I Heard It on the Handoff

Danny Balis:  "We're [the Orphanage, with Dave Lane] going to do something today that the Hardline hasn't done in probably fifteen years."

Mike Sirois:  "Prepare?"

Loved it.

So we're not the only ones.

(Oh, yeah, the actual answer was:  Take calls.)

  2. Every time I hear Matt Birmingham do the Top 10, I think, "You're blowing it, kid." Snarky + unfunny makes for unpleasant listening.

  3. As part of their 25 most memorable moments or whatever tf, they should really count the time they got kicked off the Byron Nelson Pavilion I believe it was 1999 when they measured women's boobs. Can they get Me Too'ed for that? It was not until 15 years that were allowed back.

  4. If Gordon getting arrested at Lambeau Field makes it anywhere near the top it will be an abomination. Talk about a moment that has been overhyped and has no real place in ticket lore - there are no definitive drops or the like from the Gordo arrest. Fun story but not a Top 25 memorable moment.

  5. G-Bag Nation is pretty good sports talk radio in the holiday absence of BaD Radio

  9. By golly, I believe that is Renee Rhyner, Dallas photographer, former spouse of Mike. And, I guess, present spouse. Well, that's great. Have you ever seen him look so happy?

  10. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I believe that's an old pic and the hashtag is fairly meaningless. Wifey is a very common term for someone you're not actually married to

  11. ...aaaand the tweet is deleted

There's a chance someone not Mike was posting on his account. His profile pic was changing by the hour last night

  12. The picture was posted on Mike's FB page December 9, with this confusing exchange in the comments.

    Mike Rhyner
Mike Rhyner Yeah...and that pic’s probably about 10 years old

Larry Herrera Mike Rhyner I don’t feel bad now...my pic is 2 years old.😏

Mike Rhyner It’s only about 3 years old.

  13. I feel like this pic *may* have been from Mike's HOF induction now that I think about it

  14. Thanks to Surly and other Confessors for quick work on this.

  15. Back to the P-Man's original thread remarks, the Hardline's lack of preparation is being embraced by the show hosts as sort of an inside joke. Even Corby jokes about it.

  16. And like all of Corby joke's, not funny!

  17. I've been enjoying all of the Drydock shows I've heard.

After Intentional Grounding tonight -- much as I really like that show, my vote would be for more Cowboys talk, less inter-host joshing, please -- I stayed tuned in for some of the Top Ten. And I've heard some of it in the past. I saw some criticism of Matt Birmingham's stewardship earlier in this thread, but I've always thought he was fine. Still do.

  18. A happy birthday to Craig "Junior" Miller and to Mike "Mike" Doocy.

  19. Twice today I've noticed hosts and ticker-folks using the phrase "96.7 and 1310" in that specific order. I checked the website, and there is text with the same thing ("96.7 1310 The Ticket Presents THE OLD 97'S HOLIDAY HOOPLA Saturday DEC 29th at THE STATLER BALLROOM"). Is this a new and/or different approach? Does this even matter?

And while I'm making observations, is Sirois acting a little too-cool-for-school to Peter?

  20. @TheDude

WRT Sirois. It's obvious that both Sirois and Jake are using dry-dock to up-tier themselves versus just about everyone they come in contact with. I noticed it with Jake and Doocy too. Sirois has always done this. Once he takes his Norm knee-pads off, he is horrible to those around him that he feels he supercedes (e.g. see the pathetic on-air tongue-lashing he gave2 Monty over FFB or these Killer escapades this week).

Jake appears to get a pass because Sirois knows that he’s blown past him on the fast track. I used to hear it from Sirois with Donny Doo Doo before he joined Norm now it’s a level of begrudging respect.

This is a rough business, a true meritocracy. TC couldn’t understand it. At least Sirois does even if it makes for an uncomfortable listen from time to time.

  21. Please, Cat, never pair Sirois and Jake EVER again.

  22. Anyone have a tip for me on how to navigate the screens on getting the stream going for The Fan? I had no TV or radio so was agoing to try to get the game on the stream, but getting Radio.com to deliver it, whether directly, via The Fan website, via a Fan app -- nothing worked. Anyone out there stream The Fan? Thanks.

  23. Aikman made a reference to the Touchdown Brothers during the Cowboys/Bucs game. High Five, Troy.

  24. I stream the Fan with no problem on the Radio.com app on my iPhong. Not sure what your issue is. Try the time honored trick of deleting your app then re-installing?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't think any games are streamed due to right's issues. You have to use local FM/AM radio app.

Just for future reference as the game is over........

  26. Anon 1024 is correct. I think NHL may permit free streaming as I get Stars on Ticket app, but have to strap on the old Walkman if I want to hear Cowboys or Mavs live...or pay a fee for streaming access to the games...

  27. The fan cuts out and goes to network during cowboys broadcasts. Only way to stream games in market that I'm aware of is with Siriusxm, but the call is delayed by a min or two at best

  28. You can stream the tv broadcast anywhere you want if you visit r/nflstreams

  29. Glad to see James did not delete mention of Troy and the TD Bros.
    Ticketheads everywhere stood at attention.

Or at least they perked up some.

Nobody mentioned Big Bob and the Band boys talking Bill's
Well, I remember it too. That was X5Kf*& outstanding.
If I wanted to go to Reddit, I would. Sometimes I do.
I still come around here too. And surly shaggy bevo

I bought some off market stuff from Bill too.

and there is going to be a documentary?
    Count me in!
