Hold on to Your Butts . . . but Tentatively and with Good Thoughts

Bearing in mind that Michael and Mike call each other Shoopy, and that Michael tweeted his tweet an hour before Mike did.  Something unpleasant afoot?  If I hear anything, I'll let you know right away.

  1. the grey wolf: dead...3:30 on the Ticket
  2. SHOOPY NO!!!!!!!!!

    1. I believe it's just a reference to a news headline. Saw this today: "The Grand Canyon's Only Gray Wolf May Have Been Shot by a Hunter" dated yesterday. You can let go of your butts now....I think.

    2. Yeah, makes perfect sense.

These tidbits come to my attention so I get a post up to start a clearinghouse for any info that pops up (and, uh, the occasional speculation), and then it turns out to be nothing, so I look like a schmuck.

But schmuckdom is a small price to pay for the occasional scoop.

    3. I should add this was called to my attention by a Confessor commenting on the previous post.

    4. It was me. I just thought it might be of something to talk about, not trying to start anything guys. Sorry if I did.

    5. Not an issue P1 Dan -- I took the risk that there was nothing to it. Sometimes there's fire, sometimes only smoke, sometimes not even smoke. If you can't come to MTC to be kept up to date on Ticket stuff, even if the "stuff" is that nothing's happening, where can you go?

And now we've got a nice new Mike Rhyner thread going.

    6. Yeah, it's a reference to the news headline. I just decided to have fun with it because I love being silly with Shoopy and always will. Any and all butts may be un-held.

    7. There's our Mr. McGruber! Been a long time, pal. Great to see your name in these old MTC comboxes again.

Love your work at the AAC. Keep on doin' whatcha doing, playboy....

    8. Can we still grab each other's butts?

    9. Thanks, 6:26! I still peruse the site almost daily. Don't get to listen as much as I'd like during the season (gotta keep up with all the musics!), so I can at least get an idea of what I'm missing here. :)

    10. I want a Christmas card, Shoopy!

    11. FWIW, that appears that Mike posted HIS tweet about an hour before Grubes posted his. Grubes responding 1hr ago to a tweet that Mike posted 2hr ago. Splitting hairs I know - just want to make sure you understand your twitter threaddings in the future.

    13. cactus, my faithful and usually-lucid Confessor, in the wee hours you should not drink and confess.

      Loved the fail-haiku format, however.

Link to the "said redhead" to whom cactus must be referring:

    14. Two questions:

1)What is the origin of "Freshé Pepper?"

b)What was the outcome of gordo's assault charges on the jerk radio host from Philly?

      ReplyDelete
    15. fresha pepper is from a demonstration fahy gave in college for a film class (or similar). it involved some kind of peppermill technique for manual stimulation of the male genitalia. the video has never been made public but THL did a segment on it some time ago.

don't know about nasty nestor so can't answer that one.

      ReplyDelete
    16. It's a reference to Fahy's college project on how to give a handjob.

    17. NOTE: I note occasional errors in the release of moderated comments.

Just now, I approved a sportspanties post. It shows in my email and Blogger site that it was "published," but it is not showing up on the site.

This has happened more than once. I'm checking into possible solutions. Your patience is appreciated.

    18. First Ticketstock announcement this morning.

      and so it begins

      ReplyDelete
    19. While I'm admittedly not up on current sweeping the nation year defining pop music hits, I don't THINK there's been one this year like "Happy" or "What the Fox Says" or whatever it was called. So HOPEFULLY we don't get our heads bashed in for nearly two months with a parody of some gawd awful song like one of the above. I still remember the one that went along to "When I Ruled the World." I'm not a Coldplay fan, but at least it was mellow, catchy ear candy of sorts. So here's to the boys going down that route rather than the other.

      ReplyDelete
    20. Maybe at least we'll get some Old 97 sames with the promos.

      ReplyDelete
    21. It's totally going to be that Rebecca Black redux singing "All About That Bass."

      ReplyDelete
    22. I'm gonna predict a Ticketstock song based off of TSwift's "Shake it Off"

Either that or All About that Bass, Black Widow, Bang Bang...

      ReplyDelete
    23. Hope all you TC defenders heard the e-brake this morning. The guy can't even execute a tease.

Folks running Pensacola radio obviously know more than the folks running AM sport talk in DFW.

      ReplyDelete
    24. Lots of cleanup to do here, so bear with me...

@8:17 I never thought I'd hear someone HOPING for Coldplay. smh...

@Shaggy I think you're right. Shake it Off is my guess, too. I can hear it now "Ticketstock, at Ticketstock. Ticketstock, at Ticketstock"

@Bob You are so right. The guy (TC) is ragonk and a terrible broadcaster. If he wants to work in SPORTS, he should be on the analytics and data side (I mean, he's a jackass, but he's not stupid). And it drives me nuts that there are so many good new Ticker guys right now that should have his job.

Still, it ocurred to me this morning, TC is the new Barb Smith. Just an e-brake waiting to happen for hosts and P1s to point and laugh at.

      ReplyDelete
    25. I was originally a T.C. hater but his constant e-brake moments and the greatness of Ragonk, Ragonk Force and now Teremy have made me a fan of this hire. Maybe Cat knew exactly what he was doing in hiring him for midday Tickers.

      ReplyDelete
    26. @Bob,
I downloaded the college football segment which the station put on website that he and his co-host has during drydock. That is the epitome of why he is not ready for a job in a market the size of Pensacola, less a top 10 one. Awful. Those who don't listen to IJB, just try to fight through that seven minutes with all its pauses, "I just think..."; "um"; "ya know" and "like".

All he has not is the ability to alliterate his T's so that "ticketticket" sounds like he makes it.

      ReplyDelete
    27. If me cringing at every ticker between 10-3 or TC's random chime-ins is what Cat was going for, then yes, he knows exactly what he was doing. I misspeak sometimes, I may stutter, so there is some sympathy there, but I also do not seek a job where public speaking, promoting segments and/or advertisers is the girth of the job duties. I don't like to think of myself as a "hater", but it does dampen my enjoyment of the mighty Ticket. Just venting, where else am i going to do it? Thanks for the forum, P-man.

      ReplyDelete
    28. Spot on Bob. If the Ticket is serious about making a change to get some momentum, canning TC is the best thing they could do right now. Other than hiring Grubes away from the Stars!
