I Kinda Guessed Right About Bacsik's Position at The Little One

A few days ago I couldn't figure out why Mike Bacsik had been banned from The Great Game.  Yeah, he left his team's dugout to pitch for the other team last year, but that didn't seem as though it should have been a disqualifying transgression.  So I wondered whether there weren't something else going on with Bacsik at the station.

Yeah, well, I don't know about his behavior at the station, but apparently a pretty strong streak of jerkitude was revealed over the weekend in some extremely ill-advised Twitter transmissions.  He wasn't on with Norm yesterday.

So maybe there is something else going on with Bacsik, and maybe it's that he's not all that good a guy.

  1. Glad you posted somthing on this! I saw this on the news this morning. There is a fine line The Ticket personalities always walk with the comments they make. Mike obviously made his comments without thinking about the repercussions*. Obviously the "dirty Mexicans" comment was bad enough. What about the threat of violence, or the "if I get Cancer" remark? We know he wouldnt actually go postal (sorry for that insensitve remark), but I'm not a big fan of people who joke about Cancer.... I think we all have our hot button issues. I think Mike needs to learn what forum he lets his feelings known.... my opinion? Twitter is evil, idocracy, & stupid.

  3. Here's a note from the Observer:

I guess what I'm confused about is how much of a difference is there when Gordo says "dirty mexicans" and Mike says "dirty mexicans". Is it the context of Gordo being funny during the show and Mike being mad for the world to see?

  4. I'm sure it's got a lot to do with the venue. The Ticket is probably limited to mostly the DFW area, while Twitter at least goes to Lubbock, right?

  5. That was quick.

I don't have any inside information, but I can tell you for a near-certainty that there's a whole lot more to Mike's departure than those ill-advised drunken Twitter transmissions. They were dumb, but, as Confessor Chris posted yesterday, not a whole lot worse than what we hear from hosts. Nope, he's cheesed some people off at The Ticket or Cumulus for other reasons and this was a good opportunity to pull the trigger on showing him the door. Too bad, I thought he was good (you'll recall that I thought he might be a Hardliner one day -- so much for that brainstorm).

  6. Most of the hosts talking about it today had nothing but good things to say about Chewie. I've heard he was a good guy on air and off air. Too bad, I really liked listening to his sports opinions; not so much his music listening skills.

  7. I know it's kind of late notice, but Mike is going to talk about "the elephant in the room" on the next segment.
