Conrad's Back?

Did I miss an announcement? Or isn't he really back?

Do We Have a New Ticket Announcer Man?

Heard a new voice doing the station ID this morning.  Nice voice.  No Conrad, but a nice voice.

Are we hearing the last of Conrad and those appalling, unfunny, 5th-grade-snickering-in-the-boys-room gags he's forced to recite?

I note from the archives that Conrad seemed to take a break back in July of 2014 and some of the time-sensitive promos were recorded by someone else pending his return.  But the thing I heard today was not a time-sensitive promo -- it was THE station ID liner.

So if we've heard the last of Conrad -- best of luck.  Drop me a line, why doncha?  We'll do a 20 Questions or AMA or something.

By the way:  His name is Jim Conrad, and here he is with Craig "Junior" Miller doing a bit at 2011 Ticketstock:

And Becca, good luck to you, wherever you are.

Where's Conrad?

It doesn't have the same ring to it as "Where's Greggo?" but I'm curious nonetheless.

Did he finally weary of reading all of that smirking promo/liner copy with the centuries-old gags?  I actually had on my stale list of articles to write that Conrad had the hardest job at The Ticket.

Who's the new guy (if he is a new guy, and not just filling in for Conrad on sabbatical)?

I'm still scrambling out here on the plains on post-vacay catch-up, but trying to re-immerse myself in The Fabulousness That Is The Ticket.

I did have to chortle at one of the comments while I was gone.  I didn't get to hear any radio last week so can't comment on T.C. Fleming's fill-in date for Gordon, but one Confessor remarked that Craig seemed beaten down by the whole thing.  I would love to have heard that.  Da Joonz has a way of letting you know his feelings about someone in a very subtle way.  I remember this particularly with the The Great Peter Gammons Experiment.  If you had just seen a transcript of those interviews, you wouldn't have thought anything amiss, but there was something about the sound of Craig's voice that said why do we need to be talking to this guy about Texas stuff, especially since half the time Gammons was on his treadmill or hiking the Urals or something while supposedly devoting his attention to the interview.  Always a fun listen.

More Quick Hits Because I Don't Have Time to Do a Longer Piece Right Now

Thanks to a poster from the last thread for calling the opening of Danny's place, The Twilite Lounge, to our attention:

Looks like a very gemütlich space, nifty.  I think it's very cool that Danny hasn't flogged the joint on the channel, that I've heard or heard about.   Guessing that he's not necessarily looking for the P1 demo or curiosity-seekers.  Letting those who are so inclined discover it for themselves.

And I guess we have our answer as to whether one can open a bar and run a PM drive showgram at the same time.

To date, the website is rather uninformative:  http://www.thetwilitelounge.com/

Am I hearing Conrad say that we should "listen more longer"?

Rich Phillips is doing an ad for an auto-parts store where he states that he seems like one's car runs better when the exterior is clean.  That is crazy, and absolutely correct.

Am I hearing Conrad reading a Hardline promo that promises "The Pool Party"?

I thought I heard Mitchell Karasik toss in a substantive non-Ticker contribution to a weekend show.  Could be wrong -- I couldn't listen long enough to tell if he were doing Tickers, but it sounded like him.  It was a good contribution.  As I have reported in the past, Mitchell's background is not in reading copy.  When he talks rather than reads, he's kind of got a Tickety voice.  Hmm.  Wouldn't break my heart to hear more of him doing other things.
