthy topic.

ReplyDeleteI didn't hit the radio until 12:10 so missed the reference, just heard the last part of the Danny abuse (which he accepted graciously).
ReplyDeleteNice of them to mention it.
The article in question is the one just prior to the one you're reading this comment on.
Rolling Stones Talk has been elevated to a bit.
ReplyDeleteAnd as we all know . . .
MaSS gave a nod to MTC this morning. Scot said something like "taking my cue from the blogosphere, I now give you My Cowboy Confession." Two mornings in a row, MTC is recognized. Nice!
ReplyDeleteKul. Scot H has been kind to this site in the past, as has Matt M. Both have shown appreciation for Confessors' thoughts on MaSS and Soul Patch.
ReplyDeleteTime to tune in Jake and David.

ReplyDeleteSo, what WAS on Mike's mind?
