Generic Youth Minister Snarky Quick Hit

He developed a lisp in yesterday's appearance.  Funnier without.

  1. I don't think the lisp is anything new. I do agree that it wasn't his best appearance.

  2. ...and come to think of it, I haven't found him to be very funny in quite some time. It's too much of the same thing each time: Generic church talk; vague allusions to homosexuality; applying guilt to George and Craig about not going to church. It's a pretty tired bit, IMHO.

  3. See, that's kind of what I thought, but in the past there was not the swishiness to it that there was in yesterday's installment. It was a straight cornball GYM voice, which at least lent the character some humor-value ambiguity on that score. Seemed to me like he stared out as usual, developed a heavy lisp about a third of the way through, then toned it back down.

I can't believe I'm even writing about this.

  4. Darn, now I'll have to go back through all of the Generic Youth Minister bits on The UnTicket.

Listening to the real Norm and Goose this morning made me realize Gordo and Junior's characterizations are not far off. at. all. Kinda scary.

  5. Yeah, this was a pretty lackluster GYM, but not every at-bat is going to be a home run. Writing a bit every day (in addition to all the other duties) has got to be very difficult. Gordo delivers plenty still.

  6. Oh, and Plainsman, my .02 on the layout: I don't mind the ads to the left of the articles, but the one in the middle of the screen between the 1st and 2nd article drives me nuts. If you have the option of moving that somewhere else, I'd kindly ask that you do.

  7. Christy,

Couldn't agree with you more concerning the similarities between the real and the fake Norm and Goose interactions. I only take issue with you in one regard: it's not kinda scary, but rather VERY SCARY!

  8. He's definitely always had a lisp, since he's gay.

I have some limited options, but they're all bad. An ad always appears after the first article, then that's the last of them. Sorry. If it proves not worthwhile, I'll just drop the program, or the site.

    Anon B:

I'm a big Gordon and admire his industry and his yuk batting average. And I didn't think the bit was all that bad. My only thought was that I couldn't recall ever hearing that pronounced lithp before. His voice has always been effiminate, but I just didn't recall that effect. No big deal, just didn't have anything to write today.

Probably would have been better to skip it.

I hope some of you will be listening to late-night random radio from the ol' campground. And maybe some of you will be rolling on that.

  10. 1) I can put up with the ads, I just wanted you to know.

    2) To be clear, I firmly believe that a bad Gordo bit is better than a typical FM station's good bit. He's still my leader.

    3) I probably won't be able to listen to much of the campout live. This is where the UnTicket saves my sanity.
