Campound Talk

Only observation I have at this time is that it must be fairly close by.  They were talking about Gordon not making it by noon because he was insisting on tearing out a wall in his apartment to get a deceased rodent, but they made it sound like he wouldn't miss it by much, and he obviously didn't think it would unduly interfere with his broadcasting and radio-brotherly duties.

Water nearby -- George bringing a boat.

Probably that same place they've had it a couple of times in the past -- isn't it out in the Mid-Cities somewhere?  I forget.

Conundrum:  Fargo, or Junior Coast to Coast?

  1. If I recall correctly, they did Joe Pool lake in the past. That might fit your criteria of somewhere in the mid-cities. It's on the Arlington/Grand Prairie border. The two campgrounds there are Lynn Creek and Cedar Hill State Park.

  2. October 1 can't come soon enough.

I think I remember Loyd Park mentioned a lot last year. I can't imagine any clues they've given so far are accurate. No one wants the obsessed fan to show up and ask them what they think about the Cowboys draft this year.

  3. While I understand and often agree with the many criticisms of the Hardline, I have to give them credit for getting Tim DeLaughter on yesterday to talk about the upcoming Tripping Daisy reunion show. Tim's great to listen to.

  4. Bob tweeted that Sally has had an emergency in her family and is out of town so his participation may be limited. The Ticker Redit page is saying bring the kids out, what could go wrong.

  5. James & blergoyen: Yes, I think that's what I'm thinking of. I think they've used that location more than once, so probably a good candidate for this one as well, although surely they could predict that others would come to the same conclusion, threatening Campound security from the prying P1.

  6. Corby has given away the game.

I was tuned in around 5 PM. Craig "Junior" Miller had joined the round table.

Corby said, "You're sitting right where you were sitting when the spider came down," OWTTE.

There were a few beats of silence.

Someone said, "So that means we're where we were last year."

    Corby (nervous laughter): "That's right."

There was general resigned agreement that this was, indeed, the case, as this site speculated this morning.

Say hello to them for me.

  7. My god, June's C2C is greatness...

  8. Yeah. I'm recording "Fargo." Once JC2C is gone, it's gone. And you never know when the G is going to shut down Junior and Plixton.

  9. Funny how the subject has changed to Compound Talk. I just got in from driving back from lake Tawakoni. I got in my car about the time they were talking about Harry Carey, and Jub and Gordo were doing their imitations. That was the funniest 40 minute drive ever. The whole Keyshawn & Greggo; I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. Gordo whipping out the Fake Greggo; the stories about the "celebrities in the wild" meetings; all funny and entertaining! And best of all....NO CORBY!

  10. This morning, Gordon warned us that Norm has "morning voice," by which I gather he meant he takes some time to warm up in the morning.

Well, he's been on The Musers this morning, and he sounds unwell; damaged. Almost incomprehensible at times. I hope he's OK. Like ol' Norm.

  11. Gimme a kiss sounds like he was up late... :)

I, too, heard Corby give up the location of the compound, although I wonder if it was some deliberate misdirection. Though, there was a long pause after Corby talked about Junior's chair. Norm sounds like he's barely there on his guest spot with the Musers this morning.

  12. That was very strange, Plainsman. That story about his college basketball team was painful to listen to.

  13. Yeah, Gimme a Kiss went over the discretionary vulgarity line from Rules of the Confessional. Sorry, Gimme, feel free to post again without all the cussing.

  14. Yes, Kyle, the "Turtle" story was pretty agonizing. I was worried about him.

  15. nono, I think Corby's give-up was not a misdirection. It was an . . . error. The silence that followed his gaffe could not have been calculated and was clear evidence that everyone in the place knew that Corby had spilled the ol' beans, since nothing relating to Corby-related broadcasting is ever, ever prepared in advance.

  16. And George just said, "I brought my bass boat out here . . . this time."

  17. Meant to ask anyone who might know because I heard THL mention it a couple of days ago - I was around for the disgruntled bikini girl bits, but I never found out WHY they were disgruntled. Thoughts?

  18. Late night ticket was good gold with Mike, Dan, Corby and Donovan.... until the beat down of the drunk lady whose P1 husband died and wanted some advice on how to live without him, to stop down all the fun. Thankfully Dan threw in a "moment of silence" for some comedy. I was surprised that they were able to shift gears in their own feel good state to give serious condolences for the 10 minutes that she drunk lingered on the line.

Need some Gordo added in the late night ticket tonight

  20. Junior Miller is a national treasure!

Also, as someone who has a lot of problems with Corby, I really am liking Campout Corby. He has been interactive on so many segments yet not taking them over. I think I would love Cobra paired with anyone other than Mike and Danny.
Really enjoy anytime Mike talks baseball away from Corby and Danny.

  21. Guys I am thinking the Corby spider comment was a ruse of the highest order. I was listening at about 9pm tonight and someone said are we ok with that lightning and someone else said yes it is pretty far away. In looking at the evening radar there was a line of showers passing just to the north of Richland Chambers lake. That was the only active lightning strike area within a 100 miles of the metroplex

You heard it here first I am calling RICHARD CHAMBERS LAKE

  22. Sorry I meant to say Richland Chambers Lake

  23. Gordon's replay of the "Mike Rhyner Swedish Meatball Story" is proof, if any proof were needed, that sometimes "you had to be there, and also drunk," to find a particular account larf-out-loud funny. Mike may have contributed a half-dozen words to his story.

  24. If the campound was indeed at a place other than Joe Pool, remember that it was I, Nonononever, who first suggested the misdirection. Although I think Junior's reaction to Corby's comment was genuine and they are in Grand Prairie.
