  1. Best darn lookin' Traffico! Traffico! chick The Ticket ever had. Sorry Barb Smith lovers out there. And she took absolutely zero S*** off of Gordon. In fact, he seemed a bit on his toes around her. Stay hard, Alexis.

Here's one that might spark a bit of conversation:

Perhaps I'm being too sensitive, but I've seem to notice of late something different about Mike. When I think about it, I want to say it began about 3-4 months ago. What I'm talking about here is that I'm wondering if Mike isn't/hasn't been going through a rough patch in his personal life. To be blunt about it, he sort of comes off as depressed to me; but that he's trying his best to hide it, at least on air. Lately there's been something a bit sad to his voice, and even in some of the things he's beginning to share about himself. I'm probably overreaching here, but I just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else has picked up on this.

  2. It's hard to tell about Mike because he doesn't really contribute that much lately. It seems a lot more like the Corbles And The Cloud show. The Musers read a HL promo this morning that Junez specifically said (twice) "was written by Danny" that warned that he and Corby are out today and contained the line (paraphrasing) "listen to what it sounds like when 90% of the show's talent is gone". It was really funny, but sadly, I agreed with it.

  3. Is there any truth to the rumor that the Voice of Big Tex is going to be replaced by Jody Dean?

  4. Can't imagine that Jody Dean will work 12 hour days for a month at the State Fair and not do any of the other stuff that he's involved in. If they were able to pre-record everything and just play it from a sound file, I could see it as being possible. However, my thought is that the SFOT will get someone who doesn't have an identifyable voice.

One of the replacement traffic people was driving me crazy earlier this week. His name is JJ and everything was "slow and go". I nicknamed him "Slow and Go Joe" after hearing two of his reports.

Hardline - These guys are getting harder and harder to listen to. I only listen for about an hour in the evenings and about half the time, I switch the radio off and listen to road noise instead. If Corby isn't having a Corgasm (tm, DRW1961, 2013) about some band or trip that he's taken/taking, it's just a bunch of stuff that they are making up on the fly. It never seems that they have any researched or prepared segments any more. Whenever they tease an upcoming segment it's "Coming up on Community Quick Hits - stuff about Dallas" or something like that.

Does anyone know Mike's personal situation these days? He's not still married to Renee any longer, right? His daughter is gone. Makes me wonder if anything besides the job is keeping him here in the area. I've always thought that he has retirement sights set on California or Arizona. Perhaps that's coming soon?

  5. DRW1961, just making a little joke. Think Voice of Texas Stadium.

I agree that THL's presentation sounds a little lazy, but I think when they undersell what's coming in the next segment it's just shtick. Seems to me Mike is too much of an old school radio guy to work without a run sheet in front of him. I won't speculate on his personal life since I don't know him, but I can think of two things that give him a reason to get up in the morning: Petty Theft and The Nyrds.

As for CorbyCorby, I'm still enjoying his proclamation that if Pearl Jam were playing a private gig in Dallas, he would know about it.

  6. I just want to make it clear that I was in no way claiming that I know something is wrong with Mike. Not in the least. I've never met the man, much less know him. I was only saying that there's something, to me at least, in his voice of late that sounds down-ish or depressing. And like I said, I was/am most likely overreaching--by several miles.

I only was asking if anyone else has sensed the same thing. Sorry if I came off as "knowing" some sort of inside thing. Nothing can be further from the truth.

  7. I don't think Mike has really enjoyed [tho he would never admit it] the show as much since Greggo left.

  8. DRW1961, if you can trademark Corgasm, I want the rights to The Corbles & The Cloud Show. I should go register that domain name before someone grabs it...
